Chapter 57

Chapter 57

The red diamond was only a quarter of the size of the one she used to have.

“Why? Has the original one been cut up, or is this proof that the red diamond isn’t unique, with a smaller piece circulating on the black marketz die wondered.

Annabel’s pupils constricted as her thoughts spiraled, her hand holding the phone trembling ever so slightly.

Mason, always sharp, noticed immediately. “Annabel, is something wrong?” he asked.

“No. Just send me the video,” she replied, her tone calm and steady. She handed the phone back to Mason and said nothing more.

The two of them silently agreed not to bring up the red diamond again during the drive. An hour later, they arrived at Sophie’s house.

Even though Jonathan hadn’t come, Sophie was still overjoyed to see Mason. “Mason, Annabel, go wash your hands. I’ll start boiling the ravioli,” Sophie said warmly.

Annabel clung to Sophie’s arm with a hint of dependence. “Mom, what kind of ravioli did you make today? Did you make my favorite?” she asked playfully.

Mason noticed the tips of Annabel’s ears turning red. She looked so adorable when she acted spoiled.

Sophie affectionately tapped Annabel’s nose. “Of course,

made your

favorite, sweetheart.”

Annabel smiled and went to wash her hands with Mason. Not long after they returned, Sophie brought out a plate of steaming ravioli and set it on the table. Annabel quickly reached out to grab the fork.

Mason stood up as well. “Thank you, Ms. Miller.”

Annabel took a bite of ravioli. Upon seeing Sophie head back into the kitchen, her eyes flickered slightly. Annabel turned to Mason and said, “I’m going to grab some vinegar.”

Mason nodded, his attention fixed on the bowl of ravioli.

In the kitchen, Sophie was about to steam some ravioli when she suddenly felt arms wrap around her waist, startling her.

Annabel’s voice came from behind, “Mom, I missed you so much.”

Sophie froze for a moment before patting her hands around her waist. “Silly girl, go eat your ravioli before it gets cold.”

Annabel nodded, but didn’t let go. Instead, she asked casually, “Mom, do you like red diamonds?”

Annabel felt Sophie’s body tense slightly and continued, “I saw a gorgeous red diamond online recently. It would look amazing on you. Should I buy it for you?”

Sophie quickly resumed placing ravioli into the steamer, her expression calm as she chuckled, “What would I even do with that? It’s useless for me.”

Annabel pressed further. “Mom, are you saying no because we already have something like it at home?”

Sophie turned around, her tone serious. “Annabel, I told you before. If there’s anything like that, it would be with your grandfather.”

Annabel studied her mother for a long moment, sighing inwardly before breaking into a smile, “Got it, Mom.”

After finishing the ravioli, Mason headed back to the office. No matter how much Annabel tried to pry, Sophie didn’t reveal a single word about the red diamond.

Chapter 57

In the end, Annabel had no choice but to let it go foi now.

As Annabellen, she called Mason. “How much would it take to buy the red damard ?”

It’s not for sale. The red diamond is the prize for an underground boxing match. Only the champion can win it,” said Mason

Annabel replied, “Send me the address of the boxing arena and the details for entering the competition.”

“What? You’re planning to enter the match? No way.” Mason was stunned. He objected firmly. “That place is crawling with shady people, and every match is life or death. You can’t seriously think about this.”

Annabel cut him off. “I’m getting that red diamond, no matter what.” Her tone was filled with unshakable determination.

“Annabel, that’s enough,” Mason called out in frustration, but he knew her too well. Once she made up her mind, there was no changing it. After taking a deep breath, he reluctantly gave in. “Fine, I’ll go with you.”

“There’s no need. You should deal with Simon. I just saw him using your name to scam people,” Annabel said.

Mason was stunned. Simon really had the nerve to stir up trouble again. “Damn it. That bastard’s really asking for it.”

Annabel interrupted him again. “Just text me the info. I’ve got stuff to do.”

Not long after the call ended, Mason sent her the address and competition details. Annabel checked the info, changed clothes, and headed to the underground boxing arena.

After some effort, she slipped into the arena, her face hidden behind a mask.

