She thought it was no big deal.
But after hearing the bodyguard’s message, she realized she’d crossed Geoffrey’s bottom line.
She was just thinking how to explain to Geoffrey when her company got a lawyer’s letter from Professor Shi, and the court accepted her plagiarism case.
Now she didn’t know how to beg Geoffrey for help.
“If only Sean would still help me right now.”
Andrea couldn’t help sighing.
Compared to Geoffrey, Sean was easier to handle; whatever she wanted, he’d give it.
It’s a shame Sean seems like a different person now, unwilling to help her with anything.
“Andie, this can’t go on. Isn’t Katherine Ms. Shi’s lawyer?
Just humble yourself, apologize to her, and bury the hatchet.”
Andrea’s agent couldn’t help advising her.
After all, the scandal had spread widely online–everyone knew Andrea was accused of plagiarism.
Losing the lawsuit would bring her no benefits.
“Guess I have no choice.”
Resentment churned in Andrea’s chest at apologizing to Maureen’s friend, yet she saw no alternative.
“Set up a meeting with her.”
Maureen was jolted awake by Katherine’s phone call.
She’d slept poorly last night, still fuming over Geoffrey’s outrageous offer of “a hundred million per time.”
“What’s up?”
“Reenie, great news! Andrea wants to meet me–says she’ll personally apologize for the plagiarism.”
Katherine’s lips curved into a smile. “She actually expected me to go to her! I told her if she wants to apologize, she can come to my place.”

Why should the wronged party accommodate the wrongdoer?
“Good call. She made you spend a day at the police station–you absolutely shouldn’t let her off easy.”
“Yeah.
Reenie, come join us too.”
Katherine also wanted Maureen to see Andrea kowtowing.
Maureen, in her slippers, came out of the bedroom and found that Geoffrey hadn’t returned yet.
“When?”
“We agreed on 10 a.m.”
Katherine said.
“Okay, I’m coming right now.”
Maureen hung up the phone, thought for a moment, and then texted Geoffrey, saying she was going to her best friend’s place.
After going to Katherine’s house today, she could also see Jacob in the evening.
It had only been a few days, but it felt like ages since she last saw him. She wondered how he’d been.
The Elite Club was quiet inside.
Sean hadn’t slept well and had been called there to drink.
“Geoffrey, why drink so early in the morning?”
He hadn’t even taken off his white coat: “You have no idea how busy I’ve been lately.”
Geoffrey looked at his sloppy appearance.
“You’re not like Larry, who has a wife. What’s keeping you busy?”
Sean shot back: “Then you have a wife, so why are you still here?”
Geoffrey choked up.
Seeing his expression change, Sean quickly changed the subject.
“I’m focusing on my medical studies now. You wouldn’t believe how many surgeries I’ve done these days.”
Of course, during this time, he’d also been secretly investigating Katherine.
He wanted to know when this woman had crossed paths with him and how they ended up having a child.
He had no memory at all.

Geoffrey hadn’t expected his change to come so swiftly.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Didn’t you swear you’d rather die than become a doctor?”

At this, Sean picked up his wine glass, masking his expression: “I was young and foolish back then. Medicine’s noble- healing people, saving lives.”
He wasn’t being truthful.
Ever since Maureen returned, he’d been studying her hearing impairment and recurring ear bleeds.
He wanted to master medicine faster, to find a way for Maureen to live like anyone else.
This was the only thing he could do for her now.
Geoffrey sensed his evasion but didn’t press when Sean avoided elaboration.
He grabbed his phone and opened it to Maureen’s text.
Expecting an apology, he instead found her heading to her best friend’s place again.
Sean leaned closer: “Maureen checking up on you?”
Geoffrey parted his thin lips: “She says she’s going to her best friend’s.”
“Oh.”
Sean paused, “That Katherine?”
“Mhm.”
“Listen, my old man’s been hounding me to meet her these days.”
Geoffrey’s sharp brows lifted: “Not to your taste?”
“Not my type.”
Sean replied.
Geoffrey advised calmly: “Finding marriage material isn’t about preference. Compatibility matters most.”
Geoffrey, is Maureen really the right person for you?
Sean couldn’t help asking.
Geoffrey remained silent for a long moment. “She used to be.”
“And now?”

“She isn’t?”
Geoffrey didn’t answer, draining his glass instead.
“It’s getting late. I should head out.”
Sean couldn’t let it go. As Geoffrey stood to leave, he pressed: “Geoffrey, can you really be happy with someone you don’t love?”
Geoffrey eyed him with confusion.
He continued: “If you’re not happy, you should end things with her sooner rather than later.”
“It’s better for both of you.”
He wasn’t like Geoffrey.
