QUEEN CHRISELDA
"Move," I ordered my guard while taking my seat in the back of my car.
He pulled out of from the premises, driving out into the pack.
"Where exactly are we going, my Queen?" Beta Dean asked right next to me. He looked confused because I didn't tell him where we were heading to. I only ordered him to come along and he obeyed.
"When we get there you'll know," that was my only response.
He said nothing after that. He just sat there quietly.
Unknown to him, I'm thinking about that Omega girl. She has taken away my peace from this mansion, and I desperately want to get something to use against her!
My plan was ruined at the arena. I invited that man and promised to give him something special, if he could get Evolet under my control.
But the plan failed because of that stupid girl!
That power given to that stranger by my sorceress, became a waste!
It was at that period I needed Thelma's help in taking out Evolet, but she has decided to devote her time in finding the spirit wolf for me.
Well, I didn't argue with that. Getting that power is more important than this worthless Omega, but still… still I can't let go of the fact that Evolet and her friend are up to something!
She's using the people's request and my desperation to back herself up, but after what my dear Fiona has shown me, I can say that Evolet is here for a different motive.
And if I want to get the truth out of her, then I have to look for that lover of hers.
My guards have been having difficulty in looking for those men, so, there's only one way out of this.
"Wait, isn't this…" Beta Dean uttered, pointing at the house we were driving up to.
Yes, this is Evolet's home.
I am here to say hello to her sweet dear mother.
"Here is enough," I said to the guard, gesturing him to pack close to the house.
The moment the vehicle came to a stop, Evolet's mother came out of the house and stared at the car in shock.
An unexpected visit from the Queen. This family must feel so proud to have both Alpha and Queen crawling to them like fools. But I'm here on a different mission.
Beta Dean opened the car for me and I got out, smiling right at a stunned mother of that worthless brat.
It seems mother dearest isn't pleased with my presence.
"Queen Chriselda?"
"Good morning," I greeted, walking up to her majestically with the Beta by my side.
"What seems to be the problem?" she asked without even greeting me back. Such a disrespectful woman. No wonder her daughter has wings to talk back to me.
I smiled and asked, "Can I come in please?"
"Um…" she glanced into her home then back at me. Then she shrugged out, saying, "Alright then. Come in."
"Thank you," I appreciated, walking into the house.
The interior of the place gave the look of a poor man's den. I hovered my gaze around in disgust, drawing further into the sitting room.
"Have a seat," Evolet's mother offered, pointing at her couch.
Disturbed by this ugly chair, I asked, "Don't you have something else I can sit on?" I squeezed my face, expressing my discomfort.
When I asked, she smiled at me, looking around her home.
"Aren't you the one who wanted to sit inside?" She questioned rudely, pointing at the dirty couch!
"My Queen, you are in the house of a poor woman. I'm not rich. You can't expect a golden chair to magically appear in my living room. That'll be so abnormal," she chuckled.
I squinted my eyes at her.
What an attitude!
"If you're not fine with this, maybe we can go and sit outside. There are two wooden chairs at the corner. I can just…"
"No need for that," I shunned with my palm, rolling my eyes at this.
I had no choice but to take this nonsense and sit on the dirty couch.
I am going to throw this dress once I'm done here.
"What brings you to my home? I hope there's no problem with my girls?" she asked.
I hummed and gave my response, trying not to touch this chair with my beautiful skin, "Not at all. They are doing wonderfully well. Too well."
"That's lovely to hear," she said with delight.
I felt like diving right into the main problem but I don't want her to suspect at once. So, I went on to ask about her family to build a comfortable foundation with her.
She was responding fine, even though she was avoiding some questions.
I asked about her husband and her response was, "Why all these questions?" She lifted a brow suspiciously, waiting for my reply.
"You have been going on and on about my home and about Evolet's gift... Did something happen at the mansion?"
"Not at all," I chortled, unable to take this heat anymore.
"No, actually I need an answer to something, and I would be happy if you could comply with me."
"Okay, and… what is that?" She glanced at Dean and I.
Still maintaining my sweet side, I asked, "Can I get the address of your daughter's boyfriend, please?"
"Evolet's boyfriend?" Her eyes came large in surprise.
It's the reaction I expected after all. I just need to put it in a way she won't feel I'm up to something.
"Oh, I have no problem with them if you're thinking that. I… well I need to be honest with you," I said, faking concern.
"Evolet hasn't be looking well after returning to the hunt. It's like something is missing in her life. I had a talk with a few damsels and they said she has someone she's in a relationship with and… understanding the situation, I felt I should surprise her by bringing in this her lover. But no one knows where he lives. And if I ask her friend Derby, she might tell Eve about my plan."
"And you came to me to ask for his whereabouts?" She questioned, narrowing her brows at me.
"Yes, exactly. Since you're her mother, surely you'll know where he stays," I pointed out.
Eve's mother hummed at this. She gave me a beam and said, "So much love for my girl. You want to cheer her up."
