Chapter 15 SLOANE

Chapter 15 SLOANE
Chapter 15
SLOANE

Shit!

I cursed as my eyes settled on the guy sitting on the couch, fist clenched, eyes dark with annoyance and anger, unlike anything I recognized from him.

My eyes flickered as I stepped into the living room. I walked towards him, my mind recalling how strict he was when he told me to stay the hell away from his brother, the way his eyes darkened as he warned his brother to stay away from me.

Jasper used to adore Xaden, he loved Xaden so much that I hated the fact that I was born as the first child. I hated the fact that I had no older sibling to look up to.

It all started four years ago. Jasper came into my room, ranting and raging, trashing everything in sight. He was livid, tears rolling down his face. His fist clenched as he repeatedly punched my wall.

I had never seen him like that before. My mother had to run into my room to stop him before I got injured in that room. At first, I thought he found out about the kiss and was pissed I kept it from him but turns out he had a falling out with Xaden.

From that very day, the very existence of his brother had irked the hell out of him. He hated Xaden to his core. I asked him so many times but he never told me anything.

As I walked in with Xaden, I saw that rage in his eyes, the same rage he had four years ago when he came to my room.

“Jasper, wait….” I tried to call out for him but he moved past me, his fist clenched. He grabbed Xaden’s jacket collar and threw a punch right at his face.

The first one.

The second one.

“Ah!” I screamed, “Jasper, stop.” I yelled, “Let him go!” I cried out.

“I warned you! I told you to stay the hell away from her! I told you, Sloane was off limits! I told you, she was mine!” Jasper raged, his eyes shooting lasers at his brother.

My eyes widened, hands trembling. My eyes found Xaden. Jaw clenched, lips bunched, fist clenched, but he didn't do anything. He just stood there, glaring at his brother.

My chest heaved, hands clasped against my chest.

“Jasper, let him go, please, stop!” I cried out. I was trembling. I couldn't take my eyes off Xaden whose lips were busted.

“Sloane, enough!” He fired at me.

“Don’t talk to her like that.” Words finally rolled off Xaden’s lips. His eyes darkened, tracing the look on his brother’s face.

Jasper gasped. He was standing face to face with his brother but Xaden still towered over him. Jasper is an athlete but somehow, Xaden still looked more built than him.

Jasper grinned at his brother, “I will speak to her whichever way I want. She is mine, not yours. You have no right to tell me how to speak to her.”

“Sloane is not an object that can be owned.” Xaden sneered, he wasn't raising his voice at all but each word that rolled off his mouth sent shivers down my spine. Intimidating to the point that I was shivering on behalf of Jasper.

“I am warning you, Xaden, stay the hell away from my friend,” Jasper grunted. “Stay away.” he pushed his brother hard with enough force that he whole me but Xaden didn't budge, like a rock, he stood, his feet stuck to the ground. Eyes flickering, gazing at his brother with no words to say to him.

Xaden’s eyes reared to mine, dark and glaring. He just kept looking, the look in his eyes was something I had seen before, a little bit of desperation but also restraint.

I stepped forward. I held Jasper’s hands, gently, calmly, “Jasper, come on, just take a deep breath and listen.” I whispered, my voice was calm, like a whisper.

But he jerked my hands off, firm and hard. Enough to make me fall back, hard that I almost crumbled. Thankfully I was fast enough to catch myself before I hit the floor.

Jasper didn't budge. He didn't spare me a glance.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” Xaden’s voice rose by a bar. Not loud, but audible enough to make Jasper flinch.

Even if it was for a moment, there was fear emitting from Jasper as his brother gritted his teeth at him, glaring with annoyance visible in his eyes.

I pulled myself together and stepped forward again. The last thing I want is for this to escalate more than it already did.

“I told you to stay away from my friend!” Jasper barked, completely ignoring what Xaden was trying to tell me. He kept lashing at his brother.

Xaden’s lips parted, “You pushed her! She almost fell!” his voice was slowly rising.

God, no…. Please no.

“Xaden, please…” I cut him off. I turned to him, eyes flickering, wet, throat bobbing. “Can you go up to your room, i’ll handle this,” I whispered.

Jasper gasped. Utterly speechless.

“But…”

Please go. Please, Xaden, please.

I couldn't say the words but all I did was look at him intently like my life depended on it.

Xaden looked away, he grabbed his keys, the ones that slipped out of his pocket when Jasper pushed him earlier. He made his way up the stairs.

The sound of his legs moving up the stairs, heading to his room echoed in my head. It took everything from me not to look up at him, to check if he was upset… which is an understatement because I could see it in his eyes, he was livid.

As soon as I heard his door click, I turned to Jasper. “Why would you hit your brother?” I muffled, brows arched, confused.

I can never wrap my head around the reason behind his hostility towards his brother.

“I warned you didn't I?” his voice darkened as he leaned closer, forcing me to take a step back. My heart hitting my ribcage, I took a few steps back, brows arched, confusion spreading all over my face.

“Jasper, just calm down and listen for…”

“What do you want me to listen to? Huh? How do you enjoy spending time with him? How do you spend the night with him? I warned you to stay the hell away from him!” He hissed, his eyes boring into mine.

What the hell is wrong with him?

“Jasper, can you please stop this nonsense and actually listen to me?” I fired, pushing him back. My hands were trembling but I couldn't bring myself to not speak some sense to his head.

His eyes flickered in awe.

“I made friends at school. Friends who actually cared listened. They invited me to a birthday party and I attended, turns out the party was for Xaden’s friend. And that friend is the older brother of one of my friends, that was how Xaden and I ended up at the same place. All he did was offer me a ride home, a harmless ride home. If you don’t believe me, check my phone. And seriously, what the hell is going on with you? If I need a ride and your brother is there, are you simply telling me, I can’t ride in the same car with him?” I fired, and I was slowly losing my cool. The part of me that loves to cuss out and roar at anyone that think they can bully me was slowly flowing to the surface.

“I’d rather you trek under the rain, under the sun than share a car with my brother.” Jasper dropped. His voice was low yet filled with no remorse. He meant it.

What the hell happened to my friend? Jasper was never this angry at his brother. What the hell happened four years ago?

“If you see my older brother coming from the east, you turn to the west. And if he is coming from the south, you turn to the north. The next time I see you with my brother would be the last day you spend on this house and me as your friend.”
