Margot
One Year Later
It hadn’t been the plan to get married in Paris. I had imagined a small gathering at a family church back home. But then, Paris, the Island of Love, swept me off my feet, and I knew we had to do it here. Constance and Mac, despite being six months pregnant, flew in to join us, and Mom and Gregwere already with us, so it was just a matter of finding the perfect dress. With a little help, the dress I wore at the ceremony was nothing short of perfect.
The scent of roses filled the air as Paris in spring became the stunning backdrop for our wedding. Mom walked me down the aisle, and Gregcarried our son, Anderson, with the rings. It was a quick ceremony, but the long dinner that followed was magical. We danced under the stars, toasted with expensive champagne, and laughed until we were drunk, while Constance and Mac babysat Anderson, preparing for their own son. We even managed to break the hotel bed, waking up with terrible hangovers.
The vacation continued to be nothing short of magical, and it ended with Gregproposing to Mom. I knew I was a lucky woman—excited to go to Paris and just as excited to return home. Three weeks into our marriage, I discovered we had brought something extra back from Paris.
I walked into Lucas’s office, clutching a positive pregnancy test. Lucas, Ryder, and Jaxon were gathered around the desk, reviewing blueprints for the house they were planning to build for us. Ryder, with Anderson wrapped on his chest in a dinosaur-patterned wrap, looked up and smiled when he saw me.
“I thought you were meeting with Beth about her wedding plans,” Lucas said, coming around the desk to kiss me. As always, he picked me up and placed me gently on his desk, the blueprints crinkling under me, but no one seemed to mind.
“Mom wants me to handle it all. She just wants to be married within the next six months.” I kept my hand close to my thighs, hiding the test. “Are you guys almost done for the day?”
“We were just finishing up. Are you okay?” Ryder asked, his concern evident as he moved to cup my cheek. “You look a little pale.”
I smiled as Anderson yawned and reached out for me. Ryder passed him to me, and I held him close, taking comfort in his warmth and the calm he brought. I pressed my lips to his head, inhaling his familiar scent, listening to him babble at me.
“Bubba?” Lucas’s voice was soft, curious.
I took a deep breath, steadying myself. “I have a late wedding present for you guys.”
Jaxon leaned in to study me and then his eyes widened. He rubbed his jaw and let a slow smile stretch his mouth. “Oh, yeah?”
I blushed and looked away. “I’m worried it’s not something you wanted right now.”
Lucas ran his hands up my thighs and spread them so he could step between. When he looked down and saw the pregnancy test, he stilled, though. “Margot?”
I drew in another deep breath. And then another. “It’s too soon. Anderson isn’t even a year old yet. My pregnancy with him was rough at times. It’s going to be a lot, having two babies so close together. I didn’t think it could happen so-”
Lucas plucked Anderson from my arms and pressed his lips to mine. “Hold that thought.”
I gaped at him as he hurried from his office. Looking at Jaxon and Ryder, I shrugged. “Is he expecting us to pretend like I didn’t just tell you both I’m pregnant?”
Jaxon pulled me into his arms and laughed. “You’re worried about nothing, Bubba. This is good news. Plus, we kind of suspected.”
“Yeah. You begged for us the other night like you did when you were pregnant with Andy.” Ryder groaned. “I really hope Lucas was taking Andy to your mom and Gregor.”
“I did.” Lucas came back in, breathing hard. He took his place between my thighs again and unclipped my hair. Running his fingers through it, he held my gaze and gently eased me back until I was lying across the desk. “I love you and everything you are, baby. I love that you’re going to grow our second child in your amazing body. I love all of the specialness of it. But…”
I frowned. “What?”
His grin was dark. “Selfishly, I love the way you turn into a needy little thing when you’re pregnant. I love the way you takeus when you’re pregnant, love the way your body grows for us. Here.”
I gasped as he cupped my breasts.
“And here.” She flipped up my shirt and lowered his mouth to my stomach. “I love the way you come when you’re pregnant, like everything is right in the world for a while.”
“Everythingisright in my world.” I gripped his hair and tugged his mouth up to mine. “This is really okay?”
Jaxon pushed Lucas out of the way and gripped my leggings. Pulling them down, he barely had them off before he had two fingers in me. “You’re our wife. Our very wet wife who is going to give us more babies. How could it not be okay?”
I moaned, the wild need already blossoming out from my core. “It’s not too soon?”
Ryder pinched my nipples, forcing a loud moan from me. “Never. Now spread your legs and tip your head back, baby. Let us give you what you need.”
