As she hung up. Geoffrey spoke: “You endured humiliation today for

my sake.”
Truthfully, she hadn’t felt humiliated at all–perhaps because she no longer cared.
Back in the Sutton family, her pain came from Geoffrey, her husband, who watched her suffer despite having power to stop it.
Now, that old resentment was gone.
“It’s fine. I volunteered to come.”
She added quickly: “Don’t overthink it. I came because I don’t want to see you bullied over your eyesight.”
“After all, your injury happened when you shielded me.”
Maureen finished speaking and went to make the bed: “I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight.”
Geoffrey frowned slightly: “You’re pregnant, you take the bed.”
Maureen hadn’t expected him to be so gentlemanly now. Thinking of her pregnancy making it inconvenient, she agreed.
After washing up, Maureen lay on the large bed, which still carried a faint, fresh scent.
Geoffrey slept on the sofa not far away, his long legs somewhat awkwardly placed.
Maureen turned off the light, but sleep didn’t come easily.
Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Alex’s warm face.
Though she had many doubts in her heart, she didn’t know if she should ask.
She didn’t know how long it took before Maureen finally fell asleep.
Outside, the wind howled. Maureen hadn’t slept long when she was suddenly jolted awake by a nightmare.
“Geoffrey.”

She called out instinctively.
Soon, a large hand grasped hers.
Geoffrey had somehow come to the bedside: “What’s wrong?”

Maureen’s heart raced. Images from her dream of everyone bullying her kept flashing in her mind, and she took a deep breath.
“It’s nothing, just a nightmare.”
Hearing this, without a word, Geoffrey pulled back the covers, got into bed, and pulled Maureen into his arms.
Maureen froze, about to refuse, when she heard him say in a low voice: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
Maureen inexplicably felt at ease hearing his words and didn’t protest as he held her.
After a long while, she couldn’t help asking, “Geoffrey, do you really only remember me?”
His heart skipped a beat before he nodded. “Mhm.”
With his confirmation, she pressed further, “Do you truly love me?”
“Yes.”
The answer came without hesitation.
The Geoffrey before amnesia would never admit loving Maureen.
Resting against his chest, a conviction grew stronger within her–to embrace their present reality.
After all, the doctor said his memories were unlikely to return. Couldn’t they just continue like this?
“But
you never cared for me before. If your memories return, would you…”
Her voice trailed off.
Sensing her vulnerability, he tightened his embrace.
“Never. I love you. With or without my memories, that won’t change.”
Maureen clutched his shirt, silent for a moment before whispering, “What if I stop loving you?”

She wanted to try–for their two children, and the one on the way.
Heys
Geoffrey stiffened slightly. Cupping her cheek, his Adam’s apple bobbed “Nonsense. How could you not love me?”
In Geoffrey’s memories now, it was all about how much Maureen loved him
His thin lips lightly touched the woman’s cheek, feeling her whole body burning hot, he smirked and held her tight with delight: “If you stop loving me, I’ll make you love me again.”
If you love someone else, I’ll kill that person.
Maureen had no clue what was on Geoffrey’s mind; she just felt he’d truly changed, like Zoe said- if this kept up, they could really be together.
While she was lost in thought, Geoffrey couldn’t hold back; his thin lips brushed her forehead, nose bridge, lips, slowly moving down…
When Maureen noticed, her clothes were completely stripped off.
“Geoffrey…”
Geoffrey covered her mouth with his hand, pulled her close again, and froze.
Maureen then realized his clothes were also…
She quickly put her hand between them: “I don’t want to.
Geoffrey finally stopped.
After Maureen fell asleep again, he immediately went to the bathroom and took a cold shower.
Meanwhile.
Ethan was taken to an extravagantly luxurious children’s room by the maid. Heather rushed over right after seeing off the guests.
“Jacob, sorry to keep you waiting. Would you like something to eat?”
Heather approached with eager concern.
Ethan stared at this beautiful, gracefully aged woman knowing she was his wicked mother–in–law. Though he felt nothing but disgust, he chirped: “Granny Gu, I missed you so much! Why did you take so long?”
He scrambled up and hugged her leg, wiping his runny nose on her clothes.

Heather froze–Jacob had never clung to her like this before.
“My apologies, dear. Granny shouldn’t have left you alone here.”
“You’ve no idea how desperately I wanted to fly straight here when I heard you’d arrived.”
Ethan hid his astonishment.
Unbelievable… Brother actually charms this old hag?
“Really?”
He looked up pitifully.
“Absolutely.”
