Finally, Luke spoke, "Who are you?"
With that, Neil knew that his test had begun.
"My name's Neil Banks. My parents passed away. I enrolled in the military academy at the age of 18 and had served in the army for 8 years. After I retired, I established a private military company with the support of my comrades and some retiring pensions."
"What's your love experience?"
Neil regarded these men as his superiors and answered respectfully, "None. Gia's my first love." When he mentioned Gia, his eyes were full of tenderness. Such a look had been observed by the brothers, especially Valeria.
"What can you give Gia?" This time, it was Zac's turn to ask.
Neil guaranteed, "I'll give her happiness and protection. I'll love her for the rest of my life and never betray her."
Though Valeria didn't speak from the beginning, his eyes were fixated on Neil. If Neil dared to lie, he would recognize it at once. However, Neil didn't speak a lie at the moment.
"What do you like about Gia?"
Neil straightly answered, "I can't explain this. The first time I saw her, I felt that... she was very special. She's beautiful and cute. When she looked at me, I can't utter a word. Her voice is pleasing to hear, and her singing is rather... special..."
Neil talked a lot about Gia. He had always been calm and restrained, but whenever Gia was mentioned, he unconsciously became talkative.
Seeing this, the brothers had complicated feelings. So far, Neil's feelings for Gia were genuine, but they still felt bitter upon hearing stories about their sister from this man.
Luke asked, "You know martial arts?"
"Yes."
"Come and practice with us sometimes."
"Yes!" Though Neil had a bad premonition, he still replied with confidence.
The Miller family loved Gia very much, so it was understandable that they were reluctant to hand her over to others.
In the next few days.
The brothers took Neil to the training ground in the morning and only returned in the evening.
When Gia asked her brothers about this in private, they assured that they didn't harm Neil , but were just playing with him.
In fact, they just competed with Neil in different pieces of training to confirm his strength.
And the result revealed that Neil was as strong as the Miller brothers.
The day before the wedding, the brothers invited Neil for a drink.
They were usually self-restrained, but both David and Luke ended up drunk this night.
David and Luke patted Neil's shoulder.
"Treat Gia well!"
"If you dare to treat her badly, we'll never let you off!"
"Gia... She's our precious treasure... She's our lovely princess! We dare not think that she'll get married one day!"
"However... she chose you!"
You've picked up a big treasure, you know? You're... the happiest person in this world now!"
"From now on, Gia is in your hands! If you can't look after her anymore, don't hesitate to call us. Don't worry, we won't beat you to death! You just need to give Gia back to us, and we'll take good care of her!"
As he listened to his future in-laws' nagging, Neil was moved.
He understood their reluctance and worries towards Gia.
He promised that he would take good care of Gia and make her happy for the rest of her life.
On the day of the wedding.
David and Hania sat under the stage whilst holding hands.
Luke and Jovannie held each other's hand as well. They watched Lovette, who was dressed in a lovely white dress, follow behind Gia as the flower girl.
Zac and his wife, Elliana Ferrell, also looked at the newlywed happily.
So were Valeria and Donty.
As soon as Neil and Gia said their marriage vows and exchanged their rings, both Hania and Jovannie noticed that their husbands' eyes turned red.
As he held Hania's hand tightly, David never looked away from his daughter.
Hania patted his hand comfortingly. She knew that he was reluctant to part with their daughter.
"Gia will be happy," she said.
"I know."
This was the first time Luke shed tears since he reached adolescence. He had been watching over Gía since she was an infant.
Now that she was married, he seemed to have given away one of his most cherished treasures.
He could imagine how reluctant and happy he would be when his dear Lovette grew up and married someone.
Jovannie sensed Luke's emotions. Though he seemed to be calm and restrained, his heart stirred like the waves.
He had given all his love and care to the family he desired to protect.
Jovannie hugged her husband and said, "It's okay. Gia didn't leave you. She'll always be loved, and so are you."
Luke nodded. "You're right."
He had a happy life thanks to this family. He used to be alone and emotionless, but when he learned that he had a family, the emptiness in his heart was gradually filled.
And now, he had Jovannie and Lovette by his side. His life was complete and happy.
Gia's life would also be filled with happiness from now on. As her brother, he would always care for her.
On the other hand, Zac burst into tears. With a tender gaze, Elliana took out a handkerchief and wiped his tears away.
Although Valeria was expressionless, Donty could feel his hands tremble.
Holding Neil's hand, Gia looked at her family under the stage and her tears unconsciously rolled down from her eyes.
Once she came down from the stage, she straightly hugged her parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law.
She had a family who loved her very much. She was truly the happiest person in this world.
She hoped that all the people she loved could stay happy forever.
"I love you! I love you very much!"
Upon hearing her aunt's words, Lovette echoed cheerfully, "Lovette loves everyone too! I love Grandpa, Grandma, Daddy, Mommy, and my uncles and aunts!"
"We love you too!"
Lovette and Gia were the princesses of the Miller family.
After hugging his sister, Luke picked Lovette up and whispered in her ear, "I love you, sweetie."
He then turned to Jovannie with a gentle look and said, "I love you too, honey."
"I love you as well, darling."
Seeing the happy smiles on their children's faces, David and Hania exchanged glances and smiled as well.
Their happiness would remain forever, and so were their stories.
