Chapter307
Sean looked at her panicked face without a trace of sympathy, his expression cold: “Andrea, even now, you still want to use me?”
“The one I vowed to protect was never you–it’s Maureen!”
Andrea sobbed at his icy tone. “But we’ve been through so much together… We’re still friends, aren’t we?”
“Someone like you? Worthy of being my friend?”
Sean gave a derisive snort. Had it not been their shared history, Andrea wouldn’t have survived this long.
Ultimately, his own mercy had been the problem.
Hearing Sean’s finality, Andrea realized he was her captor.
After all, Geoffrey was blind now–long past caring about her.
“What will
you do with me here?
I’ve admitted my mistakes.”
“Admitting means nothing. Lunatics belong in mental hospitals, not bothering others.”
Sean turned to leave.
Andrea frantically clung to him, rising to kiss him.
“Sean, I know you’ve always wanted me… Let’s be together…”
Before her lips touched his, Sean shoved her away.
“Disgusting.”
At the doorway, he ordered his men: “Make Ms. Rowe understand her place.”
After Sean left, Andrea’s screams filled the room.
No one knew how much time had passed before those men finally departed, leaving Andrea covered in wounds and lying in a pool of blood, her eyes hollow.

She couldn’t accept it–why did Maureen get all the good things? Why couldn’t she take her place, claim a little credit for herself?
Too badly injured to move, Andrea could only lie helplessly on the floor.
Sean’s men hadn’t finished her off, deliberately leaving her to suffer.
The entire day passed in torment.
Just as she was about to lose consciousness, the door creaked open again.
Andrea instinctively begged: “Sorry… sorry… I was wrong…”
A man in gleaming leather shoes stepped steadily toward her.
Scrambling up, Andrea began to kneel–and–beg without daring to look: “Sean, I’ll never dare again, I’ll kneel–and–beg to you-”
“Andrea, it’s me.”
The voice sounded familiar.
Andrea froze, lifting her head: “Geoffrey, weren’t you-” Before she could utter “blind,” he spoke.
“I’m Alex, not Geoffrey. We met last time.”
Back then, she’d mistaken him for Geoffrey.
Only now did Andrea notice this man carried an aura entirely different from Geoffrey’s.
“So you’re Geoffrey’s twin brother?”
“Yeah.”

“What do you want from me?”
Andrea feared Alex had come to lecture her on Maureen’s behalf too.
“How about we make a deal?”
Alex’s voice remained gentle.
Yet Andrea instinctively shivered, sensing something hidden beneath his calm expression.
“What kind of deal?”

After Sean had her thrown into this place, she figured nothing could be worse.
“You help me get Maureen away from Geoffrey, and I’ll get you out.”
Alex laid his cards on the table.
Though confused by his proposal, Andrea immediately agreed at the promise of freedom.
“Deal! I’ll make Maureen leave Geoffrey. Please get me out.”
No sooner had she spoken than guards escorted her from the asylum.
As Alex departed, his men asked, “What should we tell Sean if he inquires?”
Alex glanced back at the asylum, his tone indifferent.
“Burn it down. Then we won’t need explanations.”
His men froze, stunned that such words came from his composed face.
“Yes, sir.”
They dared not disobey.
That night, news broke about the asylum fire. Reports confirmed three casualties.
Sean never expected Andrea would be the only one who died!
He felt a surge of irritation that her death had come so easily.
The Sutton Family estate.
Maureen was helping arrange flowers for the Engagement Party when Heather approached, probing:
“You said earlier the baby isn’t Geoff’s. So it must be Gareth’s, right?”

Maureen frowned slightly, but before she could respond, Heather pressed: “Gareth just watched you–pregnant–move in with Geoff, follow him back here… not worried at all?”
Maureen recognized the trap but sidestepped it.
“If you doubt this child isn’t Geofl’s, we can do a paternity test after the birth.”
Heather’s certainty wavered at Maureen’s willingness for testing.

She snipped a bright red rose, coldly stating: “If it’s not Geoff’s child, I won’t allow it into the Sutton family.”
“Don’t worry, my child won’t step into the Sutton Family. If you could persuade Geoffrey to divorce me quickly, I’d be very grateful.”
Maureen replied with a smile.
Heather was silenced again, her face flushing then paling.
“Don’t worry! Once Geoff regains his memory, he’ll divorce you without any persuasion!”
Heather had meant to probe about Jacob, but now lost all interest.
She dropped what she was doing and stormed off.
Seeing Heather leave with a sour look at Maureen, Elizabeth approached with fake concern: “You okay?”
She wanted both to learn about her future mother-in–law and project a kind image to others.
“I’m fine.”
To her surprise, Maureen answered with just two words.
Elizabeth pressed on, unwilling to quit: “Is Aunt hard to get along with?”
