Chapter 61 Ship
Uriel's POV
"I can't believe you two kissed in front of ..."
"So many eyes. A whole lot." Kathie completed the statement for Chloe.
Sinking my face into my palm, I deadpanned, "don't remind me about itttt."
"Bro, I was shocked! I was like 'somebody pinch me'. Like what the hell!" Kathie grinned, pulling my hand away from my face.
Chloe's hand dropped on my shoulder, followed by her body crashing to my side, "for what it's worth, I'm super proud of you."
"How'd you feel though?" Kathie wiggled her eyebrow at me.
"Yes, tell us!"
Sighing, I looked between both of them and then shook my head. It was so embarrassing to talk about.
Especially since it was my first kiss.
Gosh!
"Come onnnn." Chloe shook me by my shoulder.
"Okay fineee." I raised my hands up in the air, breathing out shaky breaths. My eyes were glued to my thigh as I spoke, "it was better than I expected my first time to be."
"Go on..."
"There were sparks and I ... I didn't want it to end." Slowly I raised my eyes up, looking at them shyly. "I felt something..."
Different.
New
Like a feeling.
An overwhelming one.
"Ouuuu." Chloe cooed. "Ryuri but with an R in front. What do you think Kathie?"
"Or Deriel." Kathie pointed at Chloe.
A soft laughter bursted out of my lip, my body throwing itself back to the bed.
"God you two are unbelievable!"
"Ryuri"
"No, Deriel."
And that was how they kept arguing back and forth, trying to get the other to accept the ship name.
"Guys. Guys!" I yelled after the first low attempt to call them to order. They both snapped their head at me, yelling back "what?"
"Seriously, stop. There's... There's nothing between us. There's never gonna be."
I thought I had said something serious but instead I got a very weird reaction from the both of them as they burst into fits of laughter, rolling on the ground.
"What?" I questioned, eyeing them.
"Have you two met each other? Are you seeing this guy's action?" Kathie questioned back.
"He fought Chase. He beat up Finch. He has stepped in for you times without number. Girl, he studied that dance and showed up for you! I don't know what to say about what he did!" Chloe's voice held disbelief.
It was true
I needed to thank him for that
Ryder saved me.
Again.
"So you...you think he likes me?" I asked shyly, tugging at the hem of my shirt.
Kathie's face turned serious as she looked at me, "we will figure that out now."
"H...how?"
"Good question." Chloe jumped up to her feet. "So, Kathie and I have been thinking..."
My head bobbed up and down slowly as I looked from Kathie to Chloe, waiting for them to let me in.
"How about you don't bring up the kiss thing. I know people would be talking about it but do not be the first to bring it up with him." Kathie explained.
"Uhh..."
"Listen, if it means something at least, to him, just like it means something to you, then he'd bring it up." Chloe expatiated.
"What if he's waiting for me to bring it up?" I raised my eyebrow at them
"Ew." Kathie's face scrunched up in disgust. "Allow him bring it up first. That's the way it should be."
"Mm-hmmm" Chloe nodded.
Kathie's phone pinged first, making her go silent - but with a bright smile on her face. Then suddenly, Chloe's phone chimed up with a call, which she excused herself to take.
And me...
Well, my phone pinged
My heart seized.
First thought was that maybe it was Ryder.
However, when I saw the name, my face fell.
New Message:
Lancey:
~What is this news I see about you and Ryder kissing?
~Tell me it's edited, Uriel.
~Haven't you learnt your lesson from this guy?
~What do you even see in him?
~Answer me!
~You shouldn't go close to him, he's bad for you.
~I should've known he'd try to force you to kiss him.
"What the..." Frowning, I eyed my screen.
As if that wasn't enough, Cain's name popped up in my screen for the umpteenth time since the dance.
He had the guts to even try to call me. Just like every other time, I hung up, sighing loudly.
"What's the matter?" Kathie asked, bringing her phone down but her smile still intact. In fact, it was being replaced with mischief.
"Just Lance and Cain."
"I don't even want to talk about Lance." Chloe growled as she made her way into the room. "He kept texting me about how bad of a friend I was for letting you get so close with Ryder."
"I feel like..."
"He likes Uriel. Right?" Chloe completed.
Scoffing, I shook my head. "How can you both say this. No! Hell no. He doesn't."
"Anywho! We're going out." Kathie said in a sing-song tone.
"And the boys are sponsoring." Chloe added, smiling brightly.
My face suddenly turned pale, my eyes flying wide open. "The boys?"
"Mason, Peter and Ryder. The boys." Kathie said casually, forgetting what it meant. "Oh shit!"
Or maybe she didn't.
"Calm down." Chloe placed her two hands on each of my shoulders. "It can't be that bad. We just thought it'll be fun to hang out. You know, we're both seeing the two guys."
"You guys didn't tell me!" I covered my mouth in shock
"Sorry, we were going to!" Kathie pouted. "We're so sorry."
Shaking my head, I said, "still not going. I'll just wait for you guys to return."
I was staying with Chloe for few days because I didn't want to see Emma and didn't want to face my mother. Though I talked to my dad on phone regularly and promised I'd return soon.
I was also running away from him, you know. Seeing him reminds me of my betrayal.
"This..." Kathie held one of my hand while Chloe took the other. "is the only way you'd find out if Ryder likes you. Even if its just a bit."
"I'm shy." I whined, shaking my head adamantly like a spoilt 4 year old child.
"Girls! Are you expecting fine, hot boys?" Mrs. Lauren asked from the door, a sly smirk on her lips
"Oh no!" I cried, wanting to get away from their grip but it was too late as they were pulling me down the stairs.
"I don't know but that guy with braided cornrow... Damn!" We heard Mrs. Lauren say.
"Mum!" Chloe scolded, looking over her shoulder, to her mum.
"Chill. I didn't say I'd adopt him as my sugar boy." Mrs Lauren said, cracking us all up - except Chloe.
She looked like she had seen a ghost.
I feel her.
"Let's just get the hell out of here." Chloe opened the door, leaving us behind.
"I'mma keep an eye on some hotter sugar boy if I see, mama L." Kathie yelled, loud enough for Chloe to here.
"Keep indulging her and I'd be having a long ass conversation with your mama, Kat." Chloe yelled.
Snickering, I covered my mouth.
They were quick to end it all when we reached the boys. We all exchanged pleasantries except one person.
Ryder.
He looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here.
"Sit in front." Kathie mouthed, opening the passengers door while the other four climbed the back of the jeep.

Swallowing hard, I closed the door gently, my whole body tensed from just feeling the heat of his skin on mine.
My head stiffly turned to the side, wanting to get a glimpse of his face.
His eyes were already pinned against mine when my eyes finally met his. A small smirk appeared on his lips as he said, "Seatbelts."
"Y-yeah."
The minute the belt locked against my waist, he drove off, ignoring my whole existence.

It wasn't even his fault.
I initiated the kiss.
Now, I feel stupid.
"Race you guys to the cliff!" Kathie said once we all came down. That was how all four of them left us to each other.
More like, we wouldn't move from where we stood so close to each other, our shoulders brushing slightly.
Gosh, this was so awkward.
Sighing frustratedly, I decided to say something. Maybe apologize for starting the kiss.
"Look, Ryder -"
"Uriel, I want -"
We both said simultaneously, clamping our mouth shut immediately too. Then we nodded at each other to continue.
"No, you go first." Licking my lips, I mewled.
His jaw clenched, his temple ticking as his eyes bore deep into my blue ones.
"Uriel..."
