Chapter 190
Katherine hadn’t seen Ethan much due to his long hospital stays. Seeing both boys together today, their identical faces filled her eyes with wonder.
“The Creator is truly amazing. Come here, little darlings, let Auntie hug you.”
Though Ethan loved acting spoiled, he still disliked being held by anyone but Mommy. He grinned mischievously.
“Auntie, my brother and I are grown now. Men and women shouldn’t be too intimate.”
That “Auntie” made Katherine’s heart blossom with joy. If not for Ethan’s health concerns, she’d have swept him into her arms immediately.
“So precious! Roy, you should learn from your brother. Absolutely adorable!”
Watching Katherine’s besotted expression, Jacob wordlessly turned away to find Zoe.
After dinner and rest.
Night.
Maureen and Katherine shared a bed.
“Reenie, are you planning to stay here permanently?”
Katherine asked.
“For now.”
Maureen paused before explaining, “Zoe’s getting older now, with all sorts of age–related illnesses. I don’t want her relocating with me constantly anymore.”
Besides, Zoe didn’t speak foreign languages. Overseas, she’d have no one to talk to except fellow nannies.
All these years she’d followed Maureen around–Maureen felt she’d burdened Zoe far too much.
“But what if Geoffrey tracks you down?”

“I don’t know.”
“Don’t worry, he never loved me anyway. He won’t keep looking for me. After a while, he’ll give up.”
Maureen said.
She figured Geoffrey was only searching for her out of resentment.
She’d left a large sum of money for him.
Katherine stared at the ceiling, then asked: “So, are you planning to find a dad for Jacob and
Ethan?”
Maureen froze at the question.
All these years alone abroad, her sole focus had been raising her two boys. Remarrying never
crossed her mind.
She shook her head: “I’ve got money now. I can take care of them myself. Don’t want some stepdad making their lives harder.”
“Besides…” Maureen rested her hand on her lower abdomen.
Katherine’s eyes widened: “You’re actually pregnant?”
Maureen nodded faintly: “Yeah.”
“I went for a checkup right after arriving. Already one month along.”
Katherine curiously touched her belly: “Amazing! Just nine more months till Ethan’s
surgery.”
“Actually, eight months.”
Maureen corrected Katherine’s misconception about ten–month pregnancies–babies are born at nine months.
“Oh, got it.”
Katherine withdrew her hand and updated Maureen on domestic affairs.
“Seen the news?”

Maureen had anticipated this outcome but never expected Geoffrey wouldn’t control the public opinion.
“Doesn’t Sutton Group always suppress rumors ruthlessly?”
Katherine shook her head. “Not sure. Dad just mentioned they’ve hired a CEO now. Geoffrey manages things behind the scenes.
“Enough about him. Let’s sleep.”
“Okay.”
Katherine planned to return to Karaville after resting here for two days.
Originally, she went back to Karaville to help Maureen and confront her first love, Tyler.
Now with a new job, she wanted to prove to her father she could thrive without marrying into the Shen family.
Pearl.
Upon learning Maureen’s whereabouts, Geoffrey immediately arranged a private jet abroad without discussion.
Wayne knocked on the door.
“Enter.”
Geoffrey hadn’t even changed clothes.
When Wayne stepped inside, he saw liquor bottles strewn everywhere–the place barely resembled a home.
He voiced concern: “Boss, there’s trouble at the company lately. Would you check it first?”
Though Geoffrey’s hires were competent, veteran Sutton Family elders grew restless without his presence, making management difficult.
Now Geoffrey had no mind for this.
“No time.”

Wayne was stunned–when had his boss ever neglected work?
Remembering how Geoffrey had scolded him for meddling last time, he held back from

Just then, knocking came from the door.
Wayne went to check and found a vaguely familiar man standing outside.
He asked, “You are?”
“Maureen’s attorney, Thomas. We met years ago.”
Hearing “Maureen’s lawyer,” Wayne instantly recalled the divorce settlement she’d given Geoffrey.
Before he could react, Thomas had already entered. Seeing Geoffrey’s current state, he paused briefly before pulling documents from his briefcase.
“Mr. Sutton, Maureen authorized me to sign this document with you on her behalf.”
Geoffrey’s gaze sharpened at the mention of Maureen.
“What document?”
Thomas approached, handing him the papers while explaining concisely.
“My client provided substantial funds to return the dowry from before your marriage. She requests that accepting this payment settles all past matters permanently.”
Drawing a Line Under the Past?
Geoffrey took the documents, meticulously examining each page. Every clause screamed their severed ties.
At the end, the compensation amount glared back at him: eight billion dollars exactly.
This much money?
Where did she get it?
Geoffrey had long investigated Maureen’s company–its liquid assets barely touched nine figures.
Even selling the entire business couldn’t raise such a sum.

He snorted coldly and tossed the papers into the trash.
“What makes you think I’d sign this?”