The crowd’s roar was deafening. Spectators packed the space around the boxing ring, layer upon layer, as two men exchanged brutal blows in the ring. Each punch landed with a resounding thud, drawing another wave of cheers from the hundreds of onlookers.

“Come on. You got this.”

“Take him down. Finish him.”

Annabel stood off to the side, arms crossed, waiting quietly amidst the chaos. It only took a few minutes for the winner of the match to be decided.

As the announcer declared the victor, a heated conversation broke out beside Annabel. “Falkevik is a monster, six years as champion. Do you think tonight’s red diamond will end up in his hands, too?”

“Most likely. Did you see how he flattened everyone who stepped up?”

Annabel’s gaze shifted back to the ring.

Falkevik stood tall, his muscular chest glistening under the lights. At nearly six feet seven, he was an imposing figure. With a thick foreign accent, he sneered, “Who’s next? Come on, don’t waste my time.”

The arena fell silent. All eyes darted around, waiting for someone to step forward. But no one moved.

Just as Falkevik’s smug grin, widened, a cold, clear female voice rang out. “Me.”

Annabel deliberately lowered her voice. Ignoring the stairs, she placed her hands on the edge of the ring and vaulted up with effortless grace.

The spotlight hit her as she landed, and the crowd erupted into wild cheers, the energy in the arena reaching a fever pitch.

“Wow. That girl’s got a killer figure,” someone exclaimed.

Clad in a tight leather outfit that hugged her body, her curves were accentuated to perfection, commanding the attention of everyone in the room. It left the crowd wondering just how stunning the face beneath that mask must be.

After all, the pair of eyes she revealed were mesmerizing, strikingly beautiful and impossibly alluring, a clear sign that her looks wouldn’t disappoint.

“Hey, gorgeous. Lose the mask,” someone shouted.

The call sparked a wave of cheers, and soon the crowd erupted in chants. “Show us your face. Show us your face,” they roared, their voices blending into a chaotic chorus.

Falkevik, however, sneered at Annabel, flipping her off with a middle finger. “You? Don’t make me laugh. Go home and play house, sweetheart. This is no place for a woman.”

Annabel didn’t dignify him with a response. Instead, a cold, mocking smile tugged at the corner of her lips.

Falkevik leaned in, his tone dripping with disdain. “Everyone who steps into this ring signs a death waiver. But I’ll cut you a deal, sweetheart. Keep me entertained tonight, and I might just let you walk out of here alive.”

Annabel’s reply came swift and sharp, her flawless Caiselish cutting through the air like a blade. “I’ll say the same to you. Keep me entertained, and I might let you walk out of here alive.”

Falkevik froze for a moment, clearly not expecting her to respond in such perfect Caiselish, free of any trace of an accent. Even so, his icy blue eyes remained filled with contempt. “Fine. I’ll be waiting,” he said with a smirk.

At that moment, the referee stepped in, placing a hand between the two fighters. After confirming that both understood and agreed to the rules, he signaled the start of the match.

“Begin,” he shouted, quickly stepping back.

Falkevik lunged forward with explosive force, his massive fist cutting through the air like a wrecking ball.

The sheer size of his fist, as large as a sandbag, was terrifying enough, but the speed at which it moved so fast it seemed to leave afterimages was downright horrifying.

The crowd collectively shook their heads in pity. One punch like that, and the girl would likely be knocked out cold, unable to get back up. It wasn’t eve day one saw a woman this stunning in a place like this.

Driven by a simmering storm of violent impulses, Jonathan found himself at the outskirts of town, his arrival casting a shadow over the once raucous

arena.

Clad in a dark suit, he stepped into the boxing arena, only to find the once rowdy crowd now eerily silent. It was as if everyone was holding their brea waiting for something to happen.

His sharp gaze immediately locked onto the girl in the ring. Her long, smooth hair was tied into a high ponytail, and she stood there motionless, as if frozen in place.

Opposite her, Falkevik, the most ruthless and brutal fighter in the arena, was swinging a devastating punch straight at her face.

Just as everyone, including Jonathan, thought the punch would land, the beautiful girl moved.
