Chapter 29 – Cold Sheets
Chapter 29 – Cold Sheets
Nolie POV
“God, I miss him.”
The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.
The first thing I felt wasn’t comfort. It was the empty space beside me.
For a second, half-asleep, I reached out. My fingers brushed only cold fabric. No warm chest. No Zorak.
The bed felt too big without Zorak. Too cold. Last night Vanya had curled around me like a cat, soft and warm her arm heavy across my waist., smelling like rosewater. But sometime after midnight she’d slipped out, back to Verlin’s bed.
I woke up alone. Shivering.
The sheets were thick, silky, nothing like the scratchy blanket in Zorak’s shed. Still, they couldn’t make up for his heat. My body knew it, remembered it.
The cold hit me first. The kind that crawled under my skin. I dragged the blanket tighter, but it didn’t help. My nipples were already hard, straining under the thin fabric of the nightgown someone had left for me.
I hated that I missed his heat. His weight. Even the way he hogged space when he slept.
I slid my hands under the covers pressing it against my stomach, desperate for warmth.
My skin felt cool. My body felt restless.
My nipples brushed against the fabric of my nightgown, hard already, so damn sensitive it made me whimper.
I closed my eyes again.
Zorak’s mouth. His hands. The way he took me in the car, rough and wild, like he couldn’t get enough. My thighs pressed tight just remembering it. The toys he pulled out of nowhere, how he teased me until I couldn’t think straight—how my voice had broken, begging him to just fuck me already.
God. Just remembering made my body ache.
I bit my lip, squeezing my thighs together harder. My body was already awake. Already needing.
But he wasn’t here.
I hated it. Hated that I wanted him this bad. Hated that just one night without him felt like a hole in my chest.
I rolled onto my back, staring up at the ceiling. My hand slid lower, like it had a mind of its own.
I closed my eyes and imagined him.
Zorak’s hand on my throat. His mouth dragging down my skin in that car, licking me like he owned me. The weight of the toy in his fist, the way he teased me—made me beg before he finally slid it inside.
My thighs squeezed together at the memory.
“Fuck,” I whispered. My breath fogged the cold air.
My hand moved lower, slipping beneath the lace of my white panties. My skin was already wet, sticky. My fingers slid through it, circling my clit slowly, imagining it was him, not me.
I pressed harder. My hips jerked.
“Zorak,” I breathed.
I cupped my breast with my other hand, squeezing, kneading, pinching my nipple between my fingers until it hurt. I moaned, loud in the empty room. The sound made me blush—but I didn’t stop. Couldn’t.
Every stroke of my fingers, I pictured his. The way he spread me wide in the backseat, talking filthy in my ear.
“Such a dirty girl, Nolie,” I whispered to myself, echoing his voice.
My body arched. The sheets tangled around my legs as I bucked against my own hand, chasing that feeling. Faster now. Circling, dipping, sliding two fingers inside, fucking myself slow at first, then harder.
“Oh, God” I gasped, biting my lip.
The bed shook. My moans filled the room. I was losing control. My back bowed, sweat slicking my skin, my nipples rubbed raw under my touch. I pressed my palm harder against my clit, trembling, wet noises filling the silence.
“Zorak, please” I moaned, begging a ghost.imagining his voice in my ear. Such a dirty girl, Nolie. My dirty little sin.
I moaned louder, pressing two fingers inside myself, thrusting deep, wet sounds filling the silence. My body trembled, sweat slicked my skin. My nipple rubbed raw under my grip.
“Zorak—fuck”
The sheets tangled around my legs. My hips lifted, rocking into my hand.
The orgasm slammed through me, sharp, shaking. My toes curled, my thighs clamped tight, my whole body arching as the wave rolled through. I cried out into the pillow, muffling the sound.
And then
The door creaked.
“Holy shit, Nolie.”
I froze. My hand still buried between my legs.
Vanya leaned against the doorframe, smirking. “Well… good morning to you too.”
“Jesus!” I yanked my hand out, dragging the blanket up over my chest, face burning hot. “I Fuck—I didn’t—”
She laughed, walking in. “Don’t even try. I heard every moan.”
I buried my face in the pillow. “Oh my God.”
She laughed, stepping in, shutting the door with her hip. “Don’t look so guilty. You think you’re the only one who does that?”
My mouth opened, closed. “You—heard”
“Every moan.” She grinned, climbing onto the bed like it was nothing. “Relax. I’m not judging. Hell, when Verlin goes away on business? Please. My bed’s practically soaked by morning.”
“Vanya!” I buried my face in the pillow.
She grinned. “Trust me, you’re not alone.”
She laughed harder, tugging at the blanket. “Don’t be embarrassed. Zorak’s… well. He’s Zorak. Half the women in this county have probably imagined him fucking them.
My cheeks burned hotter. My stomach flipped. I hated how true it sounded.
Vanya smirked. “You just get the real thing.”
My cheeks burned hotter.
That made me blush worse. “You’re insane.”
“Maybe.” She leaned over, kissed my cheek softly. “Lucky insane. But so are you. And don’t pretend Zorak isn’t worth touching yourself over.
Now get up, sinner. We’ve got things to do. Can’t have you laying around waiting for your Don to come back and dick you down.”
My body was still humming, my thighs sticky under the blanket. I couldn’t believe she’d caught me like that—shaking, moaning his name like I was possessed. Shame burned my cheeks, but underneath it… I was still throbbing. Still needing him. Vanya’s grin told me she saw all of it.
I groaned into the pillow, still flushed, still throbbing faintly between my legs.
Vanya was already digging into a bag she’d dragged from her room. She tossed dresses on the bed—red silk, green velvet, a pale blue one that shimmered like water.
“What the hell is all this?” I asked.
“Wedding prep,” she sang. “You’re marrying Zorak, remember? Try them on. Humor me.”
I gave her a look. “You’re unbelievable.”
“And you’re spoiled,” she shot back, smirking. Then her voice dropped, serious for a beat. “Also—we need to investigate that little incident from last night. Without the men. Kill two birds with one stone, right?”
That made my chest tighten. “So you believe me.”
“I told you, I saw the footprints too,” she said simply. “
“Now, get your ass up,” she said, bouncing off the bed. “You’ve got dresses to try on, wedding plans to start, and”—her voice dropped, sharp—“an intruder to catch.”
