Chapter 139 Unwanted visitor

Chapter 139 Unwanted visitor
Uriel's POV

"Come on, eat something," Shelly pushed her food to me, concern laced in her voice.

Shaking my head, I muttered. "I'm not hungry."

I stared at the food blankly, barely shutting my eyelids.

Shelly sighed heavily, placing her utensils in the tray. "Then I'll starve too,"

"Come on, don't do yourself like this." I looked up at her, blinking finally.

"You're the one doing us like this. If you're not eating, I'm not eating,"

Sighing, I picked up a spoon, mouthing a spoonful of whatever was in her plate.

Shelly smiled brightly, picking up the fork. "See? It wasn't so hard,"

"I just don't get why he'll tell her to end the call on me," I said out of the blue. "Why was he with her by 9:30 PM."

"All I know is that Tinkerbell is doing whatever she's doing intentionally and it's not even funny," Shelly frowned. "She just fucking came days ago!"

"It's not her. Isn't Ryder supposed to keep her at arms length or something? Respect boundaries?"

"True. But she's practically his assistant so keeping her at arms length wouldn't be possible." Shelly shook her head at me.

Sighing, I exhaled heavily. "I'm scared, Shelly."

"Don't worry. I know Ryder loves you," Shelly said softly.

The bell rang for class. We stood up, leaving a big amount of leftover on our plate as we headed back to class.

My face fell when my eyes met Ryder standing beside the door of my class. When his eyes met mine, they softened.

"Go ahead, Shelly," I muttered under my breath, turning away.

"Uriel. Uriel, wait,"

I increased my pace, my feet padding fast on the ground.

"Babe please,"

Ryder caught onto my arms, holding me still. I clenched my jaw, my teeth grinding hard against each other.

"Can we talk?" Ryder asked, looking down at me. "Please?"

I shoved his hands off me, walking towards his car. He opened the door, hurriedly getting in as well. My hands folded in front of my chest, my face straight.

"I swear nothing happened between us," Ryder spoke immediately, placing his eyes on my thigh.

"Explanation is for the guilty. Remember your words from high school?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"I'm just clearing whatever misconception you have in your head, baby." He rubbed his hand up and down my thigh. "We finished playing by 9:10 PM. She couldn't get an Uber so I offered to drop her at her house,"

"So did she offer you some treat for helping her? Maybe herself?" I spat.

"Uriel!" Ryder scolded, his tone hard.

"What do you want me to think, Ryder? You told her to end the call on me. I heard it!"

His eyes widened. "Shit."

"Yeah," I eyed him up and down. "Shit."

"I... I was scared you'd freak out if you found out. I didn't have the balls to talk to you."

"So you were going to hide it from me then? Wow," I scoffed, finding the car lock.

"Baby, please!" Ryder begged, holding my hand. "I'm sorry it seemed really suspicious but Mirabel and I have a very casual relationship,"

Casual.

"I should've told you,"

"I'm not your owner. Why should you?" I spat scornfully, pain evident in my tone.

"What are you saying, babe? You're my owner. Come on, don't be mad at me. I talk so much about you to her. She knows about you, Uriel," he said softly.

"It doesn't change a thing. You're dealing with a woman," I argued, frowning at him.

He shut his eyes, sighing heavily. Then he opened his eyes, staring into mine. "She's just helping me get better. After two months, she'd be gone. I can even plead with Coach to send her back after a month... But I have to really improve by then. That's why I'm putting in all the work. She reverts back to my agency on my daily progress or failure. So I need to impress her,"

I bit my lips, looking at him.

"I know it all doesn't make sense but just trust me on this. Bear with me for some time and I'm back to giving you all of my attention,"

I shook my head, "sorry, I'm probably just overreacting."

"It's fine baby. I'd react same way too if something doesn't sit right with me." Ryder held my face in his hand. "Smile for me? Please?"

I rolled my eyes, biting my tongue, holding back the smile.

He placed a kiss on my chaste kiss on my lips. "Smile."

He kept peppering my lips with kisses until the smile broke out. "Now that's my girl," Ryder cheered.

"We should get back to class," I told him.

"Orrrr... I could treat you to your favourite ice cream shop. I heard sweet things lightens a person's mood, hmm?" Ryder smirked at me.

"I hope you're not trying to bribe me, Mr. Famous and Multi-talented,"

"Babe!"

We both bursted into laughter at the little inner joke we had created.

And that was how we missed out on the rest of our classes. Ryder didn't just take me to only the ice cream shop, he took me to an arcade where we went to place games. He even won me a stuffed bunny.

"I'll make her pookie,"

"Mason and Kathie will have your head," Ryder chuckled.

"Oh shit," I chuckled light. "How about Cookie?"

I didn't hear a response from Ryder, so I turned to him. He was tapping away on his phone, all his attention on it.

"Sorry. What were you saying?" Ryder turned to me, smiling brightly.

"Nevermind. Can we go home now?" I asked, swallowing hard.

"The boys - sorry, babe. I'm sorry." He pouted.

"I'm not mad."

"Then repeat what you said,"

"I don't want to, Ry," I snapped, eyeing him seriously.

He opened his mouth to say something but clamped it shut.

Good.

He drove for a while, taking a different turn that wasn't going to lead us to the house or my dorm.

"This is not the right direction, Ryder," I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Yeah..."

"Where are we going to?" My tone filled with curiosity.

"We're going to see this new romantic movie that'll be streaming tonight. I just remembered Mi- uhh... I saw it online,"

My eyebrow perched up in suspicion.

"Are you sure you saw it online?"

"Y-yeah," he stuttered, avoiding eye contact with me.

"Hmm."

We arrived on time, buying our tickets when someone poked Ryder from the back. Ryder turned, blocking my view with his back.

"What are you doing here? I thought you said you weren't a fan of these type of movies when I told you yesterday," the familiar feminine voice said.

"Uh... My girlfriend is - is a fan of it," Ryder stuttered, moving aside.

My blood ran cold as I glared at Mirabel.

She was the 'Online' huh?

"Can I join you two then? I got stood out and I feel so down," Mirabel smiled - a sly one, looking between Ryder and I.

"No"

"Sure."
