Rebecca Cameron’s obsessive journey
Raising a brow at him, Jacob asked. “Is there anything I don’t know about?”
“Well…” Jackson shrugged slightly. “Aside from the fact that father had mismanaged the mob family after you left, I don’t think there's much to catch up with.”
Jacob’s facial expression gradually turned into a scowl. “Mismanaged? Are you saying the old man lost his touch?”
“Apparently, he doesn’t have what it takes to be the leader of a mob anymore,” Jackson replied. “The last time I visited the mob house, there were less than 20 in there. So scanty, I couldn’t even stomach it.”
“Good for him.” Jacob blurted out insensitive, that was when Jackson realized that even though his twin brother had renounced his shrewdness, coldness, and ruthlessness, he was still insensitive and remorseless to certain things. Which includes their father.
“If we later find Anna, will you forgive him?” He found himself asking but Jacob didn’t reply and he changed the conversation.
“You said you found the artist?”
“Yes, I should meet up with them today, as they will be arriving from Jersey soon.” Jackson explained to Jacob before adding that he was also supposed to get a painting from them.
“Oh, you were even able to book a painting? I thought they only sell through auctions?”
“I wasn’t the one that found the artist. It was Rebecca Cameron, and she had done everything before informing me.”
Upon hearing the name ‘Cameron’ Jacob’s body stiffened instantly. “How did she get that news?” He couldn’t hide the disgust from his voice. He despises all the members of the Cameron family.
“She has her spies in my company. I found out late, but I've dismissed them all.” Jackson, who could still remember what had happened that day frowned his face in hatred.
He couldn’t even tell Jacob because he knew that Jacob wouldn’t take it lightly on her as he had done at all.
Jacob nodded, feeling a bit calm after listening to Jackson’s words, but he still felt like there was more to it. Thinking deeply, he gradually realized that their father had called an impromptu meeting just a few hours on the same day they had brought Anna to Jackson’s office.
Upon the realization, his frown returned. “Did you remember when we brought Anna to your office?” He asked, and Jackson nodded.
“Of course, the day Rhoda returned from Birmingham?”
“It was also the day our mother called for an impromptu family meeting,” Jacob added, and Jackson started putting the pieces together.
“Are you saying?” His tone reflected the shock on his face.
“Yea, that’s what I’m saying. If it’s true, I will make sure Rebecca Cameron has no legs to walk for the rest of her life.” Jacob stated coldly as he still couldn’t believe that a woman, who they hadn’t met before could go through such lengths just to marry into their family.
Jackson felt his whole body shudder at the thought and he began to think about everything once again. Rebecca having a surgery to look like Anna, and how she had said that she had met him when she was 13.
That- wouldn’t that be a blatant obsessive journey if she was the one behind all of this?
Reaching this point, he knew he had to tell Jacob about everything that had happened in his office that eventful morning.
“That fucking bitch!” Jacob hit his hand on the car seat in anger. “I will fucking rip her apart.” His voice was so cold and domineering that Jackson feared that he might actually kill Rebecca when he saw her.
“She brought the details of the artist you are looking for, it’s okay if she just loses her legs.” Jackson had to remind Jacob, even though he knew that it could never atone for her sins.
“The day I see her will be her last day on the earth.” Jacob left no room for negotiations as everything got a bit clearer in his head.
Seeing that there was no way he could change Jacob’s mind, Jackson didn’t say anything until they got to his house. “I will have to meet the artist in less than an hour. How about we call Rhoda and Christian over? A little family get together?” He suggested and Jacob shrugged.
“Whatever.” He was still raging inwardly because of what he had just found out about Rebecca Cameron, and he knew that couldn't be her only crime.
If there was still any of it, he would find out, and when he did, he will make sure to torture her until she regretted ever putting herself between them and Anna.
Within a few minutes after they arrived, Rhoda and Christian appeared, but Jacob was still sleeping, as he was very exhausted.
Jackson ordered some takeout, especially steaks and left them all in Rhoda’s care, so he could quickly meet up with the artist.
It didn’t take long when he left that Jacob woke up, and he stumbled upon Rhoda telling her Christian that she hadn’t ever thought she would be back again in Jackson’s house after they all left for the family meeting that night.
“Did something happen in the main house that night aside from what we all know?” Christian asked Rhoda curiously and she slowly nodded without realizing that Jacob was behind them.
“What happened that night? Did you meet anyone in the house?”
Rhoda’s head hung in shame as she had been keeping this secret to herself for too long, and she knew that it must be the reason why her uncle had paid Anna to leave the twins.
“I don't even know where to start.” She sniffed back the tears that had threatened to drop.
“Well, you better start from the beginning and leave no stone untouched.” Jacob asserted coldly he appeared before them. His facial expression exuded the same ruthless and unforgiving Jacob of 5 years ago.
“Ja. . . cob.” Rhoda felt her body quiver in terror when she saw this side of Jacob again.
“Start talking before I forget the fact that you are my cousin.”
