Chapter 165 up
For generations, the werewolf world had been divided.
Packs aligned themselves with the powerful Alliance or chose independence under leaders like Kael. Trade agreements, territorial disputes, and political rivalries shaped every major decision.
The two factions had never fully trusted each other.
Sometimes they cooperated.
Sometimes they competed.
But they had always stood apart.
Until now.
The first joint war council in modern history took place in the neutral fortress of Stormridge.
The same place where only weeks earlier the armies of the Alliance and the independent packs had nearly torn each other apart.
Now the massive stone hall was filled with leaders from both sides.
Alliance Alphas sat along one half of the chamber.
Independent pack leaders filled the other.
The tension in the room was unmistakable.
Old rivalries did not disappear overnight.
But something had changed.
At the center of the chamber stood two figures.
Lyra.
Kael.
For the first time, they were standing side by side in front of both factions.
A large war map was projected across the central table.
Red markings covered several regions.
Known locations where Eclipse Order activity had been detected.
Hidden outposts.
Supply routes.
Communication hubs.
Selka stepped forward and addressed the room.
“The evidence gathered over the past weeks confirms the same conclusion.”
She pointed to the map.
“The Eclipse Order has spent years preparing this operation.”
Another projection appeared beside the map.
Documents.
Symbols.
Recovered recordings.
“They infiltrated pack territories.”
“Manipulated political conflicts.”
“And orchestrated the attacks that nearly pushed our world into war.”
Murmurs spread through the chamber.
Many of the Alphas were still struggling to accept the scale of what they were hearing.
Torren leaned against the wall near Kael, arms folded.
“Hard to believe we almost fell for it,” he muttered.
Kael glanced at him.
“We almost didn’t.”
Across the room, Alpha Virek studied the map with narrowed eyes.
He still looked uncomfortable sitting in the same chamber as the independent leaders.
But even he could not ignore the evidence.
Finally he spoke.
“If the Eclipse Order truly intends to collapse the pack system…”
His gaze moved toward Lyra and Kael.
“…then we cannot fight them separately.”
The statement caused several Alliance Alphas to shift uneasily.
Cooperation with the independents was not something they were used to.
One independent Alpha spoke next.
“You expect us to follow Alliance command?”
His tone carried open suspicion.
Kael answered calmly.
“No.”
The Alpha frowned.
“Then who leads this war?”
Lyra stepped forward.
“We do.”
She gestured between herself and Kael.
“Together.”
The room fell silent.
The idea would have been unthinkable just months earlier.
One Alpha from the independent side spoke bluntly.
“You two are rivals.”
Torren chuckled.
“Used to be.”
Lyra ignored him.
“Our factions have different systems.”
“Different traditions.”
“But the Eclipse Order wants to destroy both.”
Her voice grew stronger.
“If they succeed, there will be no Alliance.”
“No independent packs.”
“Only chaos.”
The weight of her words settled over the room.
Kael stepped forward beside her.
“The enemy believes we are too divided to stop them.”
He looked across both sides of the chamber.
“Let’s prove them wrong.”
The silence lasted several long seconds.
Then something unexpected happened.
An older Alpha from one of the neutral mountain packs slowly stood.
His fur was silver with age, his posture steady despite the years.
“I have lived long enough to see three territorial wars,” he said quietly.
“Every one of them started because leaders refused to listen to each other.”
He looked at Lyra.
Then at Kael.
“But today…”
His voice softened slightly.
“…I see something different.”
The old Alpha turned toward the room.
“If these two leaders can stand together…”
“…then perhaps the rest of us can as well.”
He sat back down.
The tension in the chamber shifted slightly.
Not gone.
But changing.
Another Alpha from the independent side crossed his arms thoughtfully.
“If we fight together…”
“…how do we organize the forces?”
Selka stepped forward again.
“The Alliance armies will secure the western territories.”
She pointed to the map.
“The independent packs control most of the northern forests and mountain passes.”
