Chapter 9 Nine
Tessa's POV
At that moment, I was vexed. Damien worked me to an inch of my life, with some sort of teasing
and tormenting that had me hot and bothered, then just drew back right at the edge of my
orgasm. For him, this whole thing was just a game; why else would he leave me at that point?
Tightening my legs doesn't get me to my high, and he knew that. This is torture. It felt as if my
mind was such a jumbled mess—anger, confusion, desire. I still don't know whether I wanted to
scream at him or just throw myself into his arms. I didn't get the chance to process which one to
act on since that was when the sharp knock came from the door, interrupting us.
"Get out, Leah!" Damien's voice was held like a harsh bark.
"Hmmmm. Sir… Some appli…,
" Before his secretary could even finish her sentence from the
other side of the door, he had already cut her off, threatening her by using her job against her.
"Leah, don't test me or I will fire you,
" he said sharply. I had just completed adjusting my clothes
to regain some composure.
"Sir… Okay, Sir,
" Leah grumbled, her footsteps retreating, I could hear the sound of her heels
echoing down the hallway.
"Hmm… Sir,
" I said, trying to speak for Leah but Damien cut me off.
"Oh T essy. you're being formal now. I thought I was Damie……
" he laughed, mocking me
moaning his name a few days ago. He locked his eyes to mine and lifted his fingers to his lips, licking it clean. My cheeks began to get warm and another emotion swirling in my
stomach—something more dangerous.
"T essy, you taste exquisite,
" he murmured, a twisted
smile playing on his lips.
I knew he was then cooking something inside his head. His very next words left me speechless,
and I could not even frame a decent reply. My mouth opened and closed; no words came out.
"T essy, you are employed. You start work tomorrow. Meet my secretary; she'll let you in on all
there is to know about my calendar and work events. Listen well. I am a man who never takes
my work lightly, and as my P .A, you can ill afford to make mistakes,
" he stated with a chilling
precision.
"I thought there is due process for every interview. You haven't even interviewed me yet. I
shouldn't be getting the job without following due process,
" I protested, straining to modulate my
voice to sound steady and firm.
He looked like I just said something ridiculous.
"Okay you want me to interview? T ake your
seat,
" he commands, his own eyes meeting mine briefly. I looked directly into his eyes, lest the
guy had some sort of a sneaky idea up his sleeve. He gave me that Cheshire cat kind of smile
while waving a hand at the sitting chair.
"Miss T essy, you have got the job,
" he muttered again
now eyeing something or rather on a laptop sitting on his desk.
"I thought that you would ask me questions. I don't like being given handouts,
" I persisted,
wanting to get based on merits and not because I spread my legs to some stranger turned
C.E.O.
"Okay. questions you say,
" he leaned backward into his chair, highly amused, his eyes sparkling
with mirth.
"T essy, do you have a boyfriend?" he asked again, mocking me this time.
"That has nothing to do with getting the job,
" I said, growing peeved.
"Well, that's what I would ask, fat cheeks,
" he turned on me fully.
"I don't find this to be fair. I.
" I began complaining, but again, he cut me off.
"Miss T essy, do you need this job?" he again asked in that slight soft tone of his.
I nodded as a lump grew in my throat. He simply grinned; he had triumph in his eyes.
"Then you
have it,
" he said. He dialed the phone for his secretary.
"Leah, the interview is over. T ell all the
other candidates waiting that the space has been filled,
" he instructed before hanging up.
I obviously didn't seem to like how this was playing out. I had come in here for a fresh start, and
now the new job had to help me move on from my past. Now, I turned around to find myself
entwined with the man who turned my whole world upside down in just that one night. His
presence was overwhelming, and at that time, I knew that I was not going to give myself to him
anymore. I didn't want to be known as the Ceo's slut.
"T essy, are you listening?" That statement brought me back to my senses from the surprised,
humbled look on Damien's face.
"What?" I replied. My mind was still in a spaced-out zone.
"I said you will start work tomorrow at 8 AM sharp. Don't be late,
" he said.I nodded, not knowing what to say. I gathered my things and stood to my feet to leave. As I
reached the door, Damien called out,
"T essy, one more thing.
"
I turned towards him then, a little apprehensively, wondering what he would come up with next.
"You are not only an employee to me. There is unfinished business between us, we will have to
revisit it,
" he said, his voice low but firm.
My body temperature increased but I tried to act like it was nothing.
more,
" I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
"I'm here for the job, nothing
"We shall see about that,
" he said, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.
I turned my back toward his office. My emotions and thoughts were all over in my head. How on
earth was I going to be able to allow myself to be employed by any man who appeared to make
me feel so many contradictory emotions?
I took a deep breath before stepping into the elevator; my heart was belting in my chest hard. I
needed to get out of this situation and be clear headed on how I was going to deal with this. I
couldn't afford to lose this job, although working with Damien was not going to be easy. Now I
wished I hadn't gone to the bar.
Leah was waiting as the elevator doors opened out. She met my eyes and smiled
mischievously.
"What are the chances that after Mr. Damien saw you, he called off the
interview?" she asked.
I didn't know what to say and just found myself stuttering.
truly not knowing what to say.
"I… I don't know,
" I stammered out,
Leah smiled and then started explaining the details of Damien's calendar and what my duties
would be.
tone.
"Here is everything you'll need down for tomorrow. Keep a close eye on his schedule
and the events. Mr. Damien is very conscious about his time,
" she said now, professional in her
I was listening to her, but my mind kept wandering back to Damien. It was a bit too much for my
poor brain to notice the way he looked at me. Like he would devour me if given the chance.
"Do you have any questions?" Leah asked, which brought me back into reality.
anything you don't understand?"
"Is there
"No, I think I get it now,
" I said, trying to sound convincing."Great, if you need anything, just ask,
" Leah said and handed me a folder with everything from
the county.
"Thanks,
" I replied and forced a smile onto my lips.
I left the building, but my heart still wandered. I needed to talk to someone; that someone is
Anna. Anna loves gossip; with what was about to go down, I was definitely sure she would pop
some popcorn and even get ice cream to listen to my life problems.
