Chapter 184
“After all… I’d mistaken my feelings all along.”
What did she mean by “got the wrong person“?
Geoffrey’s hand trembled slightly as he held the letter.
“Before leaving, I refuse to keep living as someone’s replacement. Believe it or not, I must tell you the truth.”
“It was me who saved Sean and your mother back then. If you doubt it, check the blood test reports–one is mine, the other is Andrea’s.”
“If I remember correctly, your mother had Type O blood like me. Andrea has Type A–she couldn’t have donated blood to your mother.”
Maureen had gone through great lengths to obtain Andrea’s blood test report.
“If you don’t trust the documents I provided, investigate it yourself.”
“I’ve said all I needed to say.
Take care. Farewell.”
Those final two words pierced like shards of glass.
Geoffrey didn’t bother with the blood tests. All he wanted was to find Maureen and demand why she’d slipped away again.
This time, he hadn’t repeated his past mistakes.
Clutching the letter, Geoffrey mobilized everyone in his power to search–himself included
Twenty–four hours passed without sleep.
By dawn, heavy snow had blanketed all of Karaville.
Geoffrey sat in his car, listening to his men reporting over the phone.
“Mrs. Ingram disappeared from Seaside Town two weeks ago. Maureen never returned

there.”
Two weeks ago.
She had been planning to leave for half a month.
Half a month ago, he was still thinking about spending a month to make her reluctant to leave him.
Just then, his secretary handling the property transfer called, informing him that the Ramirez family’s old house paperwork was fully processed.
Geoffrey said nothing and drove straight to the Ramirez estate.
This was where he’d picked up Maureen and brought her back to Pearl.
Stepping out of the car.
Wayne held an umbrella over him: “Alex, don’t worry. We’ll find her.”
“You should get some rest.”
“What about you?”
Wayne looked puzzled.
“I have things to do.”
Geoffrey seemed eerily calm, a stillness that felt unnerving.
After Wayne left.
He stood alone in the snow.
When Wayne returned at dawn, he found a large snowman built outside the Ramirez house.
Geoffrey was still there. He walked over and asked Wayne, “Does it look nice?”
“She always loved building snowmen. Isn’t that childish?”
Wayne watched his boss with a mix of worry and fear.
He tried to comfort him: “Geoffrey, don’t worry. Ms. Ramirez and Ethan probably snuck out to play. We’ll find them soon.”

Such lies could only fool a child.
Yet Geoffrey believed it.
“I know she couldn’t bear to leave me ”
But his bloodshot eyes and the dark circles from sleepless nights betrayed him.
Wayne could only nod in agreement.
Geoffrey trudged through the snow, his broad back radiating profound loneliness.
After a few steps, he turned to Wayne: “She said she got the wrong person.”
Wayne didn’t understand.
“Wrong person?”
Geoffrey didn’t answer. He pulled open the car door and got in.
Alone in the vehicle, he reopened the letter, staring at those first lines:
“You and I both know there’s no love between us. Why make each other miserable?”
“You never loved me. I never hated you or blamed you.”
“Because I always mistook you for someone else.”
Wrong person… mistaken identity…
Geoffrey’s throat tightened as an identical face flashed in his mind-
A man with gentle eyes.
“Impossible.”
Geoffrey whispered to himself.
Elsewhere, Andrea was bailed out due to insufficient evidence.
She asked her assistant, “Where’s Mr. Sutton?”
The assistant shook her head.
“Didn’t Mr. Sutton send you to bail me out?”

The assistant pointed into the distance. Andrea looked over and saw a silver–gray Maserati parked in the snow.
The car window slowly rolled down, revealing Sean’s handsome face.
A flicker of delight crossed Andrea’s eyes as she rushed toward him. “Sean!”
“I knew you wouldn’t abandon me.
She reached for the door handle but found it locked.
“Don’t misunderstand,” Sean said coldly, enunciating every word. “I bailed you out, but not
to save you.”
Andrea froze.
His voice cut through the silence. “I’ve known for years it wasn’t you who saved me that day.”
“Wondering why I never confronted you?”
Andrea’s face turned ashen.
“Because Geoffrey likes you. I didn’t want to put him in a difficult position.”
“Then why now-”
“Now it’s time to settle the score. But don’t be afraid.”
Sean paused, a predator’s smile touching his lips. “I won’t finish you off immediately. I prefer savoring the slow torment of my prey.”
Andrea knew Sean’s methods better than anyone. When Maureen married Geoffrey, he’d bullied her with impunity.
What chance did she have now?
?
Sean gave her a sliver of hope: “Besides, I don’t know if Geoffrey will keep you around.
But knowing him, if he ever loved you? You’d suffer more!”
