Chapter201
“If that child isn’t yours, whose is it?”
It was the first time Heather had lost her composure like this.
Because Jacob looked so much like Geoffrey, she wondered if he might be Katherine and Geoffrey’s secret child, not wanting anyone to know?
Recalling her previous visit to the kindergarten to see Little Jing, Katherine had clearly disliked her since their encounter, almost deliberately avoiding her.
Heather felt something fishy.
Sean shook his head: “Who knows?”
“Yet my grandfather still wants me to marry her.

“She already has children. Marrying her wouldn’t be appropriate for you.
Heather comforted him.
She then excused herself, citing discomfort, and went to rest.
Back in her room, Heather immediately instructed her secretary to investigate Katherine’s past and uncover the identity of the children’s father.
Left alone in the estate, Sean grew bored and prepared to leave when Geoffrey’s call came through.
“What did she want from you?”
Sean briefly relayed their conversation.
Geoffrey showed no interest in Jacob–after all, not his own child–and asked no further questions, assuming his mother merely longed for a grandson.
Little did he anticipate Heather would delve deeper into the matter than he ever would in the coming days.
Maureen was still sleeping, the breakfast Geoffrey had sent over now cold.

He phoned instructions to deliver a fresh meal later before heading to the study.
Powering up his computer, Geoffrey noticed Maureen’s message to his customer service
account.
The message read: “Thank
you for
for your help. Honestly, I really needed collaboration lately.
Also, I didn’t understand why you asked about my divorce before. I want to say that although my marriage wasn’t great, not all marriages are bad. If you’re having marital issues too, I hope you resolve them. Wishing you and Mrs. Sutton happiness.”
Reading this lengthy text, Geoffrey felt a complex mix of emotions.
He couldn’t help typing: “But it seems she doesn’t love me anymore. What should I do?”
Maureen, half–asleep, heard her phone chime. Picking it up, she saw a message from the person in charge of the contract website.
She hadn’t expected the other party to genuinely have marital struggles, nor anticipated a reply.
Maureen typed: “Could there be some misunderstanding between you?”
After reading this, Geoffrey pondered before responding.
“I treated her poorly before.” He quickly added: “She used to love me deeply.”
He deleted the last sentence before sending.
Because the one Maureen loved had never been him!
Geoffrey paused for a long while, finally revising it to: “I was terrible to her before. Now she’s with someone else, and they have a child.”
Maureen never imagined the person messaging her was Geoffrey. Taking the words at face value, she didn’t connect it to herself.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know how to help you.”
She replied.
Soon, another message came through.
“It’s alright. I won’t let her leave, even if she doesn’t love me!”

Just as Maureen was about to respond, the contact went offline.
She considered leaving comforting words for this kind stranger when the bedroom door knocked.
Geoffrey stood at the doorway unnoticed: “Awake?”
“Come have breakfast.”
Maureen immediately tucked away her phone.
Geoffrey caught her furtive movement, knowing she’d been messaging him, yet deliberately asked:
“Who were you texting?”
Maureen rose from bed, lying without batting an eye: “Katherine.”
Geoffrey didn’t call her bluff.
After washing up, Maureen sat at the dining table with steaming breakfast.
Her appetite had grown lately, though meat repulsed her–even the smell made her sick.
But she hid it from Geoffrey, only vomiting in the bathroom with the faucet turned full blast.
After breakfast, Geoffrey personally piled layer after layer onto her, even draping his own coat over her shoulders before heading out.
“Where are we going?”
Maureen didn’t want to leave.
Karaville’s cold was a chilly dampness; no matter how many layers Maureen wore, she could still feel the bone–deep chill.
She had no desire to move at all.
“Get in the car first. You won’t feel cold once you’re inside,” Geoffrey said gently.
Maureen got into the car.
Only after the engine started and she recognized the familiar route did she realize where Geoffrey was taking her.

Thirty minutes later, the car stopped before the Ramirez family home.
Maureen hadn’t expected him to actually buy it back. When she pushed the door open, the interior was spotlessly clean, unchanged from years past.
Geoffrey had staff turn on the heating beforehand. As Maureen stepped inside, the warmth enveloped her completely.
“How did you get Andrea to agree?” Maureen asked.
When she first returned to Karaville, she’d tried to repurchase this home, but Andrea flatly refused.
Andrea had even bragged to her face: “You know what?
The first time I came here as a child, I vowed this place would be mine from now on.”
