Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Have Matthew serve her? She wouldn't dare even if she had all the guts in the world.

As for SM, that was completely made up.

She'd just picked up bits and pieces from working at the nightclub back in the day. She never imagined that Jack, blinded by lust, would drop his guard so completely.

Evelyn sneered inwardly. Her chance had come.

She walked to the wall, pretending to select carefully. Her gaze landed on a thick black rope.

That one.

She took down the rope and walked back to Jack.

Jack knelt on the floor, looking up at her, his eyes full of excitement and anticipation.

"Tie me up," he said, his voice trembling slightly.

Evelyn said nothing. She crouched down and wound the rope around his wrists. She tied it slowly, making a dead knot to ensure Jack couldn't break free.

She stood up and stepped back two paces.

Jack remained kneeling, looking up at her eagerly. "What's next? What do we do next?"

Evelyn looked at him. That eager expression made her stomach churn again.

She let out a cold laugh.

"You didn't actually think," she said slowly, "that I was going to play some kinky game with you, did you?"

Jack's smile froze on his face.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"I mean," Evelyn's voice dripped with mockery, "how could I possibly do that kind of thing with a disgusting man like you?"

Jack's expression darkened. "You played me?"

"Hand over your phone," Evelyn ignored his question. "Now!"

"Matthew already knows," Evelyn stared at him. "If you don't let me go, can you handle the consequences?"

Jack paused for a second, then laughed. "You think that scares me?"

He looked at her, his gaze holding not fear but something that made Evelyn's skin crawl.

"I'm not some coward," he said, enunciating each word.

Evelyn stopped wasting words. She grabbed a towel nearby, crouched down, and stuffed it into his mouth.

Jack struggled with muffled sounds, but with his hands tied, he couldn't move.

Evelyn stood up and began searching the room. His clothes, the nightstand, drawers—there was no phone anywhere.

Her heart sank. Now she couldn't contact anyone.

She ran to the window and pushed it open, looking down. It was pitch black outside, but she could tell it was high up. Jumping would kill her or leave her crippled.

What now?

She bit her lip, her mind racing.

Suddenly there was a noise behind her. She whipped around to find Jack standing not far away. The rope on his wrists was already untied.

He looked at her, eyes full of rage, advancing toward her.

Evelyn stepped back until her back hit the window.

"Jack," she forced herself to stay calm, "do you really want to do this?"

Jack walked toward her step by step.

"If you touch me, Matthew won't let you go."

Jack laughed coldly. The sound echoed in the empty room, sending chills down her spine.

"I'm done wasting time with you," he said. "And let me tell you something—I'm just as good as him. You have no idea what the Quinn family's position is in this world."

Evelyn's hand tightened around the razor blade in her robe pocket. The blade was small. She had to make it count.

She took a deep breath and put on a frightened expression.

"I was wrong," she said, softening her voice. "I shouldn't have played with you like that."

Jack's steps faltered.

"Can you... can you be gentle with me?"

Jack froze. He looked at the woman before him. She was huddled by the window, bathrobe wrapped around her body, a cowering expression on her face.

The feeling of her begging him for mercy... it was intoxicating.

He calmed himself, making his expression less savage.

"As long as you behave," he said softly, taking another step toward her, "I'll treat you well. And I'll show you what real pleasure feels like."

Evelyn nodded obediently. She kept her eyes lowered, watching his feet, gripping the blade tightly.

One step, two steps, three steps—now!

She suddenly raised her hand and slashed at him with all her strength.

"Ahhh!!" Jack let out a horrific scream.

He clutched his groin and crumpled to the floor, his whole body shaking with pain. Blood seeped through his fingers, dripping onto the floor drop by drop.

Evelyn leaned against the window, gasping for breath.

Someone pounded on the door.

"Mr. Jack? Mr. Jack, what's wrong?!"

Jack was in too much pain to speak. He curled up on the floor, convulsing.

The pounding outside grew more urgent.

Jack finally caught his breath and struggled to his feet. His eyes were red as he looked at Evelyn, advancing toward her step by step.

That look in his eyes—like he wanted to murder her.

Evelyn tried to run, but he grabbed her in one motion. He seized her by the throat, lifted her entire body, and slammed her against the wall.

"You're going to die!"

His hand tightened.

Evelyn felt the air being slowly squeezed from her lungs. She struggled, kicking at him, clawing at him, but he was too strong. Her strength meant nothing against his.

Evelyn's breathing grew more and more labored. Her face flushed red, then turned pale. Her vision began to darken.

Was she going to die? Was she really... going to die?

Images flashed through her mind.

When Matthew found her, would there only be a corpse left?

The baby in her belly—she hadn't told Matthew yet. He'd said he wanted a child. If she'd told him earlier, would things be different?

Her vision grew darker and darker.

Just as Evelyn's consciousness was about to fade completely, the door crashed open with a bang.

Through her blurry vision, a group of people rushed in. The figure leading them was so familiar it made her want to cry.

Matthew.

He'd really come. He'd come to save her.

Her lips moved, trying to say his name, but no sound came out.

She closed her eyes and her hand fell limply.
