Chapter 85 Hi, Baby

Chapter 85 Hi, Baby
ONE YEAR LATER

Uriel's POV

"Bia?" I stared blankly at the girl who was supposed to be my new roommate.

My old roommate was pulled out from the school by her rich folks who thought they just couldn't control her enough from where they were.

Annoying piece of shit.

Hence why I was being assigned a new roommate in my second year of school at Brain College.

"Can I come in?" She raised her eyebrow, pushing her bag forward.

I blinked several times before nodding frantically, helping her inside with her box.

"God, I'm so sorry. I was just -"

"Not who you expected, I know. I don't expect us to be so good after what happened in highschool but I hope we can keep that aside and just cohabit." She smiled small.

I had long forgiven all of them. In fact, since I moved city, I turned over a new leaf and so far, everything had been working out well for me.

My friends schooled in different universities from mine. Lance attended Brin College, Kathie entered into Fashion Design school and Chloe went into special training for Air Hostess.

During the summer, we made sure we spent it together for a week or so before going back to our families.

"We can do that." I concurred, showing her around the room.

The air between us was tense and awkward but I was sure we'd get over it as time went by.

"I have classes by 12 PM. So, I'll be leaving to grab brunch and then head to class. I'll be back by 4 PM latest because I don't have any work shift today."

Bia nodded, listening to everything I said. "I'd unpack and arrange then."

"Call me if you need me to get you anything while coming back, okay?" Slinging my tote bag over my shoulder, I told her.

"T...thank you."

After I shut the door behind me, I let out a long breath that I didn't even know I was holding.

Having Bia with me shouldn't be much of a problem right?

Anyway, I wasn't that girl anyone could trample on again.

As I waited on the line to take my order, my phone rang.

"Heyy Kiddo!" My father cheered, smiling brightly once his face popped on my screen.

"Hi father." My lips stretched into a smile instantly. My father's smile was so contagious.

"Where are you? Have you eaten? How's classes coming off? Is anyone bullying you?" He bombarded me with thousand of questions.

"Oh Paul, she's a big girl now. I'm sure she can take care of anything. Right, Uri?" Ciara popped her head beside my father's.

I paused for a while, my pupils dilating as I watched the both of them. They waved their hand on the camera, checking if I was still with them.

I was, honestly. I just couldn't help but be happy for my father and Ciara for finding love in themselves.

You saw the look between them that day right?

I knew it was going to bring something good.

"Just turn it off, Paul."

"No, hold on a bit baby. I think she'll come back."

"It's a video call! It's either network or - "

"Will you two ever stop bickering like youths?" Chuckling, I finally spoke up.

"You went mute." My father said, holding Ciara's hand that was placed on his shoulder.

"Sorry, you both just looked too good. Meanwhile, I'm good. Everything's fine." I kept out the part where Bia was my roommate. I didn't want to stress him anymore.

"Your dad would be going for surgery in 3 weeks. I just thought you'd like to know, darling." Ciara spoke up.

"Baby! I thought we said we weren't going to stress her with that information." My father turned to Ciara.

"I feel like you'll need her."

"I'll come. Make sure to keep me posted before time."

"You don't -"

"I've already decided." Then I looked at Ciara. "Thank you, Ciara. Really."

She flapped her hand in the air, telling me that it meant nothing.

"I better run to class before I go late and I'm made to stand outside for a while." Taking my order, I told my father.

"Okay, bye Riel." They both waved at me, ending the call.

"Cool family." Someone said from behind me. Jumping up, I snapped my head to the weird guy whose lips was pierced. "Something good or bad is coming your way. It depends on how you read it."

He wasn't looking at me but since it was just him and I left, I knew he was talking to me.

Cold shivers slithered down my spine.

"Have a good day?" I eyed him up and down, scurrying away.

I found a spot to quickly eat and then rushed to class. I liked to get seated 15 minutes before classes started. It helped me relax.

"Hey!" I had just entered the hallway when someone yelled in my ear, making me jump up in fear, clutching my beating heart.

"Can you guys stop doing that?" I shot Shelly a glare.

Shelly giggled, pointing at me, "I got you!"

Rolling my eyes, I continued walking slowly.

"Have you heard? The basketball team is adding a new member today."

Mhm-hmm, this was Shelly for you. She was very current with the latest trends but yet you wouldn't find her gossiping. I didn't even know how she did it. She called it kite ears. Whatever that was.

Shelly was the very first girl to approach me on my first day and smoothly, we blended. She was quiet and wild when it called for it. I really liked her.

"Good."

"Come onnnn. You can't finish from here without a college sweetheart." Shelly groaned.

Halting, I raised my eyebrow at her. "Tell me about it."

She avoided my gaze, looking at anywhere but my eyes. "I'm working on my relationship life okay? Besides, you know I was seeing Jerry last session until I got bored."

I opened my mouth to say something but swallowed it back when she placed her hand on my mouth.

"You're not allowed to do that. Yes, you can't defend yourself. Look, I know you were hurt by a basketballer but hey, don't judge the rest based on one asshole. Take a look at Mickey."

She wrapped her hand around my shoulder, "he's tall, hot, charming and good at what he does best."

"Fucking anything with skirt?" I asked, glaring at Mickey who was shamelessly flirting with some girl.

"Okay, ignore that one. Look at Joseph." She titled my head to one guy with a spike hairstyle.

"Jesus, no." I shook my head frantically. "Not the musician."

Shelly cackled loudly. "You're not a good person, Uri."

"Look Shelly, I believe that what's mine will come to me without stress. And when I see it, I'll know."

She rolled her eyes, taking her hands off my shoulder with a small frown. A soft laugh erupted my lips but that was quickly replaced with a horrified look as I watched the basketball drive with full force to my face.

"Ahhh!" I screamed, shielding my face with my palm.

My heart was beating so fast, my chest heaving up and down as I waited for the impact that never came.

My body froze when I felt two hands on each side of my arms. The familiar wood and mint cologne first hit my nostrils, then slowly, my eyes crawled up until it landed on the least person I expected to see.

"Hi, Baby." His voice was loud and laced with possessiveness, sending butterflies to my stomach.

My mouth parted slightly, my eyes refusing to leave his.

My breath hitched when he leaned down until his lips were touching my earlobe. He whispered softly, "Did you miss me, Kinky?"
