Novel Rebon 46
Chapter 46
The casting was quickly finalized, and with Carlos, an experienced director on board, the sweet romance Web Series, Reborn Cinderella’s Masked Vengeance, was set to begin filming soon.
The first scene involved the female lead time–traveling and jumping off a cliff, with the male lead attempting to save her, ultimately leading to both of them falling.
Of course, no one was actually jumping off a real cliff. While most production crews would opt for green screens, Carlos, in his pursuit of authenticity, had found a small hill and used camera tricks to create a sense of falling, which would produce the perfect cliff–jumping shot.
Half an hour before filming began, Annabel and Jonathan were already made up and reviewing the script, while Carlos was in front of the monitor, directing various departments to adjust and coordinate.
The phone rang. Carlos glanced at the caller ID, put away his irritation, and immediately became respectful as he answered, “Miss Sherman, I’m already at Aether Studios.”
“What is Mr. Turner doing?” came Celia’s cold and furious voice from the other end. “I sent you there to cause trouble, not to give Annabel opportunities
to work with Mr. Turner.”
“Miss Sherman, things are complicated. I actually wanted you to play the female lead, Carlos began to explain, but he was cut off by Celia’s impatience.
“Keep an eye on Annabel. I’m giving you another half–month. I don’t want to see Aether Studios exist anymore,” she said.
Carlos was in a difficult position. He thought to himself, ‘Mr. Turner is so protective of Annabel. How can I bring down Aether Studios? Mr. Turner won’t let
me off the hook.‘
Racking his brain, Carlo’s suddenly had a brainstorm and eagerly offered, “Miss Sherman, there’s a wire stunt today. I’ll find a way to injure Mr. Turner. Then you can take the opportunity to take care of him.”
If Jonathan got hurt, filming would be impossible, and Celia wouldn’t push Carlos to bring down Aether Studios.
Celia was silent for a moment, then decisively agreed. “Alright, but do it cleanly.”
After hanging up, Carlos saw that all departments were ready and reminded them, “Remember to double–check all the props and equipment under your responsibility.”
One by one, the departments responded, “Mr. Mayer, we’re all set here.”
Carlos nodded, gave a ten–minute break before the official start of filming, and then, under the guise of needing to use the restroom, he sneaked over to a wire rigging machine and quietly loosened one of the screws.
After he was done, he nonchalantly returned to his position and had the script supervisor notify the actors that they were about to start.
Annabel was covered in fake blood, her clothes disheveled, portraying a woman who had been brutally abused and was barely clinging to life.”
Jonathan, in the script, was a cold–hearted CEO who, after being saved by the female lead, fell in love with her. Unfortunately, the female lead had someone else she liked, so he had to suppress his feelings and silently protect her from the shadows.
“The leads are rigged up. Let’s begin,” Carlos’s voice echoed, his eyes fixed on the wire attached to Jonathan.
As the clapperboard was snapped shut, Annabel was fully immersed in her role, her eyes filled with intense hatred and unwillingness to give.. body trembling with pain.
She laughed silently, her voice barely audible but powerful. “Bitch and bastard, if I get the chance, I’ll make you pay a hundredfold.” With that, she flipped over the edge of the cliff.
But her hand was suddenly grasped tightly by a man covered in blood, his handsome face twisted with grief. “Madeline, don’t.”

“It’s you?” Her eyes flickered with reluctance and regret, but then she said furiously, “Let go. My problems are none of your concern. The farther you stay away, the better.”
Before Annabel could finish her line, the wire holding Jonathan suddenly wobbled, and he began to fall rapidly.
“Ah,” Someone on set screained.
Though the hill was small, it was nearly three stories high. It might not be fatal, but breaking an arm or a leg would be a disaster they couldn’t afford.
“Watch out.” Annabel instinctively tightened her grip, holding onto Jonathan.
Jonathan felt her concern, and a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he tried to shake her off.
Annabel quickly tightened her hold even more. First, Jonathan was of noble status. If anything happened to him, she couldn’t bear the consequences. Second, if word got out that an actor was injured due to a wire rigging issue on set, it would be a huge blow to the fledgling Aether Studios.

hand gripping the wire on her back, he pulled her into his arms.
Suddenly, they both lurched and collided violently with the mountainside.
Jonathan’s brows furrowed in pain as he twisted his body to shield Annabel, taking the brunt of the impact on his back.
But a single wire couldn’t support the weight of two people. As the crew above pulled, the wire kept swaying. Despite Jonathan’s best efforts to protect her, they both crashed into the cliff face again.
Annabel let out a muffled groan, and beads of sweat quickly appeared on her forehead. Concern flickered in Jonathan’s deep eyes. “Where does it hurt?”
Biting her lower lip, Annabel didn’t respond. After the collision, the crew quickly pulled them up. Almost everyone gathered around. “Miss White, are you okay?”
Jonathan, anxious about Annabel’s injuries, immediately got up to check on her. He saw that her lower leg was bleeding and her ankle was already bruised.
Without a word, he scooped Annabel up in his arms and headed outside.
Annabel knew she couldn’t walk and didn’t try to be stubborn. Her face was relaxing at all.

Jonathan, thinking Annabel was in pain, softly comforted her. “Hold on, I’ll get you to the hospital right away.”
Carlos caught up, shouting. “Mr. Turner, your back is bleeding. You need to deal with that wound immediately.”
Annabel remembered how Jonathan had protected her during the multiple impacts. He must be injured just as badly. She immediately said coldly, “Jonathan, put me down. You’re injured too.”
Jonathan’s lips were pale as he smiled. “Little Wildcat, don’t talk. Carrying you has already worn me out.”
Annabel didn’t dare to resist, fearing it would worsen Jonathan’s injuries. Eventually, she was

When they arrived at the hospital, Jillian had just reached her office. She was only a visiting professor at the hospital, rarely coming here since she usually worked at the research institute. Only Jonathan could get her to help out.
“How did you get injured?” Jillian asked.

Jonathan frowned. “External impact. I only saw the injury on her lower leg, but she needs to be checked for other injuries?
Jillian nodded. “Let’s get an X–ray first,”
The results came back quickly. Fortunately, Annabel hadn’t broken any bones; she just had soft tissue contusions.
As Jillian examined the X–ray, she advised, “It’s quite serious. She won’t be able to walk for a while and needs to rest properly. No physical labor.
Jonathan listened attentively when suddenly a man burst into the room, shouting, “It’s all your fault, Annabel, that you got hurt.” In the next second, he swung a punch, but missed.
He tried again, but before his fist could make contact, Jonathan grabbed his wrist. His eyes were deep, and his entire presence was imposing
“Even if it’s my fault, it’s none of your business to lecture me. Who do you think you are?” Jonathan’s tone was icy.
Mason wanted to say something more, but Jillian coldly interjected, “Take your personal issues outside. This is a hospital; keep it quiet.”
Jonathan released Mason’s wrist.
Mason glanced at Jonathan, then at Jillian, gritting his teeth. “Where’s Annabel?”
“The ward,” Jonathan said.
Mason looked at the two of them, let out a cold snort, and left the office to find Annabel in the ward.
Jonathan frowned and also stood up to follow.
Annabel had her wounds treated, her foot bandaged and elevated. When she saw the two men enter, she didn’t speak and turned her head away.
As soon as Mason entered the ward, he said, “I’m going to check Annabel out of the hospital.”
Jonathan glared at Mason coldly and said, word for word, “Do you want her to be disabled for life?”
