24. Hope

I take a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts and emotions. I'm sitting in the throne room with my family, trying to explain my experiences from Ikyn’s territory.

"At first, I was scared and nervous," I say, trying to choose my words carefully. "I had never been away from home before, and the Dragon Lands were so...different. But as I spent more time there, I began to feel...something. For Ikyn."

My parents exchange a concerned glance, and my sisters look at me with wide eyes.

"What do you mean, Eira?" my mother asks, her voice gentle but probing.

I hesitate, trying to put my feelings into words. "I don't know," I admit finally. "It was just...he was so different from what I expected. He was kind and gentle. It was as if the hardness we had known of him was only a farce."

My father's expression turns skeptical. "Eira, you have to be careful," he says. "The Dragon King is not to be trusted. He has a reputation for being ruthless and cunning."

I nod, knowing that my father is right. But I also know that there is more to Ikyn than meets the eye. Besides, Ikyn is *nothing* like the Dragon Lord before him. A shiver runs down my spine. "Ikyn told me something," I say, trying to continue my story. "He told me that the Dragon Queen has to be the peace between all living beings. Otherwise, the darkness within him would take over, and all the dragons would go against the humans once again."

My family looks at me in shock, and I can see the fear and worry etched on their faces.

"What does that mean?" Gweneira asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

I take a deep breath, trying to explain, "It means that if I don't become the Dragon Queen, the entire world could be destroyed. Ikyn said that the Dragon Queen has the power to bring balance and harmony to the world, but if she fails, the consequences would be catastrophic."

My family looks at me, and I can see the weight of my words settling on them.

"So why did Ikyn send you back home?" my mother asks, again gentle, though I can see the worry in her eyes.

I hesitate, trying to put my thoughts and emotions into words. "I think it's because I pushed him away," I admit finally. "I had a vision of the previous Dragon King, and it tormented me. I had nightmares, and I couldn't shake the feeling of fear and dread. Ikyn tried to help me, but I pushed him away. And I think that's why he sent me back home."

My family looks back and forth from me to each other. I can see the concern and worry etched on their faces.

"Eira, we're here for you," my father says, his voice firm but gentle. "We'll support you no matter what. But you have to be careful. The Dragon King is not to be trusted, and the fate of the world is at stake."

I nod, feeling a sense of determination rising up inside me. I know that I have a difficult road ahead of me, but I'm ready to face whatever challenges come my way.

My family looks at me, shock and concern etched on their faces.

"Eira, this is a lot to take in," my mother adds, her voice full of concern as she holds my shoulders more so to steady herself. "Are you sure you're okay?"

I nod, trying to reassure her. "I'm fine, Mother," I say. "I just need some time to process everything."

My father's expression turns serious. "Eira, we need to talk about the implications of what you're telling us," he says. "If the Dragon King is telling the truth, then the fate of the world really is at stake."

Gweneira and Lumi look at each other nervously. "What does this mean for us?" Gweneira asks.

My father's expression turns grim. "It means that we need to be prepared for anything," he says. "If the Dragon King's darkness takes over, it could mean war. And we need to be ready to defend ourselves."

I feel a surge of fear at my father's words. *War?* It's a possibility I hadn't considered.

But then I look at Soldreru, who is standing quietly in the corner of the room. She meets my eye, and I feel a sense of calm wash over me.

I know that I have a difficult road ahead of me. But with Soldreru and my family by my side, I feel like I can face anything.

"What do we do now?" Lumi asks, breaking the silence.

My father's expression turns determined. "We prepare for the worst," he says. "And we hope for the best."

I nod, feeling a sense of determination rising up inside me. I know that I have a crucial role to play in the events that are unfolding. But am I ready to do whatever it takes to protect my kingdom and my people?

Pacing back and forth in front of the war room, I try to bear the weight of the potential consequences of either of my decisions. I've never been in a meeting with the kings of the other kingdoms before, and I'm not sure what to expect.

The door opens and I am finally summoned. Taking a deep breath, I  step inside taking in the war room. The war room is a large, dimly lit chamber with stone walls and a high, vaulted ceiling. The room is dominated by a massive wooden table, polished to a high shine by years of use. The table is covered in maps, charts, and diagrams, detailing the military strength and strategic positions of our kingdoms and our enemies.

The walls of the room are adorned with banners, pennants, and other symbols of our kingdoms' military might. There are also shelves and cabinets, filled with books, scrolls, and other documents containing our kingdoms' military history and strategy.

At the far end of the room, there is a large fireplace, where a fire crackles and spits, casting flickering shadows on the walls. The air is thick with the smell of smoke, sweat, and leather.

The room is dimly lit, with only a few candles flickering to light the space. King Lios of Sarkis and King Monse of Kyai, sit at a large wooden table, their faces grave and serious. My father takes his seat at the head of the table, and I stand beside him, trying to calm my nerves.

"Eira, please tell the kings what you learned in the Dragon Lands," my father says, his voice firm but gentle.

Taking a deep breath, I begin to explain, trying to leave out no details. I tell them about Ikyn's warning, about the darkness within him that threatens to consume everything. I tell them about the vision I had of the previous Dragon King, and about the nightmares that still haunt me.

As I speak, I can feel the weight of the kings' gazes on me. They listen intently, their faces growing graver and more serious with each passing moment.

When I finish speaking, the room falls silent. The kings look at each other, and then back at me.

"What do you propose we do, Princess Eira?" King Lios asks, his voice deep and rumbling.

I take a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. "I propose that we try to find a peaceful solution," I say. "I know that Ikyn is a powerful and dangerous enemy, but I also know that he is not beyond reason. If we can find a way to appeal to him, to reach the good in him, then maybe we can prevent a war."

King Monse snorts. "You think the Dragon King is capable of reason?" he asks, his voice dripping with skepticism. "He's a monster, Princess. A beast with no conscience and no heart."

I feel a surge of anger at King Monse's words, but I try to keep my temper in check. "I understand that you may have doubts, Your Majesty," I say. "But I assure you, Ikyn is not a monster. He's a complex and multifaceted person, and he deserves our respect and our compassion."

King Lios raises an eyebrow. "And what makes you think that you can succeed where others have failed, Princess?" he asks.

I take a deep breath, trying to gather my courage. "I don't know if I can succeed," I admit. "But I do know that I have to try. I owe it to my kingdom, and to the people who are counting on me."

The kings look at each other, and then back at me. I can see the skepticism in their eyes, but I also see a glimmer of hope.

"Very well, Princess," King Lios says finally. "We will support you in your efforts to find a peaceful solution. But we must also be prepared for the possibility of war."
