Chapter 15 Breaking out of school
Ryder's POV
They couldn't even cut the girl some slack.
The shit was pissing me off badly.
It didn't help that whenever I saw her, her eyes were fucking red and small.
"A word?" I held the principal's door open, frowning slightly.
"Mr. Connell." He smiled, beckoning me to come in.
We both know he didn't like me but due to my background, he had to tolerate me.
"You're not in trouble, are you?" He asked.
"I'm here because of the current video flying around." My words were sharp.
He frowned slightly. "And what's your relationship with her?"
"She's my partner."
"Now you're rubbing your teenage relationship in my face? Do you know you could get punished for even dating at such -"
"In English for poetry assessment test. It carries 20 fucking marks." Narrowing my eyes at him, I explained further.
He parted his lips, nodding slowly as he realized how much of a fool he was for jumping into conclusion.
"I'm not here to explain much or have a chit chat with you. That video should be taken down. Its inappropriate."
He scoffed. "You're teaching me my job?"
"It's an anonymous. Anonymous defamation or derogatory video or pictures, whatever have a sole aim against the victim or the subject of such defamatory video or picture or message." Leaning back into the chair, I folded my arms. "It's simple - to tarnish the image of that person."
"Good point but it doesn't wipe away the fact that Uriel said whatever was said. That girl is becoming an issue this session." He frowned.
True.
"I doubt a person would constantly put his or herself in the spotlight, especially using the wrong things."
He nodded, smiling smugly at me. "Before, you used to be her bully, now you're defending her?"
"Like I said, she's my partner and this video would definitely affect her commitment to our work and I don't want that." Standing up, I placed my hand on the table.
"I'd see what I can do about it." He cleared his throat, his face serious.
"Today, Principal. You don't want it exceeding today."
Glaring at me, he placed a call. "See to it that Uriel's matter is resolved. Now." Slowly he brought the phone down. "I wouldn't be able to help you if something else comes up."
"You will." I smiled brightly, turning away. The door flew open revealing Emma. She froze on spot looking between the Principal and I.
"Emma. Are you here to talk about your sister too?" The principal said almost immediately.
"Y..yes."
Scoffing, I made my way out of the office, giving them a sly smile.
Of course.
"Ryder!" Someone called me, making me halt.
I turned slowly to meet the fucking nerd. If I had known it was him, I would've continued working.
"Don't you have a book to read?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
He gripped my shirt, like a fucking child. "Whatever you're doing to Uriel, stop it."
Whatever you're doing to Uriel, stop it
Mother fucker.
"Even your grip is as weak as the pages you flip everyday." I swatted his hands away from me like it was a fly perching on my shirt. "Lift weights. You're a man."
"I've warned you, Ryder. Stop now or you wouldn't like what I'll do to you."
"Ouuu ... I'm scared. Lance is going to read me a book if I don't stop." I faked a shiver, glaring at him afterwards. "But I'd fucking put you in prison for pointing fingers at me falsely. That's the difference us."
I shoved past him, making sure to pass my message with my shoulder.
He groaned, stumbling back.
"At least where's Uriel?" He asked, making me halt.
Smirking, I turned my face to the side. "What makes you think I'll tell you even if I knew?"
"She's - I need to know if she's okay. She wouldn't pick our calls or reply our texts." He sighed weakly
There was something about Lance with Uriel.
He over cared.
Over did himself.
He was just too extra for her and it irked me so much.
"Then find her. Don't friends know everything about each other?" I mocked, walking away.
He knew better not to follow me but just to be sure, I turned backwards before climbing up to the rooftop.
This was the only place I knew she'd be.
A small sigh left my lips when I caught her sitting just where I expected she'd be, staring into empty space.
"Thought I told you this space was restricted?" Teasing, I said.
She glanced at me, rolling her eyes.
"It's restricted, yes but does it have your name on the door or anywhere? Not at all." Her mouth was still firm, for someone who I was sure was crying all day.
Just like this morning at the library. I knew so well she was crying about something and damn, I hadn't clenched my fist so hard under the table like I did this morning.
"Your friends are worried about you?"
Her eyes snapped open, piercing into mine. "Please tell me you didn't tell them where I am?"
I smirked, raising my eyebrow at her.
"That's new."
"I... I just need an alone time." She explained, sighing weakly. "I don't want to explain myself."
"So I should go?" I walked further, standing in front of her with my hands tucked into my pocket.
She slowly raised her eyes up to meet mine again, her eyes were soft.
"No." Then she averted her eyes elsewhere, her cheek turning red. "Isn't here like your space?"
"You just love my company, don't you?" I held her face in place with one hand, forcing her to look at me.
Her throat bobbed up and down, her eyes shaking, unable to hold eye contact all of a sudden.
She was cute sometimes.
Like a chipmunk.
"You're easier. You don't like me and don't care about me." She placed her hand on mine, pausing for a while, her eyes meeting mine.
My thumb grazed her cheek softly. "I'm glad that's imprinted in..." I dragged my hand down until it stopped on her chest. "... here."
Her chest heaved up and down, her fingers twitching around mine. "Yeah." Her voice was breathless.
I placed my hand on each side of her thigh, pushing my face beside her neck. The tip of nose touched her earlobe, making her breath hitch.
Her warm hand rested on mine, squeezing lightly.
"Want to get out of here with me?" I whispered, the tip of my lips grazing her neck.
She panted, bobbing her head up and down.
