Chapter 10 SLOANE
Chapter 10
SLOANE
We sat on the couch, Daisy, Rave, and I. We were the spectators for Isaac who is still very horrible at picking the right clothes together.
Daisy is having a meltdown, her hands resting on her forehead, eyes slammed shut, as Isaac walked out with another eyesore.
She swallowed hard, her hands holding mine tightly to the point I was scared she’d snap them off anytime soon.
“Okay, I do not understand what my dressing has to do with the group study. Does wearing clothes have anything to do with reading?” Isaac asked hopelessly confused.
Daisy turned to me, forcing a smile, “Can you please tell him what he is doing wrong?” she grumbled.
Me?
“Me?” I asked, confused, my eyes darting between Daisy and Rave, eyes flickering.
“Yes,” Rave answered and Daisy nodded.
I tilted my head to the side, still confused.
“You dress nice, very nice,” Rave answered.
Oh.
“It’s a little way too modest but it’s as if you do it on purpose but while making it modest you still put the right piece together and dress well. You understand color and clothes and I can see how you’ve been itching to tell Isaac what he was doing wrong.” Rave explained, without stuttering almost like she had been dying to tell me those words.
My lips parted to refute but I couldn’t find a single word to deny. She was right. Jasper doesn't think I am a nerd who doesn’t like to go all out with my fashion. So I hide what I truly want to wear and pick something I know he would like while making sure it doesn't kill fashion.
I am always intentional with what I wear but I never expected anyone to be attentive.
My eyes flickered, my fingers fidgeted as I just sat there, still unable to force words out of my mouth.
So I turned to Isaac who is still very much confused.
I forced a smile. I got up, walked over to the rack. I scanned through and pulled out a couple of trousers, jackets, t-shirts, shirts, belts, a hoodie, and joggers. I walked over to him and paired them together before handing them over to him.
“Do you understand how to wear them?” I asked again to be sure he remembered everything I had just said.
Honestly, I am just as confused as Isaac. What does his dressing have to do with our study group? But I might understand where Daisy is getting at.
Imagine having to share a room with a guy who dres… horribly…. My brain won’t be able to process whatever I am reading… it would be an eyesore.
“Perfect choices,” Daisy whispered to me. We sat together, waiting for Isaac to step out of the changing room.
And when he did, my jaw dropped.
There is only one guy I have acknowledge to he handsome and that man is no other than Xaden.
But I think Isaac is about to change that.
Because what in the hell is this gorgeous boy?
I gasped as I turned to Daisy who was just as stunned, “Is that the same person?” I rasped, hands slapped over my mouth.
Daisy nodded, “Clothes maketh man.” She and Rave chorused.
We ended up turning Isaac into a doll, playing dress up.
After three hours at the boutique, we paid and left the store.
“So am I in the group now?” Isaac asked as we walked over to his car.
Daisy gave him a thumbs up, “absolutely.” she giggled.
“You’re weird.” he hissed, shaking his head.
My eyes squinted as I watched those two, there is an energy between them, a vibe I can’t place my finger on.
Hmmm. It’s like… they know each other or something.
“They are childhood friends.” A voice came from behind. It was Rave. Her hands locked with mine as she hurled me into the car.
I gasped, turning to her confused. She nodded.
Wow.
“Are you coming to the event Mum is throwing tonight?” Isaac asked as he started the car.
“Yea… ah speaking of, Sloane?” Daisy called softly.
“Yea?” I answered.
“Do you have plans tonight?”
Do I have plans tonight?
No!
Jasper has hockey training, and Aunt will be at the restaurant. I’d be home alone with Xaden.
Nope!
After what happened.. Bathing with his back turned to me. Almost walking towards him with my naked body.
Sharing the same space with Xaden is dangerous.
I can’t.
“No,” I answered.
“Great. Isaac’s older brother turns thirty today. His mum is throwing a party. My mum and Isaac’s mum are close… we are more like family friends. Anyways, if you’re free, come to the party, it’s going to be fun.” Daisy explained, turning to me as she sat in the front with Isaac.
Oh, a birthday party. It's been a while.
“Oh… is that okay?” I asked, looking at Isaac through the rear mirror, after all, it’s his brother’s birthday.
Isaac nodded, “Sure, my mum would love to meet the person that change my entire look.” He smiled.
“Uhm… sure… thanks.” I smiled.
Oh wait… I don’t have a dress worthy of a birthday party.
I need to go see my mum.
“Uhm, can you drop me at the bus station,” I asked.
“Sure, do you live far away?” Isaac asked.
“No, I need to go check on my mum. I stay at West View Estate.” I replied.
“Oh, nice. My older brother’s friends stay there too.” Isaac muffled.
Okayyy.
They dropped me off at a bus station and I grabbed the next bus heading to my mum’s place.
I yanked the door open.
“Peach?” My mum’s voice, filled with confusion as she peeled herself off the chair, surrounded by two men. Fellow cops. They were probably discussing a case or something. She excused herself immediately.
“Mum.”
“Sloane!” Anny, my baby sister Rab down the stairs and jumped into my arms. She is sixteen and most siblings fight and distance themselves but every day I thank the universe for the sort of mum it blessed me with.
I have an amazing relationship with my family. Anny also knows about the kiss with Xaden.
“Peach, are you okay? Did something happen? You never told me you were coming over.” My mum sounded very worried, her eyes were filled with concern as she cupped my face.
“Are you okay, sis?” Anny asked.
“I made friends,” I answered.
“Huh?”
“Okay, so I met a couple of people at school, we went shopping and then they invited me to a birthday party,” I explained.
“And how is that an emergency?” Anny asked, confused.
“Because I have nothing to wear.”
