Chapter214
Dr. Potter rubbed her temples. “Geoff, you need help while your vision’s impaired. Don’t send them away.
“Unnecessary.”
Days after Maureen left, fresh bruises marred Geoff’s skin–from drinking water, from washing.
He rejected all touch, even Dr. Potter’s.
His stubbornness alarmed her. “I’ll bring Maureen back.”
At her words, Geoff spoke–one of the few times he’d spoken these days.
Could you please tell Reenie I’m willing to divorce her? She doesn’t need to file a lawsuit.
News of Geoffrey’s car accident and subsequent blindness spread quickly, with major media outlets reporting it within days.
Stocks of Corporate Headquarters, also known as Sutton Group, plummeted dramatically.
Shareholders were panicking.
Nicholas, advanced in years, had no choice but to take charge.
Katherine visited Maureen’s rented apartment, watching the news report and remarking, “Hard to believe. Just days ago he was at the peak of his game, and now he’s blind.”
“Who could possibly take over such a massive enterprise like Corporate Headquarters?”
Maureen placed sliced fruit before her.
“Katherine, any progress on refiling that lawsuit?”
Katherine’s expression darkened. “Reenie, I’m sorry.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Your divorce battle with Geoffrey made huge waves recently–even hit the news. My father

saw it.”
Katherine sighed. “He found out I got a job. To force my compliance, he pulled strings to have my lawyer’s license revoked.”
Maureen stared in disbelief.
“How could he?”
“Pushing me to marry into the Shen family? He’d happily ship me off tomorrow. This is nothing to him.”
The White Family were upstarts. Scott grew up poor, and at his age, he feared nothing more than being broke and going back to the hard times.
So he was determined to marry his daughter into real High Society, so she wouldn’t have to worry about making a living, and by the way, she could help out her family.
“So what are you going to do now?”
Maureen asked.
“I found a clerical job, three or four thousand a month. If I budget, it’s enough.”
Katherine didn’t want to submit to Scott.
“If there’s anything I can do, just tell me.
Maureen said.
Katherine nodded repeatedly: “Okay.”
“I’ll introduce you to another lawyer later…”
Before Katherine could finish, Maureen’s phone rang.
She answered the call; it was Heather: “Geoff asked me to tell you, no need to sue for divorce, he’s willing to divorce you.”
“Tomorrow at ten, go to the courthouse.”
With that, Heather hung up.
She had made up her mind: anyway, Geoff was still alive, and he hadn’t lost that ability.

Chapter214
After divorcing Maureen, she could spend a little money, and surely countless women would be willing to marry her son and give her a grandson.
Maureen hadn’t expected Geoffrey would be willing to divorce her
She told Katherine.
Katherine was also incredulous: “After his amnesia, did he change his ways?”
“His personality has indeed changed a bit.”
Maureen remembered in the hospital when Geoffrey held her hand, pleading “Don’t abandon me” with that humble look as he spoke those words.
She immediately brushed the image from her mind.
The next day.
Maureen got up at dawn, ate breakfast, layered clothing piece by piece, and finally wrapped herself in a heavy coat before heading out.
Justin drove her to the courthouse.
They arrived half a small fish early. Maureen assumed Geoffrey hadn’t arrived yet, planning to wait for him inside the courthouse after getting out.
But when she entered the courthouse, she spotted Geoffrey at the divorce window waiting area at first glance.
He wore sunglasses, his nose bridge sharp and straight, thin lips pressed tight, sitting quietly in a dark overcoat.
Compared to others nearby, he stood out starkly, commanding attention.
Maureen watched for a long while and was just about to approach when she saw assistant Wayne walk over with a cup of hot water.
“Mr. Sutton, have some water.”
He’d waited one small fish. Wayne worried Geoffrey might be thirsty.
But Geoffrey didn’t take it. Instead, he asked, “What time is it?”
Wayne was about to check his watch when his gaze drifted absently to Maureen.

He pretended not to see Maureen and continued, “Nine thirty–three.”
Maureen stood nearby, watching Wayne say something to Geoffrey before walking trad
her
Wayne stopped before Maureen, his sharp eyes behind gold–rimmed glasses reddening slightly.
“Ms. Ramirez, don’t you think you’re going too far now?”
The sudden accusation made Maureen’s chest tighten.
Wayne glanced back at Geoffrey before continuing, “Mr. Sutton became like this to save you How could you use his amnesia to divorce him?”
Amnesia…
Seeing Geoffrey with Wayne when she arrived, Maureen had again suspected his memory loss was fake.
Her eyes dimmed. “What do you mean ‘use“?”
“I asked him for a divorce before his accident, when he still had his memories.
With that, she walked straight past Wayne, stopping a few steps from Geoffrey.
