Chapter 33 Humiliating
Uriel's POV
"Eyes up, Kennedy."
Those were Ryder's favorite words since we partnered up.
"You don't want me reporting you for assault." Ryder held my chin up, a smug smirk on his lips.
Threats...
Upon threats.
I don't know if he was doing whatever just to annoy me,
Or
I was actually looking down.
How could I not?
When all he wore throughout was...
Nothinggggg!!!!
Okay, briefs... Yeah
But he was literally shirtless and boy was his body a fucking masterpiece.
"I'm only doing my job." I replied him, looking away.
"By checking me out? Some excuse you've got there." He mocked, turning away.
"It's not like there's something... something interesting to see there." I shot back, wanting to bruise his ego.
He halted, turning sideways to me. Then his lips lifted up in a smirk, "at least lie with confidence, Kennedy."
I opened my mouth to tell him to fuck off, but then he dived into the pool.
Huffing, I began to time him. Just like I had done for days now.
I was made to pay more attention to his body. I had to ensure he stayed hydrated, takes his vitamin and ensure he's strong to swim.
Oh, I also had to check his heart rates and count his strokes.
No. Not that type of strokes.
Strokes. Like, swim strokes.
"2 minutes. Your backstroke needs improvement, Connell." I told him, jotting down my daily remark for the coach.
He frowned at me, pulling himself out of the water. His muscle flexed, making the girls - who had increased in number - squeal in adoration.
I shot them a glare.
They were getting on my nerves.
"Are you sure your timing is accurate, Kennedy?" Ryder stretched his hand. Rolling my eyes, I handed him a towel.
"Do you want me to increase it to 5 minutes?" I challenged.
He took a step forward, his eyes holding my gaze. Then slowly, he growled. "I dare you, Kennedy."
"Put on a shirt." I adviced, wanting to move away when he grabbed my arm, pulling me closer into his cold body.
I swallowed hard, my breathing running wild as he leaned down, "does it affect you, Kennedy?"
"I... You..."
"Feed me." He cut me off, slowly releasing my hand from his grip.
"Huh?"
"Water." He used his chin to point at the bottle under my arm.
My eyes darted to the girls who looked at us with calculative stares.
"What? Are you shy?" Ryder scoffed, raising my face up by my chin. "You know what this thing means for you. You need my remark."
I eyed him disgustingly, pushing his hands down. Grudgingly, I held up the bottle to his lips, placing the straw in the middle of his parted lips.
His eyes never left mine as he sucked.
I didn't even know my breath had seized from watching him. As if he was sucking me dry.
Shit
"That will be all for today." I shoved his clothes into his chest, turning away to pack up the gear bag for his swimming.
He turned away, walking into the mini toilet to change up and wash up the chlorine.
I had to turn in his bag to him, so I had to wait.
Girls rushed to him, trying to hold a conversation. I would catch his eyes darting to me from time to time as he forced out a reply to them.
When I saw him walking to me, I braced myself up. My face was neutral. My hands stretched out.
"Here. Your bag."
He took it, opening it.
I rolled my eyes at his insinuation.
"Where do you think you're going, Kennedy?" He pulled me back by dress.
Arghhhh!!!
I turned with speed, my glare deadly. "What?"
"We're going together to the cafeteria." He stated, walking forward.
Yeah... He had started using the cafeteria.
Something about reclaiming his spot on the hierarchy chart.
"No, we're not. It's already enough that we are paired together." I shook my head, trying to walk past him.
"You say it as if it's a bad thing, Kennedy." His tone was mocking.
"It is!" I groaned, looking at him.
He huffed, picking my hands pulling me with him. His teammates followed behind.
"You have to review my biology assignment before I submit it." He said, his tone dry.
"Excuse you?"
"I didn't stutter, Kennedy." He stopped miles away from the door, glaring at me.
"I have a life. Why do you always seize every little opportunity you get, to torture me!" I almost cried.
His eyes were void of emotion as he stared into my eyes. "I don't want to look for you." He left my hands, walking towards the door.
I allowed all of them to go inside first. My eyes twitched, my heart picking up its rate.
I bit my lips, shaking my head.
After taking a deep breath, I walked into the cafeteria. My eyes travelled to where my friends sat. They looked happy one minute and confused the next minute as I walked to Ryder's table.
I saw Kathie try to stand up but Chloe hold her back. Their eyes met mine and I just forced a smile, secretly telling them to drop it.
If Kathie's eyes could kill though, Ryder would've been six feet under.
"Where's the book?" I asked him, stretching my hand out.
"Why are you in a rush, Kennedy?" He relaxed back, folding his arms.
He loved the attention.
I didn't.
Or maybe he loved humiliating me?
Matthew, one of his teammates, came back with two trays of food. He dropped one in front of me and another for himself.
The murmuring grew louder. The hairs on my neck stood, my anxiety creeping up.
"Eat." Ryder ordered.
My eyes stayed glued to the plate for some minutes. Seeing I had not much choice and with the way my stomach twisted, I picked up the fork.
Before I could stab the veggies first, a ball of paper landed on my plate, contaminating the food.
A soft gasp left my lips, my appetite dropping as fast as they came. Ryder's jaw ticked, his hands folding into a fist.
I placed my hand on his knee before he could do anything.
He looked at me, his eyes dark.
"Don't bother." I said lowly. "I wasn't even hungry anyway." I lied.
"Bullshit." His chair scrapped backward when we all heard a loud growl.
"Go there and fucking apologize!" Chase pointed at me, his voice hard.
Ryder and I shared a look. His was laced with anger and mine was that of confusion.
"Don't make me repeat myself, Rita."
The girl reluctantly came to my table, apologizing with tears in her eyes.
God
I wanted the ground to just swallow me.
"You shouldn't have done that." I told Chase softly when he came to the table.
"Would he have done that?" Chase eyed Ryder.
Urghh, not today.
"Anyways, are you down for what we discussed to do after school?" Chase smirked, glancing at Ryder.
I was at a loss for words for a few seconds.
Did we...
Oh shit.
The eat out.
"Ahh... I wish I could but I'll be busy helping...Ryder." she smiled at Ryder. "I'll be helping him practice. You know my new role as his assistant."
Ryder scoffed lowly, looking between Chase and I. Smirking, he leaned closer, his lips brushing against my earlobe, sending shivers down my spine.
I froze, my heart stopping for a while.
"Don't use me to lie, Kennedy. Remember, you chose him." He whispered, moving away - taking the heat with him.
"So what are you saying?" Chase frowned, impatience evident in his voice.
"She's free to go. I don't need her for anything." Ryder spoke loudly.
I turned, glaring daggers at him while he smiled.
So this was how it was huh?
