Chapter 158 What Is the Relationship Between Gregory and Thalia?
Thalia looked down at her hand that had been knocked aside. The back of her hand was bright red, sticky with wine.
"I was wondering who I bumped into. Turns out it's Ms. Smith. My apologies."
Everyone in Emerald City knew that Emma had a grudge against Thalia.
The people around who had been gossiping instantly perked up when they heard Emma's voice, one by one pricking up their ears and moving closer with their wine glasses.
"Ms. Smith can still get into this kind of event this year."
Thalia let out a scoff, casually pulling back her hand. Proud as a peacock standing in the forest, she lightly dabbed at the wine stain on the back of her hand with her fingertips. "Dogs can get in, so why can't I?"
"Who are you calling a dog?"
Thalia's lips curved slightly as her gaze fell on Emma, light and casual, with a hint of indifference and a touch of disdain. "I don't know. Whoever answers to it, I guess."
"What's so great about being in the entertainment industry? When your dad was around, you had endless resources. Now that your dad's not doing well, you haven't had any projects for months, right? Can your company even stay open? Want me to invest and support you?"
Thalia scoffed. "Support me with that little monthly allowance of yours?"
"Emma, how dare you say that? Everyone knows your dad gives you two hundred thousand dollars a month for living expenses. You spend that money on yourself, and you still have to keep a man on the side."
"Is it enough? Why don't you call me mom? I'll give you some extra." As Thalia spoke, she walked toward Emma. Her wine-stained fingertips lifted a strand of Emma's hair. Emma was unhappy and tried to dodge by turning her head, but Thalia grabbed her hair and yanked it, making her scalp hurt so much she gasped. Just as she was about to lose her temper, Thalia struck first.
"Oh wait, I forgot. When I was dating your brother, you took plenty of money from me every month. A Hermès bag today, a Dior outfit tomorrow. Those shoes on your feet—I probably bought them for you back then, didn't I?"
"Your Wood family is really something. When you were all taking favors from me, you practically wanted to kneel down and thank me. After your brother and I broke up, you couldn't wait to treat me like an enemy and stab me in the back. Ungrateful wolves!"
Emma yanked her hair free and shoved Thalia hard, sneering. "Why make it sound so noble? Who doesn't know what kind of person you are in Emerald City, Thalia?"
"What kind of person am I? Everyone in Emerald City knows I'm great at feeding dogs. If I can't make it in the entertainment industry anymore, I'll just open a kennel, put photos of you and your brother on the wall, and brainwash the dogs every day, telling them you're their ancestors."
"Emma, shake your brain around until it's evenly distributed before you come yelling at me."
Emma wasn't as quick-witted as Thalia, but she didn't want to lose either.
If Thalia's real father were still around, she might hold back a bit. But now?
No need.
Angelina had been watching from the side. Watching these rich girls fight was way more entertaining than any TV drama. But just as things were getting good, Emma threw that glass of wine, which really shocked her.
Every woman here tonight was wearing a dress that cost at least six figures, right?
With that glass of wine thrown, Thalia's loss would be huge.
Angelina reached out to stop it, but then she saw a figure behind her stride over and pull Thalia protectively in front of him.
Thalia looked down, not yet seeing the person's face clearly, when a faint scent of fresh grass reached her nose. This smell was so familiar.
She had smelled it on Gregory when she delivered coffee to him today.
"What!"
"What!"
"Who is this?"
"Gregory! You don't watch movies? He's a big shot in the film industry!"
"Wait, what's his relationship with Thalia? How did she manage to get all the good men in the world? Thalia, teach us how you do it. I'll pay whatever tuition you want."
When Angelina saw Gregory, though not as shocked as everyone else, she was still stunned.
William! A rival has appeared!
Angelina's eyes scanned the surroundings, looking for William.
After searching for a while without seeing him, she took out her phone and called him. He answered extremely quickly. Before Angelina could say anything, she heard William say, "I saw."
"Then why aren't you doing something?"
Angelina looked at the disconnected call and couldn't help cursing.
She silently cursed to herself: No wonder your wife doesn't love you.
Gregory held Thalia's arm and gently pushed through the crowd, looking down at her with a gentle tone. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Thalia shook her head. "Are you okay?"
"Nothing serious." Gregory didn't expect Thalia to thank him. He just felt that in that situation, if the wine had splashed on Thalia, her white dress would have left nothing to the imagination.
Thalia nodded, not dwelling on it. "Alright, then move aside a bit."
She reached out and pushed Gregory aside. Before Gregory could react, Thalia walked over and snatched the glass from Angelina's hand, splashing it at Emma's face with lightning speed.
"Badass."
"This is like Emma digging her own grave."
"When has Thalia ever lost in a situation like this?"
The wine glass was thrown onto the carpet. Before Emma could react, Thalia lifted her dress and kicked her in the stomach.
"I've given you chances over and over. You didn't want them. So don't blame me for not being polite anymore."
Emma wasn't one to take a beating either. Being attacked by Thalia like this, she definitely had to fight back.
Just as Emma was about to rush forward, Thalia lifted her dress and came at her again, kicking her back with another foot. "Didn't spend enough time in jail?"
"Did your time in prison teach you nothing?"
Thalia was furious, kicking one foot after another.
The organizers on the side saw the commotion among the women and wanted to intervene, but then they saw William's light glance sweep over.
"Does Mr. Caldwell want to stop this?" William's words carried a hint of warning.
Lonnie Caldwell heard the warning but couldn't quite figure out who William was saying this for, so he continued, "There are reporters outside. If the commotion inside gets out, I'm afraid it won't look good for everyone."
Nicholas stood beside William, impressed by Thalia's move of kicking someone while holding up her dress. Knowing the relationship between William and Thalia, he scoffed lightly. "You'd better not bother. The people causing trouble haven't even thought about whether they'll lose face. Why should you worry about it?"
"If you ask me, just get a server to stand by and watch, see how much stuff they damage, and send them the bill later."
Hearing Nicholas say this, Lonnie's face darkened.
Lonnie turned his gaze to William again. Seeing that he had no intention of speaking, he understood.
William was someone all the powerful people in Emerald City were trying to please. How dare he go against his wishes?
