Chapter 200
Chapter 200
[Amelia's POV]
The silver tent was like nothing I'd ever seen before.
This is really happening.
I sat perfectly still as the Pack's ceremonial makeup artist worked on my face, her hands steady and reverent. Around me, the tent shimmered with moonlight filtering through silver fabric, and I could see wolf and moon totems embroidered into every surface. The air smelled of sage and pine, ancient scents that made Ashley restless inside me.
Luna. You're going to be Luna.
The thought still felt impossible. Six months ago, I was serving coffee to strangers, worried about paying rent. Now I was about to become the leader of one of the most powerful Packs in North America.
"Tilt your chin up, dear," the makeup artist murmured, her voice gentle. She was an older Beta woman with kind eyes who'd been preparing Lunas for ceremonies longer than I'd been alive. "The moon paint needs to catch the light properly."
I lifted my chin, feeling the cool brush strokes across my cheekbones. Traditional silver markings that would shimmer under the full moon's glow. Each stroke felt like a step closer to something I couldn't turn back from.
Are you ready for this? Ashley whispered inside me, her excitement vibrating through my bones.
I don't know, I admitted to her. This is so much bigger than anything I imagined.
Through the tent's silver fabric, I could hear Pack members moving around outside, setting up the final preparations. Voices carried on the night air - respectful, excited, reverent. All of this activity, all of these powerful wolves... for me.
"Now for the dress," the makeup artist said, stepping back to admire her work.
Two other women entered the tent, carrying what looked like liquid moonlight between them. The traditional Omega lunar ceremony gown was breathtaking - deep midnight blue that seemed to shimmer with silver threads, cut in a classic A-line that would flow perfectly for dancing. The fabric felt impossibly soft against my skin as they helped me into it.
You look like a goddess, Ashley breathed, and for once, I almost believed her.
"Perfect," one of the women whispered as they finished adjusting the dress. "The Alpha will be speechless."
I caught my reflection in a mirror they'd placed in the corner. I barely recognized myself. The moon paint made my silver-gray eyes look luminous, and the dress transformed me from a nervous small-town girl into something... regal.
"It's time," the makeup artist said softly.
My heart hammered against my ribs as I pushed through the tent flaps and stepped into the sacred clearing.
Holy shit.
The ancient stone circle dominated the center of the clearing, each massive stone carved with wolf runes that seemed to pulse with their own inner light. Torches flickered around the perimeter, casting dancing shadows, but the full moon above us provided the main illumination. It felt like stepping into a fairy tale.
And there, at the top of the stone platform, stood Alex.
He wore traditional Alpha ceremonial robes - deep forest green trimmed with silver, the fabric cut to emphasize his broad shoulders and powerful build. But it was his face that made my breath catch. He looked... awed. Like he couldn't quite believe this was happening either.
At the base of the stone steps, I spotted Edward Pike standing next to an elegant woman with silver-streaked brown hair. Alex's mother, Lena Pike, the former Luna. When they saw me, Edward's usual stern expression softened into something I'd never seen before - warmth. Actual warmth.
Lena pressed her hand to her heart, tears glistening in her eyes as she nodded at me with obvious approval.
The Pack members formed a perfect circle around the stone platform, their faces turned up toward Alex and me with expectation and respect. I recognized many of them from the studio - Ethan, Violet, Oliver, Emily - but there were dozens of others I'd never met. All of them here to witness this moment.
"Come to me, Amelia," Alex called, his voice carrying easily across the clearing.
My legs felt shaky as I climbed the carved stone steps, but with each one, Ashley grew stronger inside me. By the time Alex took my hand at the summit, I could feel the moon's power washing over us both.
The Pack began to chant in the old wolf language, their voices rising and falling in harmonies that seemed to resonate in my bones. I didn't understand the words, but I felt their meaning - prayers to the Moon Goddess, requests for blessing and protection.
She's listening, Ashley whispered. Can you feel her?
I could. There was a presence in the moonlight, ancient and powerful and benevolent. My Omega nature reached toward it instinctively.
Alex turned to face me, taking both my hands in his. His amber eyes caught the moonlight, flickering between human and wolf.
"Amelia," he said, his voice carrying across the clearing. "From the moment I first caught your scent, I knew the Moon Goddess had chosen you for me. I let fear and Pack politics keep us apart when I should have claimed you immediately. I let you suffer doubt when I should have made my intentions clear."
His grip on my hands tightened.
"My father questioned whether an Omega from outside our Pack could truly understand what it means to lead. But your success, your strength, your compassion for every member of this Pack has proven what I've known all along - you were born to be Luna."
The moonlight seemed to intensify, pressing down on us like a living thing.
"So I ask you now, before the Moon Goddess and our Pack - Amelia Brown, my destined Omega, will you accept the position of Luna of Silver Moon Pack? Will you be my partner in all things, my equal in leadership, my mate for all the years the Goddess grants us?"
The clearing fell silent except for the crackling of torches. Every eye was on me.
Say yes, Ashley urged. This is what we've been moving toward all along.
I looked into Alex's amber eyes and saw everything I'd fallen in love with - his strength, his protectiveness, his hidden vulnerability. But more than that, I saw home.
"Yes," I said, my voice carrying clearly across the stone circle. "I accept the position of Luna. I accept you as my Alpha. I accept Silver Moon Pack as my family."
A beam of moonlight, brighter and more focused than anything natural, streamed down from above. It hit me like a physical force, warm and electric and transformative. I felt something fundamental shift inside me - not just Ashley, but me. Like a door opening in my soul that I hadn't even known was there.
Luna, Ashley whispered in awe. We're really Luna now.
The Pack erupted in howls of celebration, their voices rising to the moon in ancient song. Alex pulled me into his arms, crushing his mouth to mine in a kiss that tasted like moonlight and forever.
When we finally broke apart, still wrapped in each other's arms, the howling continued around us. Pack members shifting partially to wolf form, calling their joy to the night sky. Even Edward and Lena had their heads thrown back, adding their voices to the chorus.
This is perfect, I thought, listening to the wild music of my new family claiming me. This is exactly where I belong.
Alex pressed his forehead against mine, his eyes bright with unshed tears.
"Welcome home, Luna," he whispered.
The howling reached a crescendo, and I threw my own head back to add my voice to theirs - a sound I'd never made before but that felt as natural as breathing. Around us, Silver Moon Pack celebrated their new Luna under the light of the full moon.
I was home.
