Jacob didn’t answer, and after confirming Willie had left, he weaved through the crowd.
Not far away, Andrea hadn’t seen Geoffrey and wanted to go find him.
But at that moment, a small figure darted in and hugged her tightly.
“Auntie, you’re the big star on TV, right?”
Andrea looked down at the little kid clinging to her legs, a flicker of impatience flashing in her eyes that she quickly masked.
She bent down with a bright smile. “That’s me.”
“Sweetie, why are you all alone here? Where are your mom and dad?”
She studied the child closely–his delicate features sharply defined, those eyes especially mesmerizing.
One glance told her his parents were no ordinary people.
Jacob’s luminous eyes fixed on her as he declared solemnly, “I heard people say you stole my daddy away, auntie. Can you give him back to me?”
Andrea froze mid–step.
Nearby society matrons glanced over, their stares dripping with contempt.

Women like them despised nothing more than social–climbing
actresses.
“How shameless!”
“She’s already got Mr. Sutton, yet she’s chasing other men?”
“No wonder Mr. Sutton never married her. Women like her are only good for fun.”
Andrea’s composure shattered.
Gritting her teeth, she crouched to eye–level with Jacob. “Sweetie, you must be confused?”
“I don’t know you,” she stated coldly, “and I certainly don’t know your
father.”
Andrea finished speaking, then leaned close to Jacob, placing both hands on his shoulders as she threatened in a low voice: “You little brat, if you dare spout nonsense again, I’ll feed you to the sharks!”
She thought she was dealing with an ordinary kid, never expecting Jacob could flip that switch so fast.
The next second, he started slapping at her hands, voice cracking with tears: “Miss, I’m sorry! Stop pinching me!
It hurts… Wahhh…”
Andrea hastily pulled her hands away.
“When did I pinch you?”

Nearby reporters quickly captured the scene.
Jacob’s tears streamed down: “Miss, I’m sorry I bumped into you. Don’t hit me… don’t throw me to the sharks…”
Andrea desperately wanted to muzzle that mouth.
“I didn’t… He’s lying…” Andrea stammered in panic.
More and more people turned to watch.
It also caught Sean’s attention while he was being introduced to
women.
Sean instantly recognized the kid as the little brat who’d pranked him at the Banquet Hall.
His date spoke up: “How could anyone lay hands on a child?”
“That woman is pure evil.”
It struck Sean that this kid might be a product of his wilder days.
He couldn’t just watch him get hurt. His long legs carried him over in a few strides.
Jacob was about to keep up his act to expose Andrea’s ugly face in tomorrow’s headlines when he spotted a furious figure charging
toward him.
Why was that bastard Sean here too?
Miscalculation!

He was too small, too short, and the crowd was too thick for him to have noticed Sean earlier.
“Auntie, don’t be mad, I’m leaving now.”
He bolted the moment the words left his mouth.
Had Sean not been played by him before, he’d have thought the kid was just leaving. But those little legs pumping like pistons told him Jacob had spotted him.
Remembering the Banquet Hall humiliation and the news reports that followed? No way Sean would let him off.
Even if the brat was his own son!
Needed to teach the little punk some respect for his elders!
Jacob knew to dive into the thickest crowds.
Sean couldn’t easily weave through the masses after him.
But dealing with a kid? He had plenty of tricks. He summoned his bodyguards.
“See that boy?”
Sean paused: “Let him run. Grab him in an hour.”
“Yes,”
Sean decided to let the little rascal tire himself out first.

Meanwhile, Geoffrey and Maureen arrived at the banquet separately.
Maureen didn’t want to draw attention from the Sutton family, deliberately waiting until after Geoffrey entered before slipping in.
Geoffrey saw right through her little act but stayed silent.
After weathering a minor scandal, Andrea had finally bribed the reporters on the scene.
Spotting Geoffrey, she instantly brightened up and approached: “Geoffrey, the party’s started! Everyone’s toasting the old man–what took you so long?
I’ve been waiting forever.”
Geoffrey had zero interest in explaining his whereabouts.
He replied flatly: “Then stop waiting.”
Andrea choked back her retort.
When she noticed Maureen entering behind him, realization dawned.
Her fists clenched involuntarily.
Geoffrey’s arrival instantly pulled every gaze in the room toward him. Most guests seized the chance to cozy up to the Sutton family’s

Heather beamed with pride.
Geoffrey first approached the silver–haired patriarch at the head table- cane in hand but eyes sharp as ever–to offer his birthday wishes.
