12 - The Wedding (I)
One week later...
Early in the morning, Trevor woke me up with soft and tender kisses. It was the most anticipated moment of our lives after a long, frustrating parade.
After everything that we have gone through. Finally, my father agreed and accepted Trevor as his son-in-law.
Trevor did everything, proving to himself that he deserved to be my mate. Despite his mistakes in the past, he never gave me any reason to doubt why he came back to my life once more. Instead, he brought light to my chaotic life.
His presence was enough for our little family. It was one of my greatest dreams. Now it was all happening, making me the happiest luna in the world.
“Beautiful morning, my lady.”
Trevor whispered into my ears, giving me a tingling feeling.
Then he caressed the twins’ faces while I watched him with a smile on my lips.
“I couldn’t ask for more than this peaceful life with you,” he mumbled.
Listening to him made me emotional. We never thought our relationship would go this far. Considering we decided to live together for the twins’ sake. My heart was on cloud nine because of him, and that was all that mattered.
“Daddy loves you, so please don’t grow so fast.”
“They’ll grow if you don’t look after them,” I replied and giggled.
Trevor carried the twins with ease. He then played with them, giving me enough time to prepare.
“Come downstairs if you’re ready. Everyone is waiting for you, my beloved bride.”
“I will.” I answered.
Trevor walked through the door, carrying the twins, without saying anything. I saw happiness in his eyes, and I hoped it would remain the same until they grew old and fine.
“This is it, Therese! This is what you’ve been waiting for.”
I mumbled as tears of joy flowed down my cheeks.

“Here’s the bride!”
“Everyone, gather at once!”
Everyone in the mansion welcomed me with sweet smiles on their faces. Their eyes were telling me congratulations. They could no longer wait to transform me into the prettiest bride in history.
“This way, my lady.” One of the servants spoke.
They then accompanied me into the peaceful room. It was surrounded by flowers, a wedding dress, and everything I needed for today’s special union.
My heart couldn’t accept this overwhelming joy. After everything that I have gone through to reach this moment. Without Trevor, this wedding would never be possible. My life remained miserable, and lived as the abandoned luna until my last breath.
“Take a seat, my lady. We have only two hours left before the ceremony starts.” Jeda, my favorite servant, spoke behind me.
“Where’s the groom and the twins?”
Jeda smiled at me.
“Worry not, my lady. The groom is in Lord Thomas’ cabin, and he’s preparing for the wedding as well. Then the twins are sleeping.”
I took a deep breath in relief.
I hoped something wouldn’t happen before the wedding. Today is the perfect time. Once we lost it, I don’t think there would still be another chance.
“I must thank you for everything, Jeda. You’ve been good to me despite what happened in the past.”
I held her hands, showing how happy I am to have a good and faithful servant. Jeda was born the same year as me, and that was one of the reasons why we were comfortable with each other.
Overwhelmed, Jeda tapped my hands. Then she looked into my eyes.
“Don’t make me emotional, my lady. This is your special day, and I must fulfill my duty until my death.”
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” I mumbled.
Jeda replied with a smile.
She then started my transformation. Making sure it would attract and amaze all the guests, especially Trevor.
Suddenly, Jeda stopped putting the red lipstick on my lips.
“Lord Thomas is here,” Jeda said.
I sighed, turning around my gaze to see my father’s reaction.
“Oh, my beautiful daughter! I couldn’t recognize you now.”
Father welcomed me with a warm embrace. I knew it was only for a show, knowing there were a lot of servants in the room.
He then cupped my face, like a proud father who could no longer wait to walk in the aisle with his beloved daughter.
“Today is your special day, and I came here to wish you a happy marriage. I hope your marriage lasts forever like ours with your late mother.”
He didn’t hesitate to talk about my mother, whom he hurt for how many years. I couldn’t forget how he treated her my whole life.
“It will happen, father.”
I took steps closer and wrapped my arms around him.
“My marriage will be beautiful because Trevor is different from you. He would never hurt me like you did to my mother!”
I whispered it into his ears, preventing the servants from hearing it. I didn’t want to start a scene on my wedding day.
“I hope so, my lady.”
Father grinned and left me speechless.
It was the moment I realized that he was planning something vicious. I must do everything to stop him from ruining my life and taking my family away from me.

“You look like a goddess, Therese! I never thought you'd marry Trevor!”
Allison couldn’t wait any longer to see me. She rushed from the wedding venue to catch a glimpse of the bride before the ceremony.
It was one of our dreams—to see each other in a wedding dress.
“I can’t describe how I'm feeling right now! I could never… believe that I’m marrying the stranger with whom I slept a year ago!”
“You’re crazy!” Allison giggled.
We were talking about the past when Jeda caught our attention. She was with two servants, well-dressed, and ready to take me to the venue.
She said, “It’s time to go now, my lady. The groom, Lord Thomas, and the guests are waiting for you.”
My heart skipped a beat, realizing it was happening. Marrying Trevor was an impossible thing to happen, but now it is a reality.
“Hurry up, Therese! Let’s see each other at the venue!”
Before leaving, Allison gave me a white silk. She told me to open it once the ceremony was over. I had no idea what it was, but I knew she picked something I loved the most.
“See you around, Allison!”
I waved my hand as a goodbye.

Along the way to the venue, I noticed that the servants were too quiet. They never spoke to me, making me anxious and doubting their intentions.
To test their knowledge, I sighed and looked around the chariot. Then I opened the little window to ask a question.
“Where are we heading? I guess it’s a different path!”
Neither of them uttered a single word. Instead, they looked at each other strangely.
“I repeat! Where are you going to take me?”
One of them took a deep breath and looked straight into an eerie route. I have seen tall trees, surrounding us at the moment.
“Calm down, my lady! This is the route that they gave us,” he replied.
“Stop the chariot!”
I commanded.
I didn't yet know the mastermind behind this. But the only thing I needed to do was escape with one of the horses to make it into the venue before it was too late.
“I apologize, but we can’t follow your order!”
Little did I know that they prepared for this plan.
Before I could push the door, one of them went inside. He then covered my mouth with a black handkerchief, making me feel dizzy and weak.
“Let… let me… let me go!”
With all my strength, I pushed him away from me. But I failed to escape.
“I will punish you! I’ll make sure you pay for this!”
I screamed at the top of my lungs, hoping someone could hear my voice.
“I apologize, my lady. We’re being cruel to save our family from death.”
They were the last words I heard before I lost consciousness.
