Chapter 181 Give Her a Little More Time

"Hey, did you hear? Mr. Thorne and Lena are getting married. I can't believe they're tying the knot so soon!"

"Really? Is this reliable? Don't tell me it's just some rumor!"

"What's wrong with rumors? The media already broke the story! And who else could be the Thorne Group heir? Mr. Alfonso Thorne got kicked out, so it's definitely going to be Mr. Killian Thorne!"

The company was buzzing with gossip. When Lena found out, she immediately realized someone was deliberately leaking false information to gauge reactions.

She sat in her chair feeling upset, her face looking troubled.

"Lena," Killian pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing her bad mood, he guessed the reason. "I've already contacted the relevant media outlets and asked them to cancel the reports."

Although he acted quickly and handled things well, public opinion had already been brewing and was getting out of control.

"Canceling the reports won't stop people from talking," Lena said slowly, rubbing her temples. "Someone deliberately leaked this news. I don't know what they're trying to do, but I won't just let it go."

Since they wanted to play it this way, she wouldn't go easy on them either. She decided to hold a press conference and clarify things in her personal capacity.

"There's been some news about me lately, but it's all unfounded speculation. Right now, I'm only focused on work and family. I don't accept any unconfirmed arrangements, so everyone can stop paying attention to this."

Lena faced the cameras calmly, showing no sign of fear.

The reporters couldn't wait to ask, "Miss Voss, are you saying your relationship with Mr. Thorne is completely made up? Are you two really dating? There are rumors that you have children together. Is that true?"

"Miss Voss, why would you refuse Mr. Killian Thorne's proposal? Is there someone else in your heart? Does this whole thing have anything to do with Mr. Alfonso Thorne, who left the Thorne Group?"

"Miss Voss, what made you make this decision? Are you waiting to see how things develop, or do you have other plans?"

Sharp questions came at Lena one after another, but she didn't get angry. Instead, she answered calmly, "I didn't realize everyone was so interested in my love life, but I'm sorry, this is my private matter."

"Whatever happens between Killian and me in the future is between the two of us. We have no obligation to report to outsiders. All I can say is that I take every relationship very seriously and give my whole heart to it."

After speaking, Lena bowed to the cameras and left the scene, leaving behind a group of reporters full of speculation.

Her response neither embarrassed the Thorne family nor gave the rumors more room to grow. Instead, it earned her quite a bit of respect.

"That's Lena for you, handling this matter perfectly without any mistakes."

"Not letting the situation push her around - so admirable. Even though it's Mr. Thorne, she can still stay true to herself and stick to her own thoughts."

Actually, Lena and Killian had talked privately about marriage many times, but she seemed to avoid it each time, not wanting to discuss it in depth.

Killian didn't push too hard either. He knew when to stop, and once Lena was unwilling, he would drop the topic.

After seeing Lena's clarification, Noah couldn't contain his frustration anymore and immediately called to have Killian bring Lena back to the Thorne Manor.

Killian didn't obediently follow orders. Instead, he went back to the Thorne Manor alone to calm him down.

"Where's Lena?" When Noah saw him arrive alone without any sign of Lena, he said angrily, "Why didn't she come back with you?"

"Lena has a lot of work to handle," Killian immediately defended her. "Besides, I can explain this matter to you on her behalf."

"Explain what?"

Noah slapped his thigh angrily and glared at him. "Marriage is obviously a good thing. Why won't Lena agree? Now everyone outside is laughing at the Thorne family, thinking there's something wrong with us!"

Killian sat down with a resigned smile and handed Noah the hot coffee on the table. "Grandpa, marriage is our private matter to begin with. Lena has her own considerations, and I don't want to force her."

"Lena didn't do it on purpose. There really are some issues between us."

Killian patiently persuaded him, "Think about it - she raised the children all by herself without relying on the Thorne family at all. What right do I have to boss her around and force her to marry me?"

"Besides, the more noise there is outside, the more pressure she feels. I don't want her to bear all that, so Grandpa, please give Lena a little more time."

Noah wasn't really angry at Lena to begin with. He was just irritated by those gossiping media outlets. Hearing Killian say this, he gradually calmed down.

"You're right," he couldn't help but sigh. "Lena raised the children very well. These years have been hard for her. I was too impulsive, always thinking that having you two get married was the best choice, without considering her feelings."

"Let her take her time to think," Noah patted Killian's hand and said seriously. "Don't rush. After all, this is a major life decision - can't afford to have regrets."

Killian nodded with a smile. "I'll tell her what you said."

He managed to calm Noah down and cleared some obstacles for Lena.

After handling everything, Killian returned to the office. Lena had just finished working overtime and was about to go home.

"Done with work?"

Killian walked up with a smile, and Lena smiled back, asking perceptively, "Yes. Did Grandpa call you?"

"You already know?"

Killian smiled helplessly. "No choice - it made the news. How could Grandpa not know?"

Even if he hadn't seen it, someone would have found a way to make sure he knew.

Lena smiled and took his arm. "Well, thank you for calming Grandpa down for me."

She knew Noah's temper well - he wasn't easy to deal with.

"It wasn't your fault to begin with," Killian said softly. "I should be the one to explain things clearly to Grandpa."

Their relationship had too many people involved, making it more and more complicated. He still hoped they could keep things simple and make choices based on what they really wanted.

His words warmed Lena's heart. She could feel Killian changing, moving little by little in a good direction.

She nodded with a smile. "Let's go home."
