Chapter232
Gareth’s eyes chilled. “Mr. Sutton, I’m Gareth. Reenie and I grew up together. When she wasn’t with you these past years, she lived with me.”
“You should remember clearly… before your amnesia.”
The tension between the two men thickened.
Maureen struggled uselessly against Geoffrey’s hold. Before she could scold him, he fired back at Gareth:
“I remember everyone and everything my wife tells me about.”
Then he lowered his head to murmur to Maureen, “Wife, why didn’t you ever mention having such a male friend?”
The unspoken implication hung heavy: Maureen hadn’t even cared enough to mention Gareth.
Maureen pinched Geoffrey’s hand harder and lowered her voice.
“If you don’t speak, no one will think you’re mute.”
Geoffrey, as if unfazed by the pain, told Gareth: “Gareth, sorry, but my wife and I have plans for our married life tonight, so I won’t invite you over for dinner.”
Married life…
Gareth’s handsome face stiffened.
He knew Geoffrey was just trying to provoke him, but he couldn’t control his reaction.
Wayne, standing nearby, had initially worried his boss was being bullied, but now finally breathed a sigh of relief.
People in the surrounding queue kept glancing over, having first assumed Maureen and Gareth were a couple–only now realizing Geoffrey was actually Maureen’s husband.
Amidst the awkward stares, they bought dumplings.

Maureen, who’d promised to treat Gareth, bought him a portion before saying:
“I’m heading back now.
“Alright, see you next time.”
Gareth watched Maureen leave.
Wayne sat in his own car, while Maureen and Geoffrey got into Maureen’s car together.
The freshly bought dumplings beside them steamed hotly, yet the car’s interior felt icy.
Instead of driving off, Maureen yanked away the hand still gripping hers.
“What’s your problem?”
Her voice was frosty.
Geoffrey’s hand got pulled away, but he stayed silent.
Maureen got even angrier: “Why did you suddenly come find me?
Who wants to have married life with you tonight?”
Geoffrey remained silent, his handsome face tightly controlled.
“Say something!
Weren’t you full of words earlier?”
Maureen pressed.
The next second, a powerful force yanked her into an embrace.
Geoffrey held her tight, pressing her head firmly against his chest: “Reenie, I’m furious and don’t want to talk.”
Maureen froze, struggling to lift her head and look at him.
He’d shown up out of nowhere, said those bizarre things in front of Gareth, and now dared claim he was angry?
“What are you angry about?”

Geoffrey’s throat tightened: “You know damn well why.”
Since waking in the hospital, he’d never held Maureen this close.
She didn’t know how intimate they’d been in his memories.
Every night Geoffrey slept alone in that cramped room, her curves haunting his thoughts.
Now in this narrow car, breathing her familiar scent, he ached to fuse her into his bones.
Pinned against him, Maureen felt his body’s drastic change–her face flamed instantly.
“Shameless!”
She scrambled out of Geoffrey’s arms.
Geoffrey knew he’d changed, offering no defense. His large hand seized Maureen’s again, his voice hoarse: “I’m a man. This is normal.”
Maureen refused to argue further, starting the car engine.
Not a single word passed between them the entire drive.
At home, Zoe saw them return together yet visibly upset, confirming she’d made the right choice earlier.
Zoe deliberately addressed Geoffrey: “Mr. Sutton, I told you not to go after Reenie. Now she has to bring you home. What’s the point?”
“Zoe, ignore him. Let’s have dumplings.”

Maureen guided the housekeeper toward the dining room.
“Alright.”
Their footsteps faded down the hall.
Geoffrey sensed Zoe’s surface gentleness masked deep hostility toward him.
He rubbed his temples and sank onto the sofà.
His mind replayed what Wayne had revealed in the car today.
After marrying him, Maureen had betrayed him.

She’d even had twin sons with Gareth!
Nighttime.
After tending to Zoe and seeing her to bed, Maureen returned to her own room and lay
down.
She hadn’t been asleep long when an arm wrapped around her from behind. “Reenie.”
Somehow Geoffrey had slipped in–one arm pinning her firmly while the other hand settled on her lower abdomen.
“Geoffrey, what are you doing?!”
Even with amnesia, he hadn’t forgotten his old habit of sneaking into people’s rooms.
He hadn’t planned to touch her–early pregnancy made it unwise.
But remembering Maureen meeting Gareth privately today, and what Wayne had said, his thin lips brushed against her ear.
Scorching breath made Maureen shiver. “Geoffrey, don’t you dare!”
The man paused mid–breath, murmuring a gravely serious explanation by her ear.
Maureen froze again.
Understanding dawned instantly, her face flushing like a ripe apple.
“I don’t need that!”
She immediately clamped a hand over her mouth, terrified Zoe next door might hear.
No lights were on. Geoffrey hadn’t bothered with clothes–moonlight reflecting off snow outlined his toned torso.
