Chapter 290
“Were you okay at home today?”
Geoffrey asked tentatively.
Perhaps because she had no one to talk to, Maureen thought that since Geoffrey had lost his memory anyway, she told him that Adrian had said Noelle had been with another man a long time
ago.
Maureen didn’t mention Alex, because to her, Alex was a misunderstanding, long in the past.
“I’ll ask Wayne to look into it.

Geoffrey responded immediately.
Maureen shook her head: “Don’t. You’re not his boss anymore. Stop bothering him.”
“I’ve already asked Justin to investigate. Gareth said Justin used to be an agent, great at this stuff.”
Justin again…
Geoffrey had almost forgotten that capable, handsome bodyguard.
“If Justin finds nothing, I’ll ask Gareth for help.”
Maureen continued.
She didn’t notice the man beside her growing jealous.
Mentioning Gareth, Maureen found it odd she hadn’t heard from him lately.
Geoffrey tightened his grip on her hand: “Why not ask me?”
Maureen froze, looking up at his stern face: “But you’re blind and have amnesia now, right?”
Geoffrey regretted digging his own grave.
He stopped, leaning close to Maureen.
“But this makes me jealous.”
Warm breath brushed her face as Maureen awkwardly glanced away: “Nonsense. They’re just

friends.”
Geoffrey’s lips curved up, his voice deep: “What about me?
What are we?”
Before Maureen answered, his fingers rested on her lips.
“We’re married. I want you to tell me everything so I can help.”
They stood close, and Maureen could clearly see Geoffrey’s face.

She had to admit that no matter how much time passed, and regardless of Geoffrey’s blindness, he was incredibly handsome.
She took a deep breath, her voice trembling: “I’ve said it many times, I’m only with you temporarily. Once you regain your memory, we’ll still get divorced.”
After speaking, Maureen immediately pulled her hand back and hurried to her room.
Today, Katherine had borrowed Jacob, claiming her father arranged another blind date and she’d use the kid to sabotage it.
Once Maureen left, Geoffrey had Wayne investigate everything about Noelle.
Evening.
Lying in bed, Maureen couldn’t sleep thinking about Adrian’s words.
Tossing restlessly, she finally decided to get up.
Going downstairs to the living room, she instantly spotted the lit lamp. Geoffrey was still awake, typing on his keyboard from the sofa.
Hearing footsteps, he looked toward Maureen: “Why are you up?”
Sometimes Maureen truly doubted his blindness.
“Couldn’t sleep.”
“Come here.”
Geoffrey said.
Puzzled, Maureen approached: “What’s wrong?”

Geoffrey shut down his laptop and reached out, pulling Maureen into his embrace.
“I can’t sleep either. How about we do something fun?”
He’d been pent up for months.
Now that the baby was almost three months and stable.
Maureen’s face flushed instantly. “No.”

She tried to wriggle out of his arms, but Geoffrey stood up, scooping her into his arms as he headed toward his room.
“What are you doing?”
“Don’t wake the elders. We can talk in my room.
His heart raced as he gently laid Maureen on the bed before climbing in beside her, wrapping her close.
Lying there, Maureen realized how narrow his bed was.
They had to press together tightly to avoid tumbling off.
“Nothing to talk about. I’m going ba- Mm…”
His kiss descended, swallowing her protest.
Maureen writhed, trying to escape, but Geoffrey pinned her firmly against his chest. His kiss was ferocious and domineering.
Maureen’s breath hitched, grateful the kiss ended quickly.
Geoffrey’s fingers brushed her burning cheek before withdrawing, his voice hushed: “Scared you?”
Maureen turned away, struggling to escape his embrace, only to be hauled back against him.
“You’re pregnant. Don’t struggle.”
“Knowing I’m pregnant, why do this?”
Maureen snapped.
“We’re married. Kissing’s normal.”

Geoffrey enunciated each word.
Maureen yanked the blanket over herself, silencing her protests.
Geoffrey disliked this stillness.
“Talk to me. Please?”
He didn’t recognize his own pleading tone.
“Nothing to say. Let me go to my room.
Maureen’s voice turned icy.

Geoffrey ignored her, tightening his hold.
He’d stick around now, shielding her from certain people.
“Lately… vague childhood memories resurfaced.”
Maureen lifted puzzled eyes as he continued: “Our first meeting–you’d fallen while being bullied, knees scraped raw.‘
Maureen froze.

Truthfully, she still couldn’t tell when she’d met Geoffrey versus Alex as children.
In her memory, the first time she saw Geoffrey was when she followed the butler back to the Ramirez family home.
Back then, the two families were still neighbors. Geoffrey stood outside the yard wearing a white
shirt.
Looking back now, the first person she actually met was Alex.
“And then?”
Maureen asked again.
“Then you called me Brother Geoff. Thinking back now, I still don’t know how you recognized
me.”
Geoffrey brought up the past precisely to make Maureen understand who he truly was.
He refused to be Alex’s replacement.
