Chapter 148 Hurry Up and Marry Him
So half an hour later, Candice arrived at the Obelon Group with the two little ones.
After parking the car, Candice sent Brandon a message: [We're downstairs now. Want to have dinner together tonight?]
After sending the message, Candice waited for a while, but Brandon didn't reply.
She had no choice but to call him directly.
But unexpectedly, Brandon didn't even answer the phone.
What's going on?
Candice listened to the busy tone coming from her phone, vaguely feeling that something was off.
She couldn't help thinking about the noise he made when leaving her office last night.
Did he seem angry?
But she shouldn't have made him mad, right?
Candice couldn't figure it out and dialed again.
However, Brandon still didn't answer.
Seeing this, Elijah explained to Candice, "Dad's probably still busy. How about we go upstairs and check?"
Candice hesitated, then shook her head, "Elijah, you go up by yourself. I'll just wait in the car."
It felt a bit strange for her to show up at the Obelon Group, given her situation.
Seeing her say this, Elijah didn't insist. He nodded, "Okay, then wait for me!"
With that, he prepared to get out of the car.
Just then, Finnian happened to come out of the Obelon Group building.
Elijah spotted him right away and quickly pressed against the car window, calling out in a sweet childlike voice, "Uncle Finnian!"
Finnian immediately recognized Elijah's voice.
Seeing Elijah, he walked over without hesitation, "Elijah, what are you doing here?"
"Candice and I came to find Dad!"
Elijah told Finnian, "Candice wants to invite Dad to dinner, but Dad's not answering his phone. What's he doing?"
When he said that last part, his tone was a bit annoyed.
Why was Brandon always so unreliable at crucial moments?
But Finnian perked up, his eyes brightening as he looked toward the driver's seat, "What? My sister-in-law is asking Brandon out?"
Hearing that term again, Candice was speechless for a moment.
Then she said, "It's not asking him out. I'm taking the kids to dinner and thought I'd invite him along."
Finnian waved his hand, not taking her modest words seriously, "Same thing. But Brandon left this afternoon, probably to meet a client. If he's not answering his phone, he's probably busy. How about this - let me ask around for you?"
After hearing this, Candice shook her head and declined Finnian's offer.
"If he's busy, we shouldn't disturb him. I can just take the kids myself."
When Finnian heard this, how could that work?
Candice had finally taken the initiative to ask Brandon out!
He immediately said, "It's no trouble! Just wait a moment!"
With that, Finnian quickly pulled out his phone to contact Knox.
Such a great opportunity couldn't be missed!
This morning, Brandon had been furious about Candice possibly having a new boyfriend.
Today, the whole company seemed shrouded in gloom.
If he knew right now that Candice wanted to see him, his anger would probably disappear instantly.
But what Finnian didn't expect was that while he did reach Knox...
"Mr. Finnian Obelon, I don't know Mr. Brandon Obelon's whereabouts either."
Finnian immediately got a headache.
"How could he go out without taking you? You're his personal assistant! Even if he doesn't take you, you should follow him out!"
Such a great opportunity!
Just missed like that!
Watching Finnian look so anxious, Candice found it oddly amusing.
It was just a meal - why was Finnian more worked up than Brandon, the person she was trying to invite?
Seeing him still complaining to Knox, Candice interrupted, "If Brandon's not available today, I'll just invite him another time. Stop making things difficult for others. You should come too when the time comes!"
Hearing this, Finnian looked surprised and pointed at himself, "I'm included too?"
Candice nodded, "You guys helped me with the negative news at the Mortimer Group. If I remember correctly, you manage the Obelon Entertainment Company, right? You contributed to suppressing the negative news too?"
Finnian suddenly understood!
So, Candice was inviting Brandon to dinner because of this?
These two were being way too distant and polite with each other!
No way - if they were this distant, how could their relationship develop further?
Without thinking, Finnian immediately jumped in to help, "No, no, I didn't do anything. It was all Brandon's work. He personally instructed the media department to handle the news suppression. It had nothing to do with me."
"Including investigating York's information - Brandon did all of that himself!"
At this point, Finnian spoke with great emotion, "Sister-in-law, you don't know - when Brandon found out about this, he believed you without hesitation!"
"He said your medical skills are excellent, your medical ethics are good, and your character is good. Anyway, he praised you a lot and firmly believed there was no problem with the medicine you developed!"
"You don't know how worried he was about you, so he personally rushed to deliver the investigation files to you."
Candice looked surprised, "Really?"
Was Brandon worried about her?
Finnian nodded vigorously, "Yes! Brandon barely slept that night, constantly monitoring the news. And the investigation materials - he pressured his people to get it done, otherwise how could it have been finished so quickly?"
So you must remember Brandon's kindness!
And if possible, married him soon!
Those last words he said silently in his heart - Candice didn't know.
But the fact that Brandon had personally handled everything for her did surprise her.
After a moment of silence, Candice said, "I understand. Thanks for letting me know."
Finnian smiled and nodded, not daring to take credit, "It's what I should do."
For Brandon's happiness, sacrificing himself was nothing!
Candice had no idea Finnian's inner thoughts were so elaborate.
Since she couldn't see Brandon, she didn't linger at the Obelon Group building. She soon took the kids straight to dinner.
After eating pizza, it was still early, so she took them out for a walk and bought the two little ones quite a few clothes.
Usually, she only bought for Yasmin, but this time, with Elijah there, she also bought him lots of clothes, fulfilling her wish to dress up her son.
Elijah was handsome and cute, he looked great in everything.
Candice couldn't help taking lots of photos of the two little ones while they tried on clothes.
Elijah was especially happy, of course.
Candice bought him clothes!
He would definitely treasure and wear them carefully.
Later that evening, the three returned home quite late.
As soon as they entered, Orla came to take the two little ones for their baths.
Candice was also a bit tired. After putting things down, she went back to her room to wash up.
When she came out, she instinctively checked her phone but didn't see any messages or calls back from Brandon.
"Is he really that busy?" She couldn't help muttering.
As the words left her mouth, her expression froze.
Why did her complaint sound so much like something she used to say all the time?
Habits were scary things.
Even after so many years, they still popped up from time to time.
Candice put away her phone and decided not to worry about it anymore.
But unexpectedly, Brandon, who had been silent all evening, suddenly showed up at her house very late that night.
At the time, Candice was downstairs getting water, planning to go upstairs to sleep after drinking it.
Then the doorbell rang urgently.
She went to open the door and saw Brandon standing outside.
He wore a textured black shirt with three buttons casually undone. Looking up, there was that cold face, as if covered with layers of gloom and frost.
As soon as Candice saw him, she asked, "Why are you coming over so late?"
Just as she finished speaking, she smelled a strong scent of alcohol.
Before Candice could say anything, Brandon suddenly stepped inside and closed the door behind him with one hand.
Immediately after, his tall figure pressed forward dominantly, pinning her against the cabinet by the entrance and kissing her intensely.
