Chapter 569
Chapter 569
It's been twenty-four hours since Felicity disappeared.
If this was a malicious kidnapping, this amount of time was already very dangerous.
Ever since Harry reported it to the police, he'd been anxiously waiting for their results.
Finally, as dusk fell in the evening, he received word back from the police.
The person on the other end probably knew Harry was worried, so without waiting for Harry to ask, they took the initiative to say: "Mr. Robinson, good news - we've found your mother, Ms. Wagner."
"That's great! Where is she? Is she in the hospital? Is she hurt?"
But after Harry's string of questions, the operator on the other end fell silent for a moment.
Then they said: "Unfortunately, Ms. Wagner seems to have some misunderstanding about you. She currently doesn't want to contact you directly. We can only say that she's safe."
Harry froze for a moment.
Then he said in a complicated tone: "Okay, I understand. As long as she's safe. What should I do now?"
"Well, that's actually why we're contacting you now," the operator continued. "Ms. Wagner doesn't want to come with us, so we're hoping that whatever the misunderstanding is, you can talk to her about it, and then you can take Ms. Wagner home as soon as possible."
"If Ms. Wagner needs it, the station can arrange psychological counseling."
After hearing the whole story, a strange feeling flashed through Harry's mind.
What exactly did Dominic say to Felicity after taking her away?
To make Felicity not even trust him now.
Feeling heavy-hearted, he informed Harper about this, then with police coordination, went to see Felicity.
Unexpectedly, when Felicity heard Harry had come, she refused to even see him.
She stammered on the phone.
She kept avoiding telling Harry honestly what had happened during this time.
He had no way to deal with Felicity, so he could only sigh and first tell Harper that everything was fine on his end.
The kidnapping was indeed just a misunderstanding.
"Ms. Orsini, we were able to find my mom so quickly thanks to your and Mr. Elikin's help. I'll get to the bottom of what happened with my mom as soon as possible. That's all for now." Before hanging up, Harry said sincerely and gratefully: "Thank you for not holding grudges. If you need anything in the future, feel free to ask for my help anytime."
Harper was noncommittal.
After telling him to take good care of Felicity, she hung up.
But in her heart, she quietly became wary of Felicity.
From Felicity's reaction, Dominic must have told her something after taking her away.
That's what made her attitude so strange.
As for what exactly Dominic said, Harper had no way of knowing for now.
She could only be secretly on guard, in case Dominic had influenced Felicity's judgment, making her distrust Harper too, which would mess things up.
So Harper didn't mention asking them for help anymore, only telling Harry to take care of his mother first.
Harry gratefully agreed.
After hanging up, Harper casually glanced at her personal phone.
She was surprised to find that Molly, who had disappeared for several days, finally had news.
"Harper?" Molly seemed a bit hesitant when she saw Harper, asking somewhat embarrassedly: "Did my sudden departure cause you trouble?"
"You're pursuing your own happiness - what trouble is that?" Harper answered Molly with a smile: "I'm just curious, you disappeared for so many days, people who didn't know might think Lucas kidnapped you. Where did you two go on your honeymoon?"
Faced with Harper's teasing, Molly became even more embarrassed.
She smiled with pursed lips and pointed her phone at the surroundings - it was clearly a foreign country.
In the frame, the sunshine was bright and everything looked peaceful. Even Molly herself looked much better.
She explained to Harper: "We went abroad right away, and we've only just settled down now. I called you first thing."
Harper laughed: "So you really did go on a honeymoon."
Molly shyly admitted it.
More than their current location, Harper was surprised by Molly's state of mind.
The wedding drama had caused quite a stir. The trending news still hadn't completely died down - it could be said to be the biggest event in the entertainment industry this year.
Yet both people involved were handling it remarkably well.
Lucas was one thing, but looking at Molly's state, she was doing surprisingly well too.
Clearly, whether it was running away from the wedding or leaving with Lucas, Molly was handling it all just fine?
Harper felt relieved and joked: "You two are living it up now, unaware of the storm online. Those people arguing online probably have no idea the people involved are actually having such a great time."
Molly was very open-minded: "That's the one bad thing about being a celebrity, but I'm used to it. I'm just worried about causing you trouble."
And now, seeing that Harper wasn't blaming her, the weight on Molly's heart finally lifted completely.
She hesitated for a moment, then said apologetically: "Actually, I contacted you today because there's something I need your help with."
"It's about the child, right?" Harper already knew what Molly was going to say: "The nanny is taking care of him now. Since you can't come back anytime soon, just relax and enjoy your vacation. I'll find a few more childcare specialists."
Hearing this, the last trace of worry in Molly's eyes completely disappeared.
She said gratefully to Harper: "That's wonderful. I've been most worried about the child. I came to you hoping you could help take care of him."
After learning that Harper had already made arrangements, Molly said with a light laugh: "I knew you were the best."
"Of course. You little heartless thing, you didn't say that when you ran off."
Molly laughed a couple times on the other end of the phone.
Lucas's voice came from behind, seemingly asking something.
Seeing the smile on Molly's face when she talked to him, Harper's gaze quietly softened. She didn't want to disturb their time together anymore.
She told Molly to enjoy her vacation and not worry, and quickly arranged for the child's care.
Molly had suffered so much over the years. Now that she finally had time completely to herself, Harper hoped she could really enjoy it.
As for the child...
Originally, she wasn't sure when Molly would return, so the child was still at Molly's former residence, just with someone taking care of him full-time.
But now, knowing that Molly wouldn't be back anytime soon.
Harper simply brought the child back to her own home.
Caden quietly strengthened the home security, occasionally glancing at Harper's lower abdomen, then at the child, sighing inwardly.
During this time, they also hadn't forgotten to search for Dylan, who had disappeared long ago.
They had already gotten his basic information from Stephen.
When Dylan resigned, he claimed he had saved enough money to go back to his hometown to get married.
But after the kidnapping incident, they found out that Dylan never appeared in his hometown, and there was no news of any marriage either.
