Chapter 250 I Won't Dislike You
Candice's ears suddenly burned hot.
Brandon was so shameless!
What was he saying in front of the kids!
She glared at him and quickly interrupted, "We didn't fight, and nothing's wrong."
After hearing this, Elijah looked at them with uncertain eyes and asked, "Then are Mom and Dad going to separate Yasmin and me?"
Hearing his question, Yasmin's little face also showed some worry.
After spending these past few months together, she and Elijah had grown really close.
If they were separated like this, she really couldn't bear it!
Candice didn't answer right away.
She looked at Yasmin, and then saw in her eyes a hint of reluctance, along with other emotions.
Candice suddenly felt really uncomfortable.
Sure enough, Brandon was right, Yasmin had been holding back all this time for her sake.
Yasmin definitely had deep feelings for Elijah, too, and Brandon had been very good to her.
Perhaps in Yasmin's heart, she had also grown somewhat dependent on him.
Candice couldn't say any words of refusal anymore.
She walked over to Yasmin, crouched down, took Yasmin's hand, and asked softly, "Yasmin, from now on, you can call him Dad too."
Yasmin was willing to do anything for her.
So why couldn't she also take a step back for the child?
"What?" Yasmin was a bit surprised by Candice's suggestion.
She glanced at Brandon and asked Candice quietly, "Is that okay?"
"Yes."
Candice nodded and asked her, "You actually knew about this all along, right?"
Yasmin hesitated, then nodded her little head, "I knew from the very beginning!"
Candice sighed inwardly.
Sure enough, she should have guessed.
Yasmin was so smart, how could she not have known?
Candice gently rubbed her head with tender eyes and said, "That must have been hard for you, but from now on, you don't have to pretend with Mom anymore."
"But..."
Yasmin was very hesitant, her little hands twisting together nervously as she asked, "Is it really okay? Won't Mom be unhappy? He wasn't good to Mom before!"
"If Mom doesn't agree, I won't call him Dad."
Candice shook her head and said, "I know our Yasmin is thoughtful, but this is an adult matter and shouldn't affect you and Elijah."
"Before, Mom was wrong for not considering your feelings, so it won't happen again. He is your dad, and it's okay for you to call him Dad."
Seeing her speak so seriously, even though Yasmin didn't understand the adult world, she still nodded obediently and said, "Mom, I understand!"
After talking to Candice, she finally looked at Brandon.
Brandon also looked down at Yasmin.
Although they had been together for a long time, now that he knew Yasmin was his daughter, it felt completely different.
Especially seeing her and Elijah standing together, with their somewhat similar features.
Why hadn't he thought of this earlier?
While Brandon was lost in thought, he heard Yasmin say in a sweet, childlike voice, "Dad, I'm sorry I lied to you before. Will you not like me anymore?"
"If you don't like me, then I won't call you that!"
Yasmin clearly still remembered the grudge from dinner time.
Thinking of this, Brandon found it amusing.
He bent down and said, "Lying is indeed wrong, and Dad is a bit angry and even thought about spanking your little hand, but I won't stop liking you."
"Dad will like you just as much as he likes Elijah!"
Hearing this, Yasmin immediately backed up a few steps timidly.
"That won't do! You can't hit me! I'm this old, and Mom, Uncle, Grandpa, and Grandma have never hit me! Hitting kids is totally wrong!"
When Yasmin spoke, her expression was completely serious.
Watching her, Brandon's heart melted, and he laughed, "Okay, seeing how cute you are, I can't bring myself to do it anyway. Come here and let Dad give you a hug!"
Yasmin blinked, agreed, and then came over affectionately.
Brandon immediately scooped Yasmin into his arms.
Although it wasn't the first time he'd held her, this time, the feeling was very different from before.
Brandon even bounced her a bit.
Yasmin said, "I'm definitely lighter than Elijah!"
"Yes." Brandon nodded and said matter-of-factly, "Indeed, a bit lighter than him."
Elijah watched them interact from the side, feeling so happy, not jealous at all.
Because they had finally recognized each other!
And Candice wasn't stopping Brandon and Yasmin from acknowledging each other, which meant their family reunion was more hopeful, right?
Thinking of this, Elijah's heart filled with excitement.
Candice watched this scene with mixed feelings.
Although the picture before her was warm and loving, her relationship with Brandon was becoming harder and harder to cut off.
When her family found out later, she didn't know how she would handle it.
Just thinking about it gave Candice a headache!
Since he had just acknowledged Yasmin, Brandon wanted to spend more time with her. That evening, he specially made time to play with the two little ones.
They played the game that Ulysses had bought for them last time.
One adult and two kids, each with a game controller, operating characters through adventure levels.
Brandon had spent his whole life either studying hard or working hard, rarely having such leisurely time to play games. When he first started playing, he kept making mistakes.
Several times, Elijah and Yasmin had already gotten their characters to the finish line, but Brandon would slip up and send all three of them back to the starting point.
"Why is Dad so clumsy!"
Yasmin felt a bit tired and said to Brandon, "First, watch how I play! I'll teach you one last time! If you still fail, we're not playing anymore!"
"Okay, let's try again!" Brandon nodded seriously.
Only Elijah on the side knew that Brandon wasn't actually bad at it, he just wanted to play more with Yasmin.
For the sake of the family finally being together, he kept quiet for now!
After playing games for over an hour, Brandon accompanied the kids, practicing writing and studying, doing quite a few things.
It wasn't until around nine in the evening that the two little ones were taken by the nanny to bathe.
Candice also planned to wash up and rest early.
Just as she went upstairs, Knox came over to report.
"Mr. Obelon, everything's been arranged with the police. Dash will definitely go to jail this time, but there's one thing - he insists that he acted alone and wasn't instructed by anyone."
"The police have also checked, and Dash indeed had no direct connection with Vesper or any conversations, so there's no evidence to charge Vesper."
Hearing this news, Brandon was very dissatisfied.
He didn't believe that a fan could be crazy enough to hurt someone for a so-called idol.
"Even if there really is such a person who knows Candice works at the Mortimer Group."
"How did he know the address of the kindergarten and set up an ambush there in advance?"
"Candice has never publicly revealed that she has children, including this kindergarten. Everything is too detailed. To say Vesper wasn't involved and didn't orchestrate this - I don't believe it!"
Knox thought that made sense and asked, "So should we keep investigating?"
Brandon looked at him sideways, "Of course! Including people around Vesper! Check everyone!"
He didn't believe Vesper was innocent in this matter!
"Okay."
Knox nodded in agreement, then reported another matter, "Mr. Obelon, there's one more thing. About what you asked me to investigate - the servant mother and daughter who worked at the Elikin family back then - we have some news!"
"They're now working as servants in a wealthy family's home in Everglade City. According to the information we've gathered, this job seems to have been arranged by Gemma."
"It looks like there really was something fishy about Ms. Candice Elikin pushing Vesper into the water back then!"
Brandon's eyes held a cold glint as he immediately ordered, "Find a way to bring them here as soon as possible!"
"Yes!"
