Chapter Thirty-Eight
The short blonde stared nervously into the night. He dialed a phone number on the public telephone, tapping nervously as it rang. Immediately it was picked, he spoke.
"Hello, it's Tony."
"Did you do what I asked you to do?" The hoarse voice asked.
"Yes, I did. Now can...can I please have my son back?" Tony asked.
"Perfect. I hope no one found out about it?"
"No, they didn't find out. Please can I have him now?"
The laughter he heard over the phone gave him the chill. "You want him alive, don't you?"
"I did what you asked me to do. Now give me back my son!"
"Answer the damn question?!" Tony mumbled a yes. "Come before midnight If you're early, I can be generous."
Tony's grip on the telephone tightened as he held back his frustration. He hasn't been himself since his son became a victim.
His son, Tony placed the telephone back where it belonged. He couldn't hold in his vulnerability anymore. He held his lips, trying to hold back the sob, but he began sobbing uncontrollably. His son was the only family he had left. Instead of his son, it was his wife that was six feet under the ground. If only his son had listened to him then he wouldn't have been in the wrong place and at the wrong time.
That man with a scar had a knife to his son's neck before Tony could get hold of him.
"Please I beg of you let him go." He remembered saying.
'Here's the number, call me when there's result."
The memory was traumatizing. He slid to the floor carefully, burying his hands in his hair in frustration.

"You said it's hers?" Daniel nodded grabbing the necklace almost immediately.
He remembered her wearing it once, and that was the time she dared to kiss him, the first time he had professed his love to her.
"Are you crazy about me like I am with you?"
He didn't know when he swallowed at the flashback.
"Let me have a look at it," Darius requested and Daniel gave it to him.
"It was cut, she must have ripped it off her neck.'
"Or he did." Daniel interfered but Gabriel shook his head.
"He wouldn't even want to leave a trace. If it was him, what is he trying to tell us, that he was here?"
"No," Darius added. "It doesn't sum up, she must have ripped it off, to let us know she was here." Darius concluded and they agreed.
"Where do we go from here?" Daniel asked but no one had an answer to that yet. The situation itself was confusing, all they knew was that her ex-boyfriend had her and they had to find her before he does something that would never be resolved.

Coming into view was an old ware house, almost in the middle of nowhere. The fire burnt continually, making a very familiar sound. The room was hot. That was what this woman noticed at first but to her, something wasn't right. She last remembered meeting up with that bastard.
She was the reason her son's wife was taken and all she wanted was to make things right but no, It didn't work out like she expected.
She last remembered walking to her car. She groaned. Why on Earth couldn't she remember?
Her head, ached like never before and she kept on hearing a voice calling out to her. Her vision gradually cleared and her gaze handed on the figure before her.
"Mom,"
"Mom, wake up. Can you hear me?"
Kara blinked and her eyes could now focused on one thing. She glanced around only to come to face her Clarissa.
"Mom." Clarissa called.
"She's awake..."
Kara heard a masculine voice tell and then footsteps. She shut her eyes trying to ease her head and when she opened them. She came to face with her enemy.
"Finally," Jack started, "You are up. I was beginning to think I would wait another day."
"Oh my God mother, are you alright?" Clarissa asked and Kara nodded.
"My head just hurts but I'm fine." Kara replied.
She finally took in where she was. Her eyes landed on Clarissa's face pleading with her. But she paused as she took a better look at her daughter-in-law.
"Oh my God, you hit her!" She blurted out. "You couldn't have!"
"Mom, I promise I'm alright." Kara took another look at her bruised face. Her face hardened as she turned her stare to Jack in anger. She finally noticed the one figure she ignored before.
"What are you trying to prove huh!" She yelled. "We had an agreement not to touch the girl." The man only smiled.
"That wasn't my doing." On impulse, her stare went to the man besides him and when they return to Jack, he smiled at her. "I told you, didn't I? That I'd teach you how to keep a deal."
"Do you think you'll get away with this, you are insane!"
"Don't you think that I haven't already?" With that he walked away leaving Nicholas to both of them.
"Hey idiot, get a knife and cut this rope off!"
"It's no use mom, he won't listen." Her eyes darted to Nick again and she swallowed when their eyes locked.
She never knew Nick would go through extreme measures just to make her love him. Clarissa was sure now that even if she had never hated anybody in her life, she had come to despise him.
Disgusting!!
She looked away when he wouldn't dare be the first to look away.

Clara used the opportunity to enter Daniel's room, searching anywhere she thought she could find the documents. He was supposed to sign them. It should be somewhere around...
here?
No!
She searched under his pillows before entering his dressing room. She opened his wardrobe, searching...
"What the fuck are you doing in my room?!"
***
"All you were supposed to do was easy. Just make him sign the fucking documents, transfer everything to me and I would finally let you go. What were you thinking? That I would spare you if you came empty handed again?"
He scoffed. "Haven't I been generous with time all this time? Why would you think I would want some fucking written papers without his signature on them, and you thought I would let you go so easily?"
"I gave you extra money." Kara stated.
"Well I didn't ask for a bonus. I might as well have both the document and the money."
"What document is he talking about mom?" Clarissa sat up in alert.
The woman shook her head. "No, no don't listen to him!"
"Isn't it time to tell the tale yourself Kara or should I do it for you?"
"You aren't supposed to go this far Jack. This isn't how it's supposed to be."
"You're right. This isn't how it is supposed to be but the thing is, I can't watch you live your life the way you want it at my expense. I have suffered enough and it's your turn now."
"Mother, what is going on? What is he talking about? Did you do something?"
"I'm sorry," Kara only said. "I'm so sorry."
"What did you do? You can tell me, everything will be alright. Just tell me."
"I…I did something terrible, really terrible. I—" she swallowed. "Forgive me, please."
"Don't start with all this drama now," Jack teased.
"Well she isn't talking to you!" Clarissa snapped but flinched when Jack pointed a gun at her head.
"One more slimy statement." He dared.
"Jack?" Jack turned to Nick who shook his head at him. He sighed and brought the gun down to his side.
"I'm pretty sure you should watch your mouth if you want to come out of here alive or else, I'll teach you how to do it." Jack said before walking away mumbling something of 'Rich people and their rude attitude, disgusting!'
