Chapter 59 Bullying Incident
Chapter 59 Bullying Incident
"This is bad! Your dorm is flooded. Water's already seeping out from under the door. You need to get back there now!"
I recognized him—he was a student from the dorm next to ours.
Darius and I immediately rushed back to the dorm.
A crowd of students had already gathered downstairs. When they saw us appear, they all turned to look at us. I noticed that it wasn't just our room 719—several nearby dorms were affected too, with water covering the hallway floor.
"What exactly happened?" I asked.
The student who came to tell us explained, "Someone used low-level shadow demons to mess with the dorm's magic water system. All the water control arrays went haywire, and the faucets kept running."
A student in the crowd looked at us with disgust and sneered, "Logan, why bother explaining all this to them? We're suffering because of them."
Logan pressed his lips together and looked at everyone hesitantly. "Phil, don't say that..."
Phil raised his voice, full of resentment. "I'm just stating facts! I heard you guys caused trouble in class today. This prank was definitely aimed at you, and we all got dragged into it for no reason!"
The surrounding students chimed in. "Yeah, a full day of classes is exhausting enough, and now we come back to this mess."
"Such a pain, causing problems for everyone."
"I really don't understand why the academy allows Voidborn students to stay on campus."
I frowned and scanned the watching crowd. "Don't Voidborn people have the right to study normally? Think rationally before you speak. In this situation, we're victims just like everyone else. Blaming us won't solve anything."
Phil's face darkened. "The trouble started because of you, and we're not allowed to say anything?"
"Have you never caused any trouble for the people around you?" I shot back. "I see now. Someone like you with no empathy—even when you cause problems, you never reflect on yourself, right?"
Phil's face turned completely dark. "What did you say?"
I raised an eyebrow. "What, did I hit a nerve? Now you can't help getting angry?"
"You!"
Phil rolled up his sleeves and stepped forward, ready to fight. Darius immediately moved in front of me, staring at him coldly. "You planning to throw a punch?"
Fear flashed in Phil's eyes, but he still tried to argue stubbornly.
Sudden rapid footsteps approached.
"What's going on here?" Elowen scanned the scene, her brow furrowed tightly.
"Ms. Moore, someone used low-level shadow demons to interfere with the public magic facilities, causing flooding throughout this entire dorm area," I spoke up first, my voice cold. "They all decided it's our fault. Instead of tracking down the real culprit, they're collectively blaming the victims." I pressed my lips together, my mood darkening. "We've been continuously targeted and bullied, and now we're being blamed for nothing."
Phil muttered under his breath, "It is your problem. Why is everyone targeting you and not others? Isn't the root cause with you?"
"Enough." Elowen cut him off sharply. She announced seriously, "The academy will not tolerate any form of bullying. Vanessa and Darius have done nothing wrong and shouldn't face baseless accusations. What's most important right now is finding whoever is behind this prank."
With that, Elowen raised her wand and channeled magic into the magic mirror on the hallway wall. The mirror's surface instantly rippled with waves of magical energy. A red-haired female spirit slowly emerged from the mirror. She held a delicate magic wine flask and lazily sipped from it.
"Why wake me up on purpose? Don't you know I have my own schedule?"
Elowen looked at her seriously. "There was a malicious prank in the dorm area. You guard the mirror realm—did you see what the culprit looked like?"
The spirit in the mirror lazily played with her hair, her eyes hazy with intoxication. She hummed lightly, her tone casual. "Not interested in paying attention. Don't know the situation."
Elowen's expression grew more serious.
This was my first time seeing this mirror guardian, and I couldn't help quietly observing her. I'd heard before that all the mirrors in the academy dorms housed a guardian spirit. She had no physical form and could freely travel through all public mirrors on campus.
Just then, the Mirror-Wraith suddenly made a face at me. Caught off guard, I instinctively took two steps back.
"Vanessa." The Mirror-Wraith slowly said my name, her voice lazy and alluring, with a tipsy quality that made people unconsciously drawn in.
I was confused. Why did she know my name? Just as I was about to ask, Elowen spoke first. "I've just brewed a new batch of spirit liquor, all made with top-grade magical materials."
The Mirror-Wraith's attention was instantly captured. Her pale fingers hooked around the flask handle as she lazily looked Elowen up and down. "You really know what I like best."
I realized her preferences were painfully obvious—anyone could see through them at a glance.
"I'd like to trade this batch of spirit liquor for information about this incident. It's a win-win deal for both of us," Elowen said softly.
The Mirror-Wraith held up three fingers, her tone bargaining. "One bottle isn't enough. At least three."
Elowen's smile stiffened slightly, but she finally nodded. "Okay."
Only then did the Mirror-Wraith slowly recall the earlier scene. "Now that you mention it, I do remember a few lower-year students came by here earlier and summoned some harmless low-level shadow demons. I saw there was no danger, so I didn't intervene."
"What did they look like?" Elowen asked immediately.
"One had blonde hair and wore a blue pendant. The other two had blue hair and looked reckless and arrogant."
I understood right away. These people failed to get their way in the classroom during the day, so they came back at night to cause more trouble, continuing to target us.
I immediately told Elowen, "Ms. Moore, these are the same students who maliciously bullied us in class today." I then gave her the three names.
Elowen nodded. "I understand. I'll handle this right away. All of you—" she looked around at all the students— "clean up the water in your dorms yourselves and stop gathering to argue."
The watching students all responded and returned to their dorms.
Darius and I also went back to our dorm. Pushing open the door, the entire floor was covered in water, with damp moisture filling the room. I sighed helplessly and turned to look at Darius. "Let's clean up the water on the floor first."
"Okay."
Darius and I each controlled a magic cleaning tool and quietly tidied up the messy dorm. As I cleaned, I fumed silently. These people didn't dare confront us directly and only used these underhanded methods to secretly retaliate. It was truly despicable.
We quickly finished cleaning the water in the living room, then each cleaned our own bedrooms.
After I mopped up the water on my bedroom floor, Darius came to my bedroom door. "Need help?"
I didn't look up and said, "Yes, my closet got soaked. I need to take out all the clothes and hang them to dry."
"No problem."
Darius stepped forward and pulled open the closet door. I finished cleaning the floor and walked over just as a pile of clothes slid and tumbled out of the closet.
Darius bent down to pick something up, his cheeks flushing pink as he looked up at me.
When I saw clearly what he was holding, heat rushed to my face.
