Chapter 141 My new student

Chapter 141 My new student
Uriel's POV

"Can we talk?"

My back straightened, my ear tingling. Swiftly, I turned to face the owner of the voice.

"No, you can't," Shelly spoke up, in my place, glaring daggers at Mirabel.

Mirabel raised her eyebrow at me, as if to say she was waiting for my permission.

"You heard my friend," my face squeezed.

She scoffed, taking a seat anyway

"I was a fool for asking. I want to talk to you, Uriel or whatever it is your name is," Mirabel scrunched her face in disgust, looking me up and down.

"And I'm not fucking interested, Tinkerbell," Shelly smiled at me from where she sat.

"Tinkerbell? Really?" Mirabel scoffed, again.

"You're polluting the air, girl. Just walk away," Shelly sassed, holding her nostrils close

"I'm only hear because I care about Ryder," Mirabel shot back.

Shelly and I shared a look. I used to eyes to beg her to let us hear her out. Shelly debated but finally agreed.

"What about Ryder?" I asked, folding my arms.

"You need to stop whatever you're doing?" She spat, giving me a pointed look.

"You realize you're talking to his girlfriend right?" Shelly took over, not sparing her a chance to even breathe.

"Can you fucking keep quiet and let me talk?" Mirabel snapped at Shelly, pouring diesel to her flaming rage.

"Fuck you,"

"Anyway, as I was saying, Uriel, you need to stop whatever you're doing to Ryder. He's been losing focus lately due to your insecurities and it's messing with our game," Mirabel frowned.

"Excuse me?" My eyes raked her body up and down. "How dare you call me insecure?"

"If it isn't insecurity then what should I call it? I know you're jealous of seeing me with Ryder," she smirked, evilly.

"I'm not jealous of you or anything. I came to understand that you are just an attention seeking bitch, wanting to feel among. Throwing yourself at my boyfriend wouldn't do you any good. You're not his type," I shook my head, casting her a pitiful look.

Her nose flared with anger.

"You're only saying this because you've not seen us together. Do you know what people say? They say we're the best fit for each other,"

"Unfortunately, they can only say and you can only dream," I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

Mirabel stood up forcefully, her eyes blazing with anger. "If you care about his career, you'd keep your insecurities aside and encourage him to be better for himself."

"Oh please!" I threw my hands up in the air, annoyed. "If you care so much about him, why not try to talk him back on track then? Oh, you need me to do your job for you? Isn't this why you're being paid?"

"A word is enough for the wise. I'm only giving you this opportunity because I have a good heart. If by next week, he's still not focused, I'd be forced to use my plan B." She threatened.

"Go ahead then," I shrugged nonchalantly. My heart was burning inside of my chest, the opposite of how calm my face was.

"Bitch." she muttered under her breath, walking away. Her face was all red.

"Told you we didn't need to hear her out. I knew she was going to say something stupid," Shelly glared at Mirabel's retreating figure.

"Insecure? Funny. All of a sudden, I'm insecure for urging my boyfriend to keep boundaries?" A pain laugh erupted my lips. "Un-fucking-beliveable."

"Fuck, I should've recorded her," Shelly cussed under her breath.

"I need air." Pulling myself up, I picked my back from the cafeteria table, storming out of the cafeteria.

The minute I stepped out, my eyes connected with that of Ryder. His smile suddenly faded. He excused himself, running after me. I turned towards another direction swiftly, attempting to get away from him when he caught up with me.

"Uriel, hey, what's wrong baby?" Ryder held my arms, holding me still.

I wriggled, trying to break out of his grip but he wouldn't let go.

"Baby -"

"Stop!" I snapped, shutting my eyes. Then I opened my eyes, my gaze fixated on him.

"What's the matter? Talk to me,"

"Mirabel."

"Huh? Did she talk to you? Oh yeah, she said she was going to help me explain things to you," Ryder said calmly.

"Well, she did a lot of explaining," I scoffed, shoving his hand off me.

"It doesn't look so,"

"She told me to stop making you lose focus. She accused me of being jealous of her bonding with you, hence why I'm giving you attitude which in turn is making you lose focus," my tone was sharp.

Ryder shook his head slowly, his forehead creased.

"You don't believe me yeah? Because she's a very very sweet girl, isn't it?" A dark chuckle left my lips.

"I just - I can't believe she said that to you," Ryder's hand balled into a fist.

"Whatever. So this is me telling you to please focus in your game. Stop worrying about things you can't control. I don't want to be called insecure any longer," I tried to move but Ryder blocked my path, placing his hands on each side of my shoulder.

"Baby, I - I'm really confused right now."

"Ryder, please just let me go,"

"You mean Mirabel called you insecure? Why? How? From where?" Ryder sounded utterly confused too.

"I'd answer this question if I gave two shit but right now, I don't so let me be, please!" For the last time, I shoved his hand off me again.

"Uriel, I think I'm not getting something right. Can we talk about all these? I don't like that you're mad at me. I feel like I'm doing something that's not sitting right with you." Ryder begged, following me.

"I am only your girlfriend, not your wife. Just go do what you have to do for a better tomorrow," I sighed weakly.

"Ryder! Come here," Coach yelled from down the hall.

Ryder turned to coach, defiance in his eyes.

"If you don't go, they'd blame me. So please go answer your coach," I looked up at him.

"Can I come pick you up tonight then?"

Shaking my head, I said. "No, Ryder."

"Why?"

"Ryder Connell!" Coach roared.

"Give me a fucking minute!" Ryder snapped, frustration evident in his voice.

"You should go."

"I need to know why."

"Uhhh... Hello? Uriel?" Someone appeared beside me, his body blocking the light from my side vision.

"Who the fuck are you? Can't you see I'm talking to -"

My eyes raked up and down the boys body. His face suddenly clicked in my head. He looked half Asian, half American. Just like Shelly had described him. "You must be Brandon."

His smile grew wider, "yup!"

"Let's go," Coach pulled Ryder with him.

Brandon and I stared at the both of them go. Ryder's eyes bore into Brandon head. If his eyes were lasers, Brandon's skull could've been fried by now.

"That should be your boyfriend?" Brandon asked, turning to face me.

Sighing, I shrugged.

Brandon nodded slowly, stretching out his hand. "Brandon Miller, your new student,"

A soft chuckle left my lips. "Aye. My new student?"

"I'll be sucking from your breast of knowledge,"

My eyebrows creased.

"Sorry, that must've sounded very weird." Brandon chuckled nervously.

I took his hand, smiling. "Uriel Kennedy, your teacher."

He held my hand delicately, brushing his thumb slightly at the back of my palm.

"Your picture doesn't do much justice to your beauty." Brandon spoke softly, chills running down my spine.

Hmm, I was liking him already.