Torren stepped beside her.
“And we’re better at fighting in those environments anyway.”
Some of the independent Alphas nodded in agreement.
Selka continued.
“Our intelligence teams will share information across both factions.”
Rhea added from the far side of the table,
“We have already identified several Eclipse Order supply routes.”
She highlighted a series of red lines on the map.
“If we cut these connections…”
“…their hidden bases will become vulnerable.”
Kael nodded.
“That’s where the joint forces come in.”
Alpha Virek studied the plan carefully.
“You’re proposing coordinated strikes.”
“Yes,” Lyra said.
“Multiple operations across different regions.”
Another Alpha frowned.
“That requires trust.”
Torren smirked.
“Yeah.”
“It does.”
The room grew quiet again.
Because trust had always been the one thing the two factions lacked.
Finally Virek exhaled slowly.
Then he said something few people expected to hear from him.
“Very well.”
Several Alliance Alphas turned toward him in surprise.
Virek continued.
“The Alliance will cooperate.”
One independent Alpha raised an eyebrow.
“That easily?”
Virek glared at him.
“Don’t mistake cooperation for friendship.”
Torren laughed.
“Fair enough.”
Kael glanced at Lyra.
For the first time since the crisis began, a small sense of relief appeared in his expression.
The world was finally moving in the right direction.
Later that evening, the fortress courtyard was filled with warriors from both factions.
Alliance soldiers in silver armor stood beside independent pack fighters wearing darker gear.
At first, the atmosphere was awkward.
Some wolves kept their distance.
Others exchanged cautious looks.
But as preparations continued, the tension slowly eased.
They were all warriors.
And they all understood the same thing.
A larger enemy was coming.
Near the edge of the courtyard, two young fighters stood watching the preparations.
One wore the insignia of the Alliance.
The other carried the mark of an independent pack.
The Alliance wolf crossed his arms.
“Never thought I’d fight beside you guys.”
The independent wolf shrugged.
“Never thought I’d trust Alliance soldiers either.”
They watched as commanders distributed weapons and assigned positions.
After a moment, the independent wolf said,
“Guess the world’s changing.”
The Alliance wolf nodded.
“Yeah.”
He looked toward the fortress tower.
Where Lyra and Kael were standing on the balcony above the courtyard.
“If those two can work together…”
“…maybe we can too.”
From the balcony, Lyra and Kael watched the courtyard below.
Hundreds of warriors were preparing for the coming battles.
For the first time in history, Alliance and independent forces were training together.
Kael leaned slightly against the stone railing.
“Did you expect this?”
Lyra shook her head softly.
“No.”
“Did you?”
Kael considered the question.
“Not this quickly.”
They stood in silence for a moment.
Below them, soldiers exchanged strategies and compared weapons.
Some even laughed.
The sight felt strange.
But hopeful.
Lyra finally spoke.
“The Eclipse Order wanted to divide us.”
Kael nodded.
“They almost succeeded.”
She looked toward the horizon beyond the fortress walls.
“But now the world knows the truth.”
Kael followed her gaze.
“And now the world is united.”
Far away in the hidden valley where the Eclipse Order waited, Orion studied the same map of territories.
Reports from his agents had begun arriving.
Alliance forces moving north.
Independent packs cooperating with former rivals.
Joint patrols forming across borders.
Orion’s expression darkened slightly.
“So,” he murmured.
“They finally understand.”
One of his agents spoke carefully.
“The wolves are uniting against us.”
Orion remained calm.
“It was inevitable.”
He turned back toward the map.
“Unity will not save them.”
His finger tapped the location of their main fortress.
“Because by the time they arrive…”
His eyes gleamed with cold confidence.
“…the final phase will already be underway.”
Across the world, armies were beginning to move.
For the first time in generations, the divided werewolf nations stood together.
The war that had almost destroyed them would now become something else entirely.
A battle not between rival factions—
But between the entire world…
And the enemy who had tried to break it.
