Maureen was stunned for a second. She couldn’t decide whether to nod or refuse, and felt too awkward to do either.
“It’s okay, I’m used to it…”
Before she could finish, Geoffrey pulled her into his arms. “Some things and people, you can’t indulge.”
Her face pressed against his chest, she could clearly hear his heartbeat.
Her breath hitched slightly, but she didn’t push Geoffrey away.
“I’m really fine.”
Geoffrey, pleased that she didn’t reject him, leaned down to kiss her.
But before the kiss could land, Ethan’s untimely voice came from the second floor.
“Alex, Mommy, what are you doing?”
Maureen and Geoffrey immediately pulled apart, both looking awkward.
“Ethan, why’d you come out?”
Maureen’s face burned.
Ethan was no naive child–he knew that scumbag dad was trying to hit on Mom again.
If Mom got fooled by him once more…
Ethan walked downstairs. “It’s boring upstairs. Uncle Geoffrey, wanna play outside with me?”
“But it’s so late…” Maureen hadn’t finished speaking when Geoffrey cut in, “Fine.”
As a man, how could he not sense Ethan’s hostility?
Geoffrey couldn’t stand the little brat, but he was Maureen’s flesh and blood. Keeping Maureen meant keeping him.
Otherwise, he’d have tossed both kids into the river as fish food long ago.

What she didn’t know: the moment they stepped outside, Ethan bent down, scooped snow into a ball, and hurled it at Geoffrey’s back.
Geoffrey halted mid–step, icy eyes locking onto him.
Ethan froze under that gaze, heart nearly jumping out of his chest–did he actually see that?
“Uncle Geoffrey… snowball fight?”
He admitted it–right now, he was scared.
“I can’t see, how can I play snowball fight with you?”
Geoffrey knew this kid had no good intentions.
Sure enough, the offspring of another man is just no good.
Reenie and his own child would never be as annoying as this little brat.
Ethan, playing the child card, whined: “No, I want to play snowball fight with you, boo hoo, won’t even play with me, why do you live in my
house?”
Ethan thought if you could see, why would I play snowball fight with you? I’m not stupid, of course I’ll take advantage of your blindness to play with you.
“First, let’s agree, the loser can’t cry.”
Geoffrey said.
Ethan wiped his fake tears: “A gentleman’s word is as good as his bond.”
After that, he bent down to make a snowball; today he was going to make the scumbag dad question his life.
What a pity…
Half an hour later.
Ethan’s clothes were soaked, snow was in his hair, and Geoffrey lifted him with one hand and tossed him into the bathroom.
Almost no snow could be seen on Geoffrey’s body.
If he weren’t afraid Ethan couldn’t handle it physically, he wouldn’t have let him off.

Though he couldn’t see, his hearing was sharp, as long as Ethan made a sound, he knew.
Ethan still wanted to fake ery and act spoiled, but Geoffrey turned on his phone recorder, captured what he’d said, so he could only purse his lips tightly and stay silent.
“Weren’t you just out for a walk?
It’s not even snowing outside, so how come your clothes are soaked and there’s snow all over your hair?”
Maureen puzzled.
Ethan flushed with embarrassment. “I took a tumble.”
“Did you fall because you’re feeling unwell?
Let’s get you to the hospital now, shall we?”
Maureen instantly tensed.
Ethan shook his head. “I’m fine, really. Let me shower and change. You should head out now.”
He actually felt alright today–otherwise he wouldn’t have suggested that snowball fight with Geoffrey.
Maureen let herself be nudged out, charmed by his flustered expression.
Outside, Zoe asked, “Is the child alright?”
“He’s fine.”
Geoffrey replied.
He’d held back during their play.
Zoe nearly revealed that both children were biologically his, but decided to test his sincerity first.
Instead, she warned: “Ethan may not be as sharp as Jacob, but he’s always been a sensitive soul. Don’t you dare hurt him.”
Ethan inherited some traits from Maureen. Zoe worried Geoffrey might mistreat him and gave a reminder.
“Mm, don’t worry.”
Geoffrey spoke; he wouldn’t bully a child.

Chapter321
In the bathroom, Ethan pondered how to stop Mom from seeing that jerk while showering.
Finally, he decided to take the initiative.
At bedtime, he tightly held Maureen’s hand.
“Mommy, sleep with me tonight?”
Seeing Ethan who’d been shy during bath time, Maureen agreed instantly: “Okay.”
Ethan got what he wanted and happily lay on the bed.
After the lights went out,
he hugged Maureen and asked: “Mommy, where’s Uncle Gareth?”
Maureen was puzzled too. She hadn’t seen Gareth since their last meal together.
“Not sure. Probably busy with work.”
