Chapter 25 25

Chapter 25 25
Elliot’s POV
I woke up with the worst headache of my life. My head was pounding hard like someone was hitting it from the inside with a hammer.
My eyes burned, and my throat was dry. I groaned and rubbed my forehead slowly, trying to think. Everything felt sore, my back ached, my arms were heavy, and even my jaw felt tired. I sat up a little and blinked at the soft light in the room. It took me a second to realize I wasn’t in my own house.
Where was I? I turned my head and looked around. I was in Hayes Hotel but I had no idea how I got here. I turned around and gasped in shock. Nessa was lying right beside me in full clothes.
She was still in her green dress, heel and her makeup untouched. Her red lipstick  still looked perfect.
She was sleeping so still, her hands crossed over her stomach. Her long lashes rested gently on her cheeks. Her hair was curled and fell neatly over the pillow and her chest rose and fell softly.
She looked perfect and so damn beautiful. My heart skipped and I stared at her for a long moment.
What happened last night? I remembered drinking Asher the cake and Nessa standing beside him but everything after that was a blur.
Did I do something stupid? Did we do something stupid?
Her dress wasn’t wrinkled. Her shoes were still on and there was no sign of anything.  I looked down at myself, my shirt was  unbuttoned halfway, my belt was still on and nothing was out of place.
I slowly sat up and swung my feet off the bed and didn’t want to wake her.
She had probably brought me here. God, that must have been embarrassing. I could barely walk, I was sure.
I turned and gently lifted her left foot. Her heel was tight so I slid it off carefully, then did the same with the right.
She didn’t move and I  placed her shoes neatly near the nightstand. I needed a shower.
The warm water hit my back and shoulders, and I sighed. When I came out, I changed into grey joggers and a plain white comfortable shirt.
I ordered room service. I got toast, eggs, fruit, and two cups of black coffee.
When the food came, I placed the tray on the table and looked back at the bed.
She was still sleeping, but I could tell she was about to wake up. She groaned and turned her head slowly.
“Mmghh…” Her eyes opened. Her face twisted a little in confusion then she sat up fast. “Morning.” I said quietly
“Wait… what?” she mumbled. Her eyes shot to mine as I stood at the table, holding a fork.
She looked around quickly, then back at me.
“You’re awake,” I said calmly. She blinked fast the. her face changed.
“Why are you in my room?” I asked, confused.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Your room? Elliot, are you serious?”
I stared at her blankly. She ran her hand through her hair and shook her head. “Oh wow you really don’t remember.”
I stayed quiet, bowing not to admit I remember embarrassing myself. She stood up from the bed. Her dress was creased now and her hair messy but still looked like she stepped out of a movie.
“I carried your drunk self out of that damn party,” she said sharply. “I put you in the car, got you here, removed your shoes, and guess what? You pulled me down and used me as a teddy bear!”
My eyes widened slightly. “I did what?”
“You passed out and wouldn’t let me leave,” she snapped. “Your arms were wrapped around me the whole night! I couldn’t move!”
I tried to picture it. I honestly couldn’t remember anything about that.
She picked up her shoes. “I swear, I am never helping you again.”
“Nessa..” I called walking to her.  “And if I don’t get a raise after this, I’m quitting,” she said, walking toward the door. “I don’t care.”
She reached for the handle and I moved fast stopping her. I  stepped behind her and grabbed her arm, gently and she froze.
“Nessa,” I said quietly. “Wait.”
“What?” she snapped without turning.
“Calm down.” I said and  turned her around and pressed her lightly against the wall.
Her back touched it gently and my body pressed against hers. Her eyes locked with mine and her breath quickened.
“Don’t get mad at me,” I whispered. “I didn’t know and I don’t remember anything
Her breath was fast and she looked at me like she couldn’t believe this was happening. Her chest rose and fell quickly, and her lips were slightly parted.
Her eyes burned into mine. “Let me go,” she said, her voice low but strong.
I didn’t move. I shook my head slowly. “No.”
She frowned. “Elliot…let me go now.”
“Did we do it?” I asked fully well we didn’t but I wanted to see her reaction.
Her eyes widened. “Do what?”
“This” I said, bending my head down. My lips brushed hers and then I kissed her.
It wasn’t soft or gentle. It was wild and messy. My hands pressed against the wall beside her head as I leaned in more, tasting her breath, feeling the heat between us. Her lips were warm, still covered in that red lipstick. I kissed her like I’d wanted to for a long time but just when I thought she’d melt into me she slapped me really hard.
The sound echoed through the room and my  head turned slightly from the force. My cheek burned and I blinked in shock.
Her chest was still rising and falling, but now her face was full of anger. Her eyes were wide with disbelief and fury.
“How dare you!” she shouted.
“Nessa…” “Don’t ever do that again!”
She pushed past me roughly and grabbed her purse. “Don’t touch me; don’t look at me. Don’t even speak to me ever,” she snapped.
I tried to take a step toward her, but she held up her hand.
“Don’t,” she said again, her voice trembling. Then she turned and ran out the door.
The door shut with a soft click. I stood there, alone, my cheek still stinging.
Maybe I deserved that but I didn’t regret the kiss one bit.
