Chapter Thirty-Five

(Flashback)

He paid the woman that just sold him a box of chocolate before heading back to the car. Darius sighed when he heard the music of his ring tone.

This is what he gets for closing early from work.

"Yes, Lieutenant Gabriel," he answered. “What is it?"

"Well we just found out that Phillip hasn't visited his gambling site for two months. What do you think?"

"Well...shouldn't that be because he had no money?"

"He still had enough points, yet he didn't access the account...that's something unusual for gamblers."

"Look this issue, we'll look well into it when I come into the office tomorrow, I—" he was interrupted when someone bumped into him. The man literally had a face cap on. His thick jacket protecting him from cold as his hands were stuck into pocket.

The rude man didn't even stop to say sorry.

"Hey, next time watch where you're going!" Darius blurted out and that forced the man to turn and mutter a quick sorry and Darius looked away with disinterest once again but almost immediately, he turned back to stare at the guy, familiarity struck in him. The face was recognizable yet he couldn't quite place his fingers to it.

"Yes Gabriel, I'm listening,"

(End of Flashback)

"Sir, I think I have the information of where he lives."

Darius followed him. "He hadn't quite lived in one location for a long time, he had been moving for one reason or the other but we were able to trace out where he lives now and I think that will be a good place to start." Darius nodded and leaned into the computer to take note of the address right after scanning the photograph of the suspect with his eyes.

"Daniel, I need to talk to you," her brother sighed before dropping the file he was holding and giving his sister attention. It was a forced action because he knew the idea of distracting himself with work wasn't going to help one bit.

"What's going on between you on Clara?" He frowned.

"What do you mean what is going on, nothing is going on"

"What did she need to say to you that she didn't say it in front of everyone?"

"Listen Clara, I don't know where this is heading, I don't know what is on your mind about us but she and I discussed a few things—Wait a minute...you can't actually be thinking that?" he scoffed and she looked away.

"Do you actually think that she would carve her way back into my life?"

"I don't know, I'm just thinking a lot lately, I can't help what I think about. But you know I really like Clarissa for you and I don't want to think that you're changing your mind. For goodness' sake she could have a motive." He held her by the shoulder.

"Never. Look, I know what you're thinking and no it's not that, she just cleared the air about some things. Besides, my heart already belongs to someone else and I can't abandon her when she needs me the most." His words were of assurance and she was one to smile to them.

She breathed weakly. It's been two days and Nick hadn't come for her yet. Her hands were stuck to the bed like how he left her the other day. Her hands ached like seriously.

She gasped. When last had she had water. Like two days ago and her throat was beginning to beg for it. She had woken a thousand times only to meet the same dull colored walls.

Were they even looking for her? Would he even look for her after their huge fight? She doubted so. Sobbing silently, she leaned unto the headboard in thoughts.
