Chapter61
“If you don’t want them finding out you’re back, get the hell abroad!”
“A stray dog should stay outside forever, never return, understand?
!”
Maureen spoke calmly: “You think you’re so great?
Which step of your success was truly your own doing?”
“If not for the Ramirez Family, would you even be alive?”
“If not for Geoffrey, could you have become an A–list actress?”
Leaning close to Andrea’s ear, Maureen lowered her voice and mocked: “Don’t think I don’t know what you got up to overseas after graduation.”
“Tell me, if Geoffrey and the Sutton Family found out, would they still accept you?”
Long before returning, Maureen had been thoroughly prepared.
To secure what she wanted, she’d specifically investigated Andrea.
The investigation revealed how eventful those years abroad had been for the pure goddess image Andrea cultivated.
Andrea’s eyes widened in shock.

She thought she’d buried it all perfectly.
“You never lost your memory! I’ll tell Geoffrey!”
Maureen remained unfazed: “Oh really?
Then how about I make sure Geoffrey sees those videos tomorrow?”
Andrea choked back her words.
She never expected Maureen to become so sharp–tongued since returning.
“Maureen, what will it take for you to let me be with Geoffrey?”
Andrea softened her voice, playing the sympathy card. “Besides Geoffrey, have I ever wronged you?”
“Even if I beg you, set James free, and let yourself go too.”
Tears welled in Andrea’s eyes.
“Did you ever let me go back then?”
Maureen turned away, unwilling to look at this hypocrite any longer.
After Maureen left, the tears vanished instantly from Andrea’s eyes, replaced by pure terror.
She feared Maureen would tell Geoffrey about her overseas activities.
If Geoffrey found out, she’d be done for.
No!

Absolutely not!
Maureen, you’ve forced my hand on this!
The next day.
Maureen was awakened by Katherine’s phone call.
“Reenie, did you sell your song to Andrea?”
Maureen sounded puzzled. “Entertainment Agency approached me earlier when Andrea was signed with them.”
“They wanted to buy my composition rights, but I refused.”
Katherine’s voice turned exasperated. “Reenie, have you seen the news about Andrea’s new song release?
That track ‘Beacon of Hope‘ – she stole your melody!”
Hearing this, Maureen opened her laptop and found Andrea’s newly released song ‘Beacon of Hope‘.
Yesterday it felt familiar, but she hadn’t listened closely. Now playing it again,
she recognized the melody she’d casually composed years ago.
Reenie, I still remember your song was called “A Beam of Light“. She even copied the title almost word for word.
Katherine snorted contemptuously.
She remembered this tune clearly because she genuinely loved it.

“I recall posting it on a niche platform back then and just left it there,”
Maureen said.
“When Andrea couldn’t buy it, she resorted to stealing. How cunning!”
Katherine exclaimed while searching for evidence on her computer.
“Reenie, did you know?
Some songs Andrea sang before were bought, others were stolen too.”
“Yeah, I knew.”
Maureen seethed: “But I never imagined she’d plagiarize my work.”
This wasn’t accidental. Andrea had specifically targeted Ms. Shi, that overseas composer, having people dig up her decades–old
compositions to rearrange.
“The ridiculous part? That single song made her famous overnight.”
Katherine wished she could leap in front of Andrea to see how shameless she was. “I’ll have my lawyer send her a cease–and–desist immediately!”
“Hold on.”
Maureen stopped her. “Suing her outright won’t work.”
“Why?”
Katherine sounded puzzled.

“I never copyrighted this piece. Plus, she made subtle adaptations. It’d be hard to prove plagiarism in court.”
“And don’t forget Geoffrey backing her. He’d never let her lose a lawsuit.”
Over the years, Andrea had faced multiple lawsuits for her brazen actions, yet all plaintiffs lost their cases. Sutton Group’s entire legal team served Andrea exclusively.
Besides, Maureen’s case would cross international borders–tough to win.
“So we just let her get away with it?”
Maureen stepped onto the balcony, gazing at the boundless view. Her crimson lips parted: “Not letting her off!
We wait till we have irrefutable evidence. Preferably a deadly blow.”
She wasn’t one to suffer in silence.
But recklessness wasn’t her style either.
Katherine sighed. “Alright, I’ll start gathering evidence.”
“Thanks. Sorry to add to your workload.”
“Don’t worry! I haven’t sued anyone in ages,”
Katherine forced a smile. She knew this theft hurt Maureen most- having your life’s work stolen.
After Katherine hung up, Jacob knocked softly: “Aunt Katherine? Did

someone steal Mommy’s music?”
Katherine didn’t expect Jacob to wake up so early, and she didn’t hide it from him.
“Well, it’s that shameless top actress Andrea!”
“She’s a seductress, a mistress, she ruined your Mommy and…”
Katherine got more and more excited, almost blurting out that Geoffrey is Jacob’s father.
Before she could finish, Jacob interrupted her.
“Aunt Katherine, Mommy said we can’t say bad words, and I’m still a kid, I don’t know what a mistress is…”
