Chapter247
Maureen remembered his past coldness and pulled away.
“Don’t pretend. We ended long ago. The only reason we’re still living together is your family’s pressure.”
She headed straight to the second floor to prepare a nursery for Roy.
Jacob stayed with Zoe enjoying snacks while keeping a watchful eye.
After Maureen left, he waited until Zoe rested before approaching Geoffrey at work.
Geoffrey’s screen overflowed with dense lines of code. Jacob stole a glance-surprisingly sophisticated. What was this asshole dad scheming?
Was he really blind?
As Jacob raised a hand to test him, Geoffrey suddenly grabbed his collar from behind.
“Understand any of this?”
“Of course I do!”
Jacob snapped back instantly.
Geoffrey raised an eyebrow-a brat who understands coding?
“No need for boasting. I won’t mock you even if you can’t.”
He deliberately prodded.
“Hmph. Look down on people much?”
Jacob snatched the laptop and continued coding.
He realized Geoffrey’s program was a transliteration software-probably designed for his blindness.
Jacob typed rapidly, oblivious to Geoffrey’s subtle shift in expression beside him.

During this time, Geoffrey’s memory gradually returned bit by bit. He recalled that he could program since childhood.
After Jacob wrote a portion, Geoffrey checked it and found no issues at all.
After all, Jacob was still a child and didn’t know how to hide his talent.
“When I reach your age, I’ll definitely surpass you.
Geoffrey didn’t mind: “We’ll talk after you surpass me.

Jacob suddenly had a bad idea: “Let’s compete. If you lose, leave my mommy voluntarily. Deal?”
Geoffrey stopped what he was doing, his handsome eyebrows lifting.
“Then what if I win?”
“Then I’ll let you stay here.”
Geoffrey chuckled: “This bet is too unfair for me. I can stay without competing.”
Jacob hadn’t expected the scumbag dad’s mind to work so fast.
“Then what do you want?”
The scumbag dad was blind. If they competed in programming, he definitely wouldn’t lose.
“If I win, you call me Dad.”
Jacob froze instantly.
How could he call the scumbag dad “Dad”?
As he hesitated, Geoffrey mocked: “Scared?
It’s just one word-Dad.
Afraid to lose?”
“Who says I’m scared? Let’s compete!”
Jacob’s cheeks puffed with anger.
Maureen finished tidying the room and stepped out to find Jacob and Geoffrey sitting in the

living room, each hammering away at a laptop.
Since when did they get so chummy?
“Ste-Steven, bath time.”
Maureen nearly slipped up.
Jacob was right-let Geoffrey misunderstand. Once his memory returned, she’d be gone
anyway.
“Mommy, give me a minute. You rest first.”
Jacob kept his eyes glued to the screen as he spoke.
“Alright.”
Jacob had insisted on bathing alone since he turned three.
An hour later.
Geoffrey broke into Jacob’s laptop.
Jacob slumped on the couch, head hung low, emptiness in his eyes.
“I win.”
Geoffrey declared.
His memories weren’t fully back yet. Otherwise, he’d have recognized Jacob as the brat who’d swiped seven billion from him.
Jacob mumbled into his collar, “…Dad.”
“Speak up. Didn’t catch that.”
Geoffrey pressed.
Jacob lifted his voice: “Dad!”
Geoffrey stood up and ruffled his hair.
“Good boy.”
Maureen noticed Jacob was as deflated as a balloon the next day, completely listless.

When she asked what was wrong, he refused to answer.
“Mommy, just don’t ask. Please take me to school.”
“Okay.”
Maureen drove Jacob to the preschool.
They lived just a few blocks from Community Preschool, so they’d woken up early.
Jacob kept yawning, as if he hadn’t slept all night.
“Jacob, are you still thinking about your dad?”
Maureen meant to ask if he was dwelling on Geoffrey being his biological father, but Jacob misunderstood-he remembered calling Geoffrey “Dad” and instantly got a headache.
That man was pure evil!
Seeing the school gates ahead, Jacob blurted, “Mommy, I’m gonna be late. Talk later.”
Maureen didn’t press further, watching him disappear into the building.
Inside the preschool:
Willie and Richard swarmed Jacob the moment he arrived.
“Jacob, you’re late! Weren’t we supposed to find Aunt Katherine a handsome man today?”
Earlier, Jacob had promised to be Aunt Katherine’s son and find her someone hotter than Tyler to crash the wedding banquet-just to make Tyler furious.
Jacob had investigated Tyler. He wasn’t just handsome-as a top lawyer, he surpassed ordinary
men.
The kindergarten Katherine picked for Jacob was excellent, full of wealthy kids. But their fathers all had wives, disqualifying them as candidates.
Time rewound to a day earlier.
During school, Jacob found a moment to ask Willie beside him if he knew any rich and handsome men.
Willie puffed his chest proudly: “Only our Sutton Family has men like that.’

Richard, Katherine’s nephew, leaned in: “Roy, your dad’s super handsome.”
Jacob shot him a puzzled look.
“My what?”
“That man talking to the principal last time!”
Richard stated matter-of-factly.
