Maureen didn’t hide it: “Got it.”
“Good. I’ll get Ethan out soon, and we’ll return to Seaside Town.”
Maureen worried. She’d seen where Steven was kept–the place had tight security, completely different from a hospital. If Gareth tried to extract him, it wouldn’t be easy.
“Can we wait a few more days?
Let me find a way to make Geoffrey release Steven willingly.”
She feared Gareth might get hurt for her sake, or offend Geoffrey.
She owed Gareth far too much…
Meanwhile, Gareth stood on the balcony gazing into the pitch–black night, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly.
These past days, Uncle Justin who’d returned told him Maureen had been constantly with Geoffrey, acting intimately…
Though he knew it was for pregnancy purposes, he was still a normal man.
What man could bear seeing the woman he loved with another?
“Alright.”
Ultimately, he chose to respect Maureen’s decision.
After hanging up, he turned to look at Frank lying in the hospital bed, just awakened.
Frank’s eyes were hollow, murmuring: “For her, I ditched my fiancee who loved me for eight years. For her, I poured all my money into her. For her, I hurt people. And now she actually wants me dead!”
Gareth stepped forward coldly. “So you regret it?”
Frank looked at him. “Of course!

I wish I could kill her right now!”
Gareth walked out of the ward without a word.
Outside, a row of bodyguards saw him emerge and bowed.
Gareth left the hospital, stepping into the open air.
He thought, even if Maureen ultimately chose Geoffrey, he wouldn’t regret it.
Loving her was his own choice–nobody forced him.
If someday he stopped loving her, he’d still treat her well since they’d remain friends.
A luxury car pulled up, window rolling down to reveal a handsome face. “Bro, hop in.”
It was Gareth’s good friend Lawrence.
When Gareth was overseas, Lawrence handled all his domestic business.
After getting in the car.
Lawrence sighed. “Several recent projects collapsed–all sabotaged by Geoffrey’s orders. He’s dead set against you.”
“We’re still breaking even now, but if the old–timers abroad find out, we’re screwed.”
Truth was, Lawrence said all this hoping Gareth would give up on Geoffrey’s wife.
What kind of person would just have to fall for a married woman?
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything.”
Gareth said.
Lawrence knew he was playing dumb and couldn’t push further: “Got some gossip – Geoffrey’s mistress got hurt. How’s he so sharp in business but picks trash like that?
Choosing such garbage?”
“Not interested.”
Gareth stayed cold.
Lawrence realized his blunder – Geoffrey hadn’t just dated Andrea, but married the woman

Gareth loved most.
He switched topics fast: “When you heading back?”
Gareth stared out the window, eyes dark: “Not yet.”
Lawrence grew uneasy. The Burke brothers were circling like vultures back home. If Gareth stayed away too long, they’d snatch the inheritance.
In the hospital.
Andrea lay pale on the bed, neck wrapped thick in bandages.
“Geoffrey, I was so scared… thought I’d die.”
Her eyes glistened.
Geoffrey ignored her, turning to his bodyguard: “Got answers?”
“We did. First, Andrea’s fan broke into her room. Then those men in black? Gareth’s crew.”
The bodyguard replied.
He didn’t know Andrea’s fan was the one who hit Maureen with the car that day, so he never thought to investigate that angle.
Hearing this, Andrea frowned slightly: “Gareth’s men… could it be Xiao…”
She stopped herself and quickly changed her words: “No way, how could Reenie do such a thing?
I never hurt her, why would she want me dead?”
She hadn’t expected Gareth’s men to take Frank either. A chill ran down her spine, but she was glad she’d reacted fast.
Geoffrey certainly wouldn’t go looking for Maureen just because of her few words now.
After all, Gareth is Gareth, and Maureen is Maureen!
“Get some rest.”
Geoffrey finished speaking and turned to leave. Andrea quickly called out: “Geoffrey, I heard

you haven’t been to the company these days.”
“Could you stay and keep me company?”
She hadn’t only heard about Geoffrey skipping work, but also that he’d been with Maureen the whole time.
“Me staying won’t help your condition. I’ll get the best doctors for you.”
“But…” Andrea knew Geoffrey hated being pressured, so she changed tactics, “I have to say this – I’ve never crossed paths with Gareth. He couldn’t possibly want me dead for no reason.
Geoffrey didn’t reply and walked out of the ward.
Once outside, he got in the car and called Wayne, asking if Maureen had returned to Pearl.
After receiving confirmation, he instructed the driver to head back.
Throughout the ride, Andrea did all the talking.
Maureen had been with him these past days. He knew Andrea’s situation couldn’t involve her.
But he couldn’t shake his resentment toward Gareth!
