Chapter 5 Room 211
Alpha Elijah Alastair - POV
I buttoned up my shirt and quickly picked up my phone to check if Ella had texted me when a frown appeared on my face. “What’s wrong, Elijah? You look disappointed?” Maddie purred as she ran her finger down my back before resting her chest against it.
“Antonella hasn't texted or called me since this evening.” I said out loud when I felt her move away from me, and a second later she was standing in front of me with a bright smile on her face.
“Don’t worry, she would never come in between us again.” Madison said in glee when my eyes narrowed in slits.
“What are you talking about?”
“Well, I believe she must have seen us together,” she said in a singsong voice.
“That’s not possible. She must be at the Christmas Eve party. And she did tell me that she would be staying at Zuri’s house afterwards.” I told her, but something didn't feel right. I mistakenly contacted the border patrol team, and someone answered my mind link.
“Alpha Alastair, is something wrong?”
“Where is Luna Antonella?” I asked him.
“She entered the pack just a few minutes after midnight, but we saw her car leave the pack later,” he replied when my blood boiled in anger. I immediately cut the mind link and turned my attention back to Madison.
“What did you do, Madison?” I asked her in a dangerously calm voice.
“What do you think it means, Elijah?”
“The border patrol team has seen Antonella enter the pack right after midnight. She was not supposed to be here at that time.”
“How long are we going to keep our relationship hidden, Elijah? So I took measures into my own hands,” she said in a nonchalant way.
“What did you do?”
“I asked her to come to room 211 right after midnight.” That was it; all I saw was red as I grabbed hold of her neck and slammed her against the wall.
“E…Elijah, I…I…can’t breathe.” Madison choked out. Her face was slowly turning blue while her nails dug into my flesh, but that only made me squeeze her neck tighter. At one point she gave up; her eyes rolled to the back of her head while she gasped a few times. Just when her life was about to depart, I let her go.
As she fell to the floor, her eyes opened wide as she took in greedy gulps of air while she rubbed her swollen throat. I walked to the dressing table and grabbed the box of cigarettes and took one out and placed it between my lips before lighting it up.
“What made you think I would make you my Luna, Madison?” I asked her in a calm tone. She did not reply, and this was getting on my nerves when I turned around to see her pressed against the wall, her eyes wide in fear while tears streamed down her cheeks.
“How could you do this to me, Elijah?” She asked me in an angry tone.
“Answer my question, Madison.” I retorted.
“We were together for two years. And weren't you the one who promised that I would one day be your Luna?” she asked me.
“I did, but I said that because you seemed obedient and stupid. But I think I made a mistake.” I asserted.
“Elijah, how could you say that! I fucking loved you, and I rejected my mate for you!” she spat out when I raised a warning eyebrow at her. “Do you love her?” she asked me, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I don't.” I answered truthfully.
“Then why don't you want me as your Luna?” She asked me; her eyes held pain and betrayal, but I did not care. All I saw her as was a quick fuck.
I took two large steps until I was standing right in front of her, and before she could run, I grabbed hold of her hair and pushed her head back, rocking her to look at me. “I don't want a slut as my Luna. Now listen carefully, Madison. I don't want to see your face anymore; if I did, then pray to God you have a quick death.” I told her in a cold one when I saw the fear swirl in her eyes while the sound of her heartbeat was loud and clear.
I pushed her away and grabbed my phone and stormed out of the room. As I arrived at the reception, I paid for the room and walked out of the hotel. The pack was deserted since no one returned back home after the party last night.
I walked into the forest and looked around before shifting into my grey wolf as I ran deeper into the forest. It felt like hours, but it took me only a few minutes as I reached the cabin. I shifted back and walked to the nearest tree and took out a pair of shorts and wore them before walking towards the cabin.
Smoke was coming through the chimney when I lightly knocked on the door, my heart hammering against my chest. I heard light footsteps inside, and soon the door opened. “Alpha Alastair, I didn't know you were coming to meet her today,” the woman standing in front of me said in shock.
She was wearing a sundress under a doctor’s coat; her golden blonde hair was done in a messy bun, while her eyes were puffy. She clearly looked exhausted. “Is she asleep?” I asked her when she shook her head.
“She might fall asleep in a few minutes since I just gave her the medicine,” she replied when I nodded my head. She soon stepped aside when I walked inside. The strong stench of disinfectant burnt my nostrils as we walked down the small hallway and soon stopped in front of a closed door.
“You can go back home.” I told her in a monotone when she bowed her head at me before walking out of the cabin. I took a deep breath before I opened the door and stepped inside the room. The curtains were drawn, making the room feel dark and ominous.
As I turned on the lights, the woman lying on the bed squinted her eyes when she finally locked her gaze on me. The room was barely furnished. There was a single bed beside the door with two side tables that were scattered with tablets and bottles of medicines.
“Elijah, why are you here?” the woman asked me as she slowly got up and sat again at the headboard. Her face was sunken into her skull; her once bright green eyes looked almost grey, while her wavy brown hair was completely grey with only a few strands left.
She even looked like she had lost even more weight, which made a pang settle in my heart. “I came to see you.” I told her, but then I saw fear swirl in her eyes as she shook her head.
“Something is wrong.” Her voice was frail, and it broke me to hear her.
“Antonella left the pack.” I told her. Neither of us spoke for a solid ten minutes when she finally let out an agonised wail. I immediately rushed to her bed and quickly wrapped my arms around her as she continued to scream.
