Too good to be true

We opened the door and went inside and behold it was a big room filled with shoes and bags of all kinds of brands.

“Wait, are—— are these all real”

Chloe stuttered

“Evelyn tell me I'm dreaming girl”

Rachel walked forward and picked a branded bag and shoe.

“Evelyn these are all real, these are all original branded shoes and bags “

“What!?”

I was more than surprised.

“All of these costs nothing less than a billion dollars, girl”

Chloe said almost crying, she was in disbelief as it was too much to take in.

Then there was a note and a small cake.

I took the note to read.

“Evelyn read it out “

(“I hope you love this surprise, and I hope the shoes fit”)

“He's so romantic, I need a man like Walt in my life”

I was speechless, Walt got me, I was rich too I had money but I had never gotten things as expensive as these.

No one had ever gotten me anything as expensive or luxurious before now that's why I was so speechless.

“I gotta tell you guys something”

Rachel said with a frown on her face.

“Rachel, are you good? Wassup?”

“ Well, you see the thing is I and Christopher wanted to get a divorce for a very long time, you know what we were divorced already but when we got the invitation to your wedding we decided to act like a normal couple to avoid too many questions, and he begged me not to tell Walt, so I decided to play along”

“Wait, Rachel, so you’re saying you and Christopher were no longer a couple?”

I asked her without any hesitation, I just knew something about them seemed a little off.

“Yes, and he already moved on. He has a woman, and she was pretty angry that he didn't invite her to the wedding but instead, he brought me as his wife”

“Oh my God, I'm so sorry about all this Rachel, I can't even imagine what you must be going through”

I was full of sympathy for her, she has been through hell at the hands of that man.

“Oh, no, no, I also have a man”

“Ok, now that's a bitch I like”

Chloe finally said something after almost tearing up.

“You know I was once pregnant, yeah, but Christopher, he beat me and I miscarried my child”

Tears rolled down from her eyes and I could see the pain in her eyes the pain that man had cost her.

He was a pure devil, but I was confused about something.

“You, said Christopher, begged you not to tell Walt that you both were divorced, may I ask why?”

I had to ask her, I was curious to know why he didn't want her to tell Walt, I wanted to know the reason.

“ Evelyn, if there’s anyone that I’m grateful to in my entire life it’s Walt because he has always been there for me even before I got married to Chris.

He has helped me in so many situations, and Chris respects Walt a lot so he knew that telling Walt would be a very bad idea”

“Oh, now I get it, I know I shouldn't say this but I'm grateful you are finally free of him, but do you think he has enemies that might have wanted to kill him?”

“Chris had lots of enemies, Walt used to help him out, and Walt had always been good friends to us, you cannot imagine the things he has helped me with”

“I'm really glad, now tell us about this man of yours”

“Hmmmm, girl I thought you wanted to cook for everyone?”

We all laughed at Chloe's question

On our way out we saw Martha at the entrance.

“Before, you, say anything Evelyn, I think we should give Martha a chance. I don’t think she has anything to do with Christopher's death, so until she's proven guilty please let's all be one, the four of us are the ladies of this house for now so let's all be one, please”

I was tired of fighting her too anyway, so we all agreed to do and say things together.

The four of us went to the kitchen to cook, and I tell you all one thing, the kitchen said I'm not left out of the luxury.

It was so fine and shiny it felt like a felony to cook in there, it was covered in silver and gold color designs.

The new scent was all over the place one could easily tell no one had ever cooked in the kitchen before.

I wanted to prepare macaroni and cheese, Walt once told me it was his favorite dish.

“So Martha I heard you once fucked Walt “

I turned and gave Chloe a side-eye.

“What I just wanna know”

“It's fine Evelyn, it's no news, and yes we did but it was just once”

Walt told me it was twice, was he teasing me then?

“I thought it was twice?”

I looked at her and asked, we were all busy preparing the ingredients for the food, the fridge was stuffed with all kinds of meats and some other things to cook and there was another fridge that carried all kinds of wines and soft drinks inside.

“Twice? Did Walt tell you that? It was once Evelyn”

“Maybe Walt only teased you, Evelyn “

Rachel who was slicing the meat said.

“Well, it's possible, he's very naughty “

“I'm sorry Evelyn when we got here, and saw Walt again all the old feelings just began to come back and I was jealous of you cause you had him but that was it, I was only jealous “

“I think Matthew is a cool guy Martha you just need to be contended with what you have”

“I am contended but Matthew makes it hard for me, do you guys know when last I had sex with my husband?”

“When? Please tell us”

Chloe quickly turned around and asked, she was very crazy and loved to talk and hear things like that.
