Chapter 16 Sixteen
Chapter 16
Tessa's POV
Sitting on the empty seat next to Damien, I struggled to maintain composure. I'd been pissed yesterday just like he was and it only fueled our sexual desire.
One thing to avoid was getting pissed around Damien. That shit doesn't end well.
Looking at the faces of the people gathered around the desk, I could tell they were all staff. Leah was one of them. She gave me that ' I told you' smile.
I had a feeling, this was another version of Anna that I'd bagged for myself. Luckily, I liked her.
"So I called for this meeting because there's a project we all have to work on" Damien started, his voice cool and formal. The hair on the nape of my neck bristled in awareness.
"We're launching a new product, and we need all hands on deck" I opened my note, staring at it blankly. Am I to write?
"So, I'll be nominating a committee to work on this project with me. Details would be communicated soon" He muttered as he stood up, my eyes roamed down his body taking in his beautiful chiseled body in that blue suit.
The man had a beautiful gait and height. Prying my eyes away from him, I tried to focus on what he was saying.
"So who will be working on this project with me are..." He paused, staring at the faces that stared right back at him.
"Leah, Jayden, Martha, Ryan, and..." The place was silent. Those he'd called nodded in approval with little smiles on their faces.
"Tessa," He said, staring down at me. I tensed up immediately.
Wait...what? I'm part of the committee. Something I know nothing about. I was new in the company and had no idea what was needed to launch a new product.
Fuck Damien.
"I don't think," I chuckled nervously, and again, all eyes were on me. Shit! His eyes were back on me, questioningly.
"I'm just new here. I don't think it's a good idea for me to be part of the committee" I stated and Damien raised a brow.
"You're my PA, it's only right if you're a part of the committee. You're open to learning, right?" He asked and I gave a resigned sigh before nodding.
But I still felt like this was a wrong idea and Damien's plan.
"I'll let y'all know what to do and give you updates" He nodded and the staff stood up clearly understanding his dismissive sign.
I stood up to leave but he stopped me with his hand on my arm.
The staff left shutting the door behind them. Once they'd left, I pried my arm out of his grip putting distance between us.
There was silence and I risked glancing at him. His broad shoulders flexed as he dropped his hands tucking them into the pocket of his Tuxedo pants, and…amusement danced in his eyes for a slight second before it disappeared.
He thought this was funny, how great was that?
"We need to talk about what happened between us," He started. "Screw that, I mean what's happening between us"
Not this again. I'd have pinched the space between my brows to wedge off the headache that I could sense brewing.
Before I could come up with a reply, his phone rang, cutting off our awkward little chit chat and I was grateful for the interruption.
Only that, he didn't pick up letting the phone ring until it went silent.
"There's nothing to talk about, Damien," I said trying to move past him but he wasn't giving me the chance to.
"I had a tough night last night," He whispered, his eyes boring into mine. I drew in a shaky breath. "Jesus Tessa, I couldn't stop thinking about you. About those little sounds you make. How good your pussy feels..." He took a step closer, his eyes boring into mine.
God, I was feeling warm all over.
"Damien, this isn't right" I whispered.
"I have a proposition for you," He muttered and I blinked at him. This could never be good.
"I have to get back to work," I tried making an excuse, but he only smirked. What was it with this man?
"I'm the boss, Tessa. Remember?" His smile widened. "Don't worry, you ain't losing your job"
I frowned.
"Is this what this is about? As long as I please the boss, I ain't losing my job?" My voice was a pitch high. His expression fell.
"That's not what I meant Tessa. Goddamit" He cursed, running his fingers through his hair. I folded my arms in front of my chest. I need clarity then.
"Date me for a month. A month, Tessa. We can go our separate ways after that, that's if you want" He muttered and I blinked at him in disbelief.
"You're not being serious"
"I am Tessa. I'm very serious about us and I believe in this thing between us. Can you please, stop fighting it?" His eyes were pleading, his body was coiled in tension.
I swallowed nothing.
"I don't want to be the boss's plaything and I don't want the staff to think otherwise," I said and anger marred his features immediately.
"You think that's what you're going to be?" He asked but I ignored his question.
"I think it'd be better if you just quit trying. Nothing is going to happen between us, not with you as my boss" I stated flatly. He was silent for a second before he gave a wicked smile.
"Then should I fire you? That way it'd make you feel better that you're not a plaything. Jesus, how could you think that" He said and my eyes widened.
"You're not firing me, are you?"
"Tessa. Just think about it" He said instead. I only gave a stubborn sigh.
"This is it Damien. I just want our relationship to be strictly formal. No feelings attached" I said.
"What if I make you change your mind? What if I make you fall for me?" He asked and I chuckled because it was funny.
"I'd love to see you try"
"Watch me"
