Chapter260
“What outstanding man?”
Both clammed up under her questioning gaze.
Yet beneath Maureen’s stern expression, they soon spilled everything.
Maureen finally learned Jake had gone to Chaster Club–a haunt for rich playboys where Sean often lingered.
“Probably Sean spotted Jake at Chaster Club and stole the deal,” Maureen analyzed calmly.
Her expression then hardened: “Jake, Kathy, how could you go behind my back like this?
What if you’d found some fraud?”
Katherine and Jake just listened silently, not daring to make a sound.
Maureen could be quite terrifying when angered.
Katherine felt deeply touched as she recalled standing up for herself and confronting Kimberly that day.
She hugged Maureen around the waist: “Reenie, what would I do without you?”
Maureen had originally planned to lecture both of them, but that hug instantly melted her resolve to scold her.
“Silly.”
Friends help each other through thick and thin–she knew Katherine would stand up for her too if trouble came.
Seeing this, Jacob immediately looked up, quick to follow suit: “Mommy, I can’t live without you either. I’ll listen to you from now on.”
Maureen’s heart softened completely, and she couldn’t bring herself to criticize either of them.
Jacob silently resolved to learn how to act cute and coquettish from Ethan.
That night, Maureen and Jacob stayed at Katherine’s house.

Heather sent wedding congratulations to Tyler while learning about the scandal at his ceremony.
“You’re saying Katherine brought Jacob?
And claimed he’s Sean’s son?”
Heather distinctly remembered Sean telling her it was a mistake–the child wasn’t his.
So she’d assumed Jacob was Tyler and Katherine’s son.
But that made no sense either–if he were Sean or Tyler’s son, why would his surname be Xia…
The secretary added: “Ms. Ramirez was there too–she even slapped Tyler’s mother.”
The “Ms. Ramirez” mentioned by the secretary naturally referred to Maureen.
“Maureen?”
Heather’s mind raced with speculations as she looked at the secretary, but it never occurred to her that Jacob could be Maureen’s son.
“Could Jacob’s father be one of Maureen’s relatives?”
The secretary found this plausible: “I heard Maureen’s mother and brother recently returned to Karaville.”
Heather’s face instantly darkened at the mention of Noelle’s return.
“Are they trying to become parasitic on our Sutton family again?”
The secretary informed her that Noelle had married a wealthy businessman surnamed Yin overseas and no longer lacked money.
Heather’s disdain for Noelle only grew–a woman who relied entirely on men to survive.
Once the topic drifted, Heather forgot about Jacob altogether.
“By the way, how is Geoff doing now?”
“The eldest young master hardly ever leaves the house; he stays indoors every day.”
The secretary couldn’t help but pity Geoffrey, who had once stood so proudly atop the world, now reduced to this state.

Heather sighed: “It’s his own fault for not listening to me. If he’d had children earlier, I wouldn’t have had to exile him to that remote place.”
There was another reason too–she feared Geoffrey might expose Alex’s fake identity.
If that happened, there would be no place left for her, Heather, within the Sutton family.
“Isn’t tomorrow the Winter Solstice?
Any new plans at the company?”
Secretary handed the latest event proposals to Heather.
“Mrs. Potter, I noticed Maestro Shi, the renowned international composer, just released a new piece that’s making trending topics. If our Media Division acquires it, this could significantly boost visibility for our artists‘ dramas or singers.”
“Our Media Division’s reputation took quite a hit after the Andrea incident.”
“Alright, proceed with this,” Heather replied while reviewing documents.
“Yes.”
Early next morning, Maureen first dropped Roy off at kindergarten before returning to Small
Town.
The back–and–forth travel exhausted her.
Unexpectedly, assistant Betty brought exciting news: “BOSS, did you know? Corporate Giant wants your composition.”
“The Corporate Giant, not Media Division?”
Media Division was merely a subsidiary under Corporate Giant.
“Correct. Corporate Headquarters wants your new piece.”
“I’ve filled in the contact details. Oh, and remember that mysterious tycoon?”
“The one offering sky–high prices? He’s agreed not to demand exclusive rights.”
“Additionally, Elizabeth has returned from abroad. If you’re considering collaboration with the Thompson family, I can arrange a meeting.”

Betty demonstrated remarkable organization, having already mapped out Maureen’s schedule:
First negotiate with Corporate Giant, then meet the mysterious tycoon, finally confer with Elizabeth.
After all, it’s obvious who has more money.
“No rush, Christmas is still two days away.”
Maureen thought for a moment, “Betty, don’t you think we need to change our approach?”
“Change to what approach?”
Betty was a bit confused.
“I want to release the songs myself, what do you
think?”
Now Maureen had the funds, that eight billion dollars Geoffrey didn’t want.
“Of course, we used to do it just to make money.”
