Chapter 140 Hidden Marriage Canceled?
"You believe whatever people tell you? Doesn't Mr. Brown have his own judgment?"
"Or is it that Mr. Brown has his own judgment, but when it comes to me, it doesn't exist?"
"Mr. Brown, even if we're not husband and wife, we were classmates for years. We had something between us back then, even though it didn't last long, but it did exist. I never thought I was this kind of person in Mr. Brown's mind. Shouldn't you reflect on yourself?"
William's hand froze, cup in mid-air.
Reflect on himself?
Thalia was really something. Rather than reflecting on herself, she'd rather drain others.
That's just who Thalia was.
"Is Mrs. Brown trying to mess with my head?"
Thalia shrugged carelessly. "I'm just stating facts, telling it like it is. If Mr. Brown knew what kind of person I am, you'd know I'll never have a second encounter with Walter in this lifetime. When a bad guy like that shows up in front of me, I feel like he's polluting the air."
As she spoke, something seemed to occur to her. She swept her hair back and walked toward William step by step, standing before him and looking up, her eyes glinting with cunning. "Mr. Brown, did someone say something to you? And when that person was talking nonsense in front of you, you didn't even defend me."
"Am I right?"
Thalia leaned in close, and William caught a faint whiff of alcohol on her.
Drinking during her period?
Who was it that texted him cursing him out when she was in agony?
Thinking of this, William nodded. "Yes."
"I'm your wife, and not only did you not defend me, you suspected me?"
"Mrs. Brown said..." William freed one hand to tuck the stray hair by her ear behind it, then slowly lowered his gaze, his casual tone sounding by her ear: "To keep the marriage secret."
"I say something and Mr. Brown just listens? Since when is Mr. Brown so obedient? When I tell you not to touch me, you touch me anyway. When I tell you not to have sex with me, you do it anyway. How come it's different now?"
William tilted his head slightly, his lips brushing past Thalia's ear. "Does Ms. Smith mean we should cancel the secret marriage?"
Thalia's whole body stiffened at William's teasing gesture, a tingling sensation crawling up her spine to her brain. William... was seducing her again.
Seduction and manipulation were William's most common tactics. Thalia had figured it out—William would come tease her every now and then, whether he had a reason or not. For revenge?
Thalia took a step back, raising an eyebrow at William. "Mr. Brown probably doesn't know what 'it depends on the situation' means."
"Depends on whose situation? Your situation or my situation?"
William casually set his cup on the nearby bar counter and walked toward Thalia step by step.
The living room was empty. The Mistwood Hill villa covered a large area. During the day, there were quite a few people working in the garden, but at night William's rule was that only one person could stay in the villa... and that was Fallon.
Besides Fallon, no one else could stay in the front yard.
Right now in the empty living room, William and Thalia were battling wits.
Neither wanted to let the other off.
Although William had the upper hand in the argument, Thalia figured he must be uncomfortable too.
Thalia wasn't planning to let him off either.
Backed up against the sofa, Thalia flipped around and sat on William's lap, their legs tangled together, intimate and suggestive.
Thalia's slender fingers pulled at the tie around his neck.
Casually, as she pulled off the black tie, William's eyes darkened.
He grabbed Thalia's wrist. "What are you trying to do?"
Thalia tilted her head, blinking and giving him a playful smile. "Have sex with you."
"Is that illegal?"
William's breath caught, his gaze on Thalia tinged with a faint red, restrained yet controlled.
She was clearly doing this on purpose—knowing she was on her period and still seducing him?
"Thalia," William's voice trembled slightly.
"I'm listening! Go ahead."
Thalia stretched her arms over his shoulders, smiling brightly as she tilted her head at him.
"Seducing me?"
"Nonsense, how is this seduction? This is normal communication between husband and wife."
William looked at her as she freed one hand and slowly pressed it down where it shouldn't go. "This is also normal communication?"
Thalia looked at him questioningly. "This doesn't count?"
"Or is it that in Mr. Brown's eyes, normal communication depends on the situation? Like, if we're naked it's normal, but if we're not it's not normal?"
William laughed in exasperation. Of course, she was waiting for him here.
"I get it now. Between husband and wife, if you fight with your clothes off, it doesn't count as domestic violence."
As Thalia finished speaking, she raised her hand and her t-shirt flew off too.
Tossed onto the nearby armchair, it slid down the backrest and landed on the cat sleeping on the carpet.
The ragdoll cat was so startled it seemed traumatized.
William: ...What was going on in Thalia's head?
William always felt Thalia kept jumping back and forth between normal and abnormal.
Thalia's thoughts weren't on the same wavelength as normal people.
"Thalia, you're testing a man's humanity."
Taking advantage of being on her period to act recklessly?
Thinking he couldn't do anything to her?
"So does Mr. Brown have humanity?"
"What do you think?" William asked.
William looked at Thalia sitting on his lap in her black bra. Remembering the curtains weren't drawn, he reached for a nearby blanket and draped it over Thalia's shoulders. "Let me remind Mrs. Brown, everything can be seen through the floor-to-ceiling windows."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Then why cover up with a blanket?" Thalia said, pulling off the blanket from her shoulders. "I starve myself and diet, isn't it all to work out a good body for people to see?"
"If I don't show off my good body to others, I have no sense of achievement at all."
William: ...Shameless?
"Where's your sense of shame?"
"A dog ate it."
William: ........
"Mr. Brown," Thalia's fingertips slowly slipped under the hem of his shirt, pulling it out, tracing up along his abs...
Making William's heart race.
"Thalia, don't seduce me."
"I am seducing you, so what are you going to do about it?"
William was never one to be bullied. He was calculating and his moves were deadly. After Thalia had been teasing him for so long, how could there be no price to pay?
When Thalia really went up against William, he could easily overpower her.
"Don't you dare!"