"Of course, I care about all my girls." I smiled.
"But why look for her lover? Why can't you send her back home if she's uncomfortable? I see no reason why Wolf Fall's Queen would leave the comfort of her home just to bring one of the damsel's boyfriend into her mansion. Your game is all about finding your son a Luna. Why didn't you bring my daughter home if you feel she has no interest in your game?"
Her question… This woman makes me look like a goof!
Dean had to step in by pointing out why. "She never said Evolet has no interest in the game. My Luna only wants to cheer her up, that's all."
"Then give her the freedom to come back home. You are the one who came here to beg her back into the hunt. She agreed because you pleaded. And now that you said she's feeling down and you feel it's because she's not looking well… Let her go! Maybe she's even missing her mother, that's why." She slammed one more time.
Gosh! I felt like a dummy in front of this poor rat. She's going to make things hard for me.
Should I threaten her?
No, I need to behave myself. I can't afford to be seen as a tyrant. I'll just play it cool with her and ask for…
"Even the address you're asking for, I don't have it. I don't know where her boyfriend lives." Evolet's mother shrugged, ruining everything!
"You're joking, right?" I asked.
She stood her ground, claiming not to have a single detail about those men!
"They only come when they feel like it. I don't know where they stay."
So my coming here is a waste of time?!
ARGH!
Annoyed, I got to my feet and stormed out of the house without any delay. Dean was busy apologizing to Eve's mother from behind.
She must have found my sudden reaction astonishing.
I got into the car in anger, waiting for the driver to move out at once.
When he started the engine, I took one more look at Evolet's mother and met her staring at me.
She's lying. I bet she knows where those Vermins are.
When my car drove off, I said to Dean, "I want you to keep an eye on her from now on. She's hiding the truth. She wants to push us off track."
I showed him the video Fiona had shared, leaving the Beta stunned.
He hasn't seen them before because he was at the hospital during that period when my son publicly shamed himself over that brat.
But he promised to fish them out.
"You don't have to worry anymore. I will keep an eye on her."
"Thank you, Dean," I appreciated.
Returning to the mansion, I was told that Thelma wasn't around. She didn't tell anyone were she was going to but left the place.
Believing she went on an important mission, I decided to do something else to clear my mind.
That's when I learnt the girls were at the dining room, eating.
"I haven't joined them since they returned. Let me go and see them," I said, heading over.
On getting closer to the room, "Who do you like more between Queen Chriselda and Luna Violet?" I heard one of the damsels throwing that question loudly!
In my own home?!
Curious, I took a peep and saw how the girls responded to this question asked by another maiden.
To my horror, they all chorus Violet's name, choosing her over me?!
"What nonsense!" I uttered in shock.
I thought Evolet was the one who started this nonsense, but the Omega just sat aside with her friend, eating their meal and showing no interest in the discussion.
"I want Luna Violet. She's the first Luna and owner of this pack."
"She's also the owner of this mansion, remember? Luna Chriselda is just staying here since she's the Queen."
"Shh! Don't let the servants hear you. Do you want the Queen to unleash her wrath on you like she did with Evolet?"
They all laughed, making a mockery of me!
Are these the same girls who want to compete for my son's heart?
These animals are speaking ill about their Queen!
"I know I haven't seen the late Luna in person, but I've heard so many lovely things about her. I know if she was still alive, she won't act unjust with any of us."
"Not just that. By now we won't be here struggling and fighting to win a man's heart. I bet we would have found our mate's already."
"Maybe a Werecat? What about a Vampire lover?"
They all laughed, enjoying themselves.
"But overall…" Another damsel said, gaining everyone's attention, "She won't allow her people to live in fear every blessed day, wondering when we'll be attacked by the enemies. I envy those who experienced her reign. How I wish the Goddess didn't allow her to die."
"Yeah."
"I agree with you."
"Queen Chriselda isn't portraying the Late Luna's teaching. She doesn't even have any love for animals. Look at Evolet and Derby. They are the only ones carrying out the late Queen's habit."
The girls pointed, bringing those idiots into the matter.
Evolet acted like she didn't want to be a part of the discussion, but when the girls called her Violet's double, she smiled!
That annoyed me. I was mad!
"How did you tame your wolf?"
"Can you teach us? I really want to have a pet animal to keep me company."
"I once saw a rat and it ran away from me. Show me a few tricks please." They all begged.
I drew my steps back in rage as those girls surrounded Evolet, giving her their attentions!
One even dared to call her Luna Violet!
"That's your name from now on." They all cackled!
After everything I've done, they prefer that dead woman over me?!
Is my effort not worth it?!
"It's that Evolet girl! She's the reason behind this nonsense. They are all thinking of Violet and disrespecting their true Queen. I am better than that her!"
I began breathing heavily.
I couldn't stand this anymore.
Troubled, I ran back to my room to cool my temper.
This is my pack. I am a better Queen, not Violet!
I won't allow anyone to outshine me, not even Evolet.
