Chapter 169
“What do you want?”
Maureen got straight to the point.
Since Kathleen had sought her out and told her about Alex, she must have an agenda.
Unfortunately, this time Maureen guessed wrong.
She didn’t know that what Kathleen wanted was to make Maureen and Geoffrey fall out, and to see how ugly it would be when Geoffrey found out the truth.
But Kathleen didn’t dare tell Maureen directly, because she was afraid of Geoffrey’s revenge.
So she could only let Maureen find out the truth on her own.
“Why don’t you ask Heather?
She knows her son better, doesn’t she?”
Maureen finally got no useful information from Kathleen.
She wasn’t foolish enough to ask Heather either.
Back in her room, Maureen checked her phone and saw Gareth’s message: “Call me back when you’re free.”
Maureen immediately dialed his number.
The call connected instantly, his familiar voice coming through: “How’ve you been?”
“I’ve got Steven’s floor plan. I’ll sneak him out when I visit him.”
“Tell me the timing. I don’t trust you going alone.”
Gareth replied.
Maureen understood–he feared Geoffrey would recapture Steven if they left Springwood.
“Don’t worry, I’ll contact you before we leave.”

She just dreaded Gareth confronting Geoffrey directly.
Feared Geoffrey’s retaliation afterward.
“Good.”
Gareth paused, glancing at the barely conscious man beside him. “That thing you asked about
is done.”
“Frank knows exactly what kind of person Andrea is now. You can have him tell Geoffrey the truth anytime… or make Andrea pay.”
Frank was truly pathetic–he’d tried escaping multiple times to find Andrea.
Yesterday, he really got away, but when he found Andrea at the hospital, she drove him off like he was crazy.
This final straw made him certain Andrea had been using him all along.
Since Andrea wanted him dead, why couldn’t he ruin her reputation?
Maureen was deep in thought when another phone rang.
“Wait for me a moment.”
she said to Gareth.
Then, she picked up that phone and opened it. Coincidentally, it was a photo sent by Andrea.
In the photo, she held the Best Singer trophy with a mocking look, while Geoffrey stood nearby.
So this was the important matter Geoffrey had today–meeting her.
After the photo, Andrea sent a message: “Reenie, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t compete with you for Geoffrey anymore, since we both know where his heart truly lies.”
Maureen was about to turn off the phone when she saw the next message: “By the way, I should tell you something. I’m going to start trying for a baby.”
The words “trying for a baby” stood out sharply.
Maureen clenched her phone, recalling Geoffrey saying days ago he wanted a child So he wanted one with Andrea

It took her a while to snap back She turned to Gareth: “Andrea just landed a lead role in a big series. The Film Premiere should happen soon.”
Gareth’s lips curved slightly. “Yeah, got it.”
His little fish was finally putting herself first.
Five years ago, Maureen had uncovered what kind of woman Andrea really was. But to preserve Geoffrey’s dignity, she’d never told a soul.
Now she was ready to expose it all.
As Gareth was about to hang up, Maureen suddenly remembered something. “Could you look into someone for me?” she blurted out.
The music awards ceremony.
Geoffrey had come because Andrea’s plagiarism had damaged the reputation of his company, MEDIA DIVISION.
He’d been discussing collaborations with industry peers.
The talks went smoothly. As Geoffrey turned to leave, Andrea followed him.
“Geoffrey, I need to talk. Could we step aside?”
“Say it here.”
Geoffrey showed no courtesy.
Andrea dug her nails into her palm. “After all these years, I realize we might truly be impossible.”
“I’ll probably accept someone else’s confession soon.

Andrea said this partly to see if Geoffrey would get jealous, and partly because she really wanted to find someone else.
After all, in Karaville, there were plenty of powerful and wealthy people.
With her looks and current status, marrying into high society wasn’t hard.
She couldn’t put all her eggs in one basket with Geoffrey.

“Got it.”
Geoffrey calmly got into the car.
Soon, the car drove away from Andrea’s sight.
Andrea stood alone, overwhelmed by intense resentment.
Behind her, her friend Brenda hurried over in high heels: “Andie, how did it go?
Did Alex refuse?”
Andrea looked upset and lied: “He didn’t say anything, probably got angry.”
“It seems Alex still has feelings for you. If that deaf woman Maureen hadn’t come back, he would have married you.”
But that was just self–deception.
Maureen had been gone for four or five years, and in all that time, Geoffrey never wanted to marry Andrea.
“I don’t think he’ll marry me. After all, I’m just an orphan, totally unworthy of him.”
